Author has written 9 stories for Dark Angel, Tomb Raider, and Final Fantasy VIII. Profile revamp time, considering it's been about five years since I updated this thing. Ok, first of all, I still get a few scattered reviews here and there for my much older DA and Tomb Raider fics, and while I do thank those of you still interested in them after all these years, they will not be completed. For one, several of them were started right around the time I first began writing fanfiction--I was 15. I am now almost 25, so needless to say my writing has changed quite a bit over the last decade or so, and I really could not even hope to pick them back up and have everything sound consistent. Also, these stories were all stored on my old computer, which departed this world some couple of years ago, sadly, so I do not even have access to the original files anymore. I have debated over taking them down, but I do find it interesting to go back and look at what I did as a teenager versus how I approach my writing now, so for now they will most likely stay. Final Fantasy 8 is my current fanfic obsession, particularly the pairing of Seifer and Quistis, which I find very interesting to write. I have a couple more ideas for fics in this universe, and then I have tentative plans to return to original writing, although I have had tentative plans to return to original writing for the last ten years or so, and as you can see, I am still on this site posting fanfiction. So. The most important thing to me is characterization, and this is something I have really tried to work on in my more recent fics, so you will find that they are very character-driven. (Although I do love a good head smashing scene.) Also, these are not children's stories. They are rated M for very, very good reasons, and Ashes in particular is dark as hell; to be honest I have never been much of a fluff writer, and I find that Final Fantasy 8 really brings out the dark side in my writing. But come on--orphans being reared as soldiers so they can later kill the mother figure who took them in and gave them a home after war took their parents from them? It's hard for me to find a lot of rainbows in that. Above all, I hope you come away from my writing affected by it--hopefully in a good way, though perhaps not--because this is my main goal. Yes, I want the plot to keep people in that 'what happens next' mindset that keeps readers reading, but most of all I want readers to give a flying shit about the characters themselves. I read too much writing with poorly-drawn characters I couldn't give one insignificant shit about, and that for me ruins an otherwise interesting story. I only hope that I am proficient enough in my writing to make readers feel--that is what I would like to accomplish most of all. Oh, and for those of you who are shy about reviewing--I know you're out there--I can see you lurking behind visitor numbers--if you would like to comment on anything I have posted but do not want it public, feel free to PM me. I don't bite. (Unless you are a flamer, in which case I will probably just ignore you unless I'm really, really bored.) I tend to pull pretty low review numbers, particularly in comparison to a lot of other fic writers, and am generally left wondering what the majority of my readers think of my work. To those who have reviewed; thank you very much for your time, particularly in regards to such monstrosities as And the Hero Will Drown and Ashes to Dust. It still amazes me anyone would want to devote that much time to reading fanfiction, but I am grateful for it. |
