![]() Author has written 26 stories for Danny Phantom, Johnny Test, Teen Titans, Phineas and Ferb, Atomic Betty, and Star Vs. The Forces of Evil. Just a fan of good stuff. I'll admit it, I'm actually very picky when it comes to my choice in fanfictions. I'm often over critical and have a hard time just letting go and enjoying the ride. I'm doing my best to avoid this, but every once and a while there comes a stupid trend that I just can't get over. So, I'm going to dedicate this little section of my profile to all those trends that annoy the shit out of me. I've read AU or high school stories for Phineas and Ferb and there is one trend that I absolutely despise. People love to make Phineas a weakling. WHY?! Yes, I know he's short and scrawny in the cartoon, but with the type of animation that Phineas and Ferb uses, you have two choices between body sizes; scrawny or stocky. So using that excuse doesn't really work. Plus, there's this miraculous thing called puberty, and when boys go through it they generally become bigger and stronger! Another thing is that Phineas just often acts like a coward when confronted with violence. NO! Even if you wanted to ignore my whole: people change as they grow older argument, in ATSD, Phineas didn't even flinch as Alt Doof was trying to murder him! Phineas has no reason to fear anyone. This is the biggest flaw when it comes down to making Phineas weak. Phineas is beyond genius, he builds physics defying inventions over the course of an after noon, he's improvised on the spot and found solutions to problems other people could never have conceived, he's repaired a time machine without its blueprints and travelled though time, twice! His intelligence, save for his brother Ferb, dwarfs every other human being's on the planet. Phineas could easily destroy anyone he comes up against, he could hack their bank account and drain them of all their money, he could learn martial arts in an afternoon and become a fighting machine, he could create a deadly toxin and poison someone, and no one would ever be the wiser because he's too smart! Phineas could convince thousands of ways to destroy someone and not be caught, because there is no one, except Ferb, who could possibly be able to keep up with his intelligence. I've read a lot of stories where Danny gets defeated by his parents or Valerie. I'm sorry, but you think that after a year or two of fighting deadly creatures that can fly, shoot deadly energy blasts from their hands, lift cars with raw strength, shoot fire and lightning, yet he can still be defeated by a fat idiot that can't hit the broad side of a barn, a women who isn't smart enough to see that her own son is the very ghost she's been threatening to re-kill, or a over weight girl with anger issues and a super advanced suit that no one taught her how to use, then you seriously need rethink how well you know Danny phantom. Also, I'm ignoring some of the situations that happened in season three, because let's face it butch Hartman royal fucked that season up by bringing Danny down to the same power level he was at the end of season 1. Oh and one more thing, Danny's fought Pariah Dark, A monstrous ghost that's the size of Fenton works without even flinching, but he's terrified of getting punched by a 6'2 blond jock with purple eyes... Go fuck yourself. Why is it that I can never find a My Little Pony fanfiction about ponies? It always has to involve some bullshit human coming to equestria or a generic OC being inserted into the story. All I want is a simple My Little Pony fanfiction about either the main six or one of the other side characters, that's all I ask, is it so hard for someone out there to write a fanfiction with no OC's, especially human ones? A 15 year old girl holds hands with her 1 year old son. People call her a "slut", no one knows she was raped at age 14. People call another guy "fat", no one knows he has a serious disease causing him to be overweight. People call an old man "ugly", no one knows he experienced a serious injury to his face while fighting for our country in the war. Judging people at first glance is just one of the many things that is holding down society. I've said before that I love Phineas and Ferb and that I think it's one of the best shows of all time for its moral, but one of the things I also love about this show is Phineas and Isabella. Yes, yes, I'm a Phinabella shipper. Not only that, I love Ferbella fanfiction, not because I ship it, but because every Ferbella fic I've seen only cements that Phinabella is OTP and here's why. In every Ferbella fic I've ever read, the only reason Isabella can get over Phineas and move on to Ferb is because the writer has to either write Phineas as an out of character jackass, or they write Phineas as a ten year old trapped in an adult's body. In one of the most popular Ferbella fic I've seen, String Theory, Phineas's character is a joke. Forget a ten year old, the writer portrays Phineas as the biggest man child I have ever seen. To prove my point; Phineas gets seriously upset when he finds out that Ferb has been sleeping with someone and didn't tell him about it. Take a minute to comprehend the stupidity of what I just told you. Sorry Ferbella shippers, your ship will never be cannon and you'll never get it to work without making Phineas laughably out of character. This may come as a shock to some people, but I hate Candace more than any character on any show that I've ever seen. Here's four reasons why: 1. Candace is unnessisarily cruel to the people closest to her Even if you want to believe Candace's delusion that she's trying to protect her brothers by "busting" them, that is no excuse for the way she treats her brothers or her best friend. How many times has Candace left Stacy to tattle on her brothers or to hang out with Jeremy? Family does come before friends, but somebody you've been dating for less than four months should never come before somebody you've been best friends with for years. When it gets to the point where your best friend doesn't even react when you blow them off, that's when you know you don't even deserve to be their friend. 2. Candace tries to tattle on her brothers for completely selfish reasons For the people that argue that Candace tries to protect her brothers by doing what she does, I present these counter arguments. For starters Candace has chosen her boyfriend over her brothers several times like in The Great Indoors and in Run Candace Run. Not enough proof? Fine then, how about when in My Sweet Ride, Summer Belongs to You, Lawn Nome Beach Party of Terror, Tree to Get Ready, and more, Candace doesn't try tattling on her brothers. Why is that? Because she is gaining something from their inventions. Just to put the final nail in the coffin, in Candace Disconnected she begged Phineas and Ferb to make her a new cellphone, which they did in less than an hour, and when she took it she didn't even say thank you, she had the audacity to insult them after they did something so kind for her. 3. Candace is more concerned with tattling on her brothers than their lives The very first episode, Candace sees her brothers dangling from the tail end of a plain in flight and what is her reaction? She giggles maniacally. "But Ultimix, she saved Phineas's life in Traffic Cam Caper" I hear you say. Of course she did, because Disney would never allow the alternative to be shown. Don't forget that she not only hesitated when choosing between Phineas and the evidence, but she also sighed in annoyance when she knew what choice she had to make. But hey, it's not like she abused a position of major power, ignored the number one rule of time travel, or trapped her self and her brothers in a hostile dimension by stupidly charging into something she had no clue about, right? 4. Candace is treated as a protagonist Every reason above could have been fine if it weren't for this last reason. If Candace was treated as an antagonist then I would have no problem with her. But she isn't and we're supposed to sympathize with her. Now their are episodes where Candace does get punishment for what she does or suffers in some way, but then there are episodes that try and make you sympathize with what she goes through. Take the final song in Summer Belongs to You when Candace starts to sing, it's supposed to be a great moment for her, but it's completely ruined when she says the line "I've often thought of you two as a nuisance and a bother," despite the fact that her brothers have never done anything but be nice to her. How about in A Phineas and Ferb Family Christmas when she says "They tried to make Christmas in July... and it was really sweet." Like we're just supposed to overlook how she tried to get them in trouble for that same reason. Or how in The Best Lazy Day Ever she actively tried baiting her brothers into doing something she could get them in trouble for and still got to have her romantic moment with Jeremy at the end. When you get down to it, what Candace does and how she acts is unjustifiable. I was really hoping that some of these points would be explored upon in Act Your Age when Phineas and Ferb were older and had a better understanding of what she has done, but nope. If Phineas and Ferb ever does come back for a fifth season, I hope to god Candace is cut from the series or is treated like an antagonist, because if she isn't and they try to make her the main character like they did mid way through season three then I may not watch the show at all. Anyway, those where my reasons for why I hate Candace. If you have any counterarguments then I'd love to hear them. Just don't do what one coward did and leave an anonymous review on one of my stories telling me how much of an asshole I am for having this opinion. (Yes, that actually happened, the story was Massage Parlour, and yes I deleted the comment because it had nothing to do with my story.) |
