“Then listen closely as I continue.” The playful smirk on his face quickly changed into a frown, what he was about to reveal would be as difficult for him to take in as it would be for her. “When I lost my ability to kill, let alone hurt you, my ability to lie to you disappeared with it. When you asked me what I was going to wish for, against my will, I answered you. When you asked me if I’d be someone else after I transform, I told you the truth, I will never be anyone else but the Cell you know. Then I reached my perfect form, and I grew even more curious. I was disgusted with myself.” The last statement he declared with much vehemence, earning a tremble from his faithful listener. He enveloped her in his arms, returning her embrace. “I answered more of your questions with undue honesty. I did not know it then, but it seems that I have learned to trust you. The concept was so abstract to me that I did not understand and had no desire to comprehend it.”

For that reason, Gaston's face was etched into her mind, as if a hot branding iron was pressed against her memory. She will never forget the way the lamplight danced on his face, caressing every sharp feature. It was both blessing and curse to be captivated by first impressions. His very presence was intoxicating, she wanted her eyes to be graced by his image but she did not want her soul to suffer his derision. She loathed herself for placing more emphasis on his outward appearance than his obnoxious attitude, but could she fault herself? Never before had she seen a man more handsome, even in all her travels to different towns and faraway cities, being the outcast daughter of a wealthy man who boarded vessels to and from foreign lands.
