![]() Author has written 4 stories for Warriors. I apologize to those who know the following information already, but I felt it'd be better if I had this as a go-to for all of my reviews. I swear, this is such an amusingly unorganized profile. It's under construction, and I'm just writing things on top. Fun. Of course, what I'm putting at the top here is a personal pet peeve of mine (alliteration for the win), and so I hope on the off chance that you're reading my profile, you'll read it and, if you didn't know it already, carry on the idea. If you want to spread it, go ahead, but I won't put any false statements here like, "If you don't put this on your profile, my ghost will hunt you down and rip out your innards". It'll just be grammar. PUNCTUATION AT THE END OF DIALOGUE Written by Ankaa because he was bored. Note: All grammatically incorrect examples are italicized to avoid conclusion." "Two seals are sitting in a bathtub full of waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarm Crisco." said the teenager. That's a perfectly fine sentence, right? Wrong. The period at the end of the dialogue (after "Crisco") should be a comma. This is unfortunately a very common mistake, one that's fairly irrelevant but still important. Its importance mainly comes from two things.
So, in other words, it should be correctly written: "Two seals are sitting in a bathtub full of waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarm Crisco," said the teenager.HOWEVER, this does not apply to question marks (?) or exclamation points! Weird, I know. So, for instance, the following lines are correct: "What do I look like? A typewriter?" asked the seal. "Let's eat grandpa!" the boy shouted enthusiastically as he brought his grandfather to the table.Got it so far? Continuing on ... KEEP IN MIND that punctuation in the middle of the sentence is unaffected. This is only punctuation at the END of dialogue. So for instance, this is incorrect: "What do I look like, a typewriter," asked the seal.FINALLY, I must admit that the title is a bit misleading. This all applies only to dialogue followed by "[pronoun] [verb]" For instance, this is incorrect: "Stop clubbing, baby seals," the man warned. "If you do so, it may well lead to your doom," He huffed and he puffed and walked from the room, his eyes brimming with unspoken fury. The comma is applied before "the man warned", but should not be applied before "He huffed and he puffed". Rather, it should be written like this, with the changed part bolded: Stop clubbing, baby seals," the man warned. "If you do so, it may well lead to your doom." He huffed and he puffed and walked from the room, his eyes brimming with unspoken fury. So, that might sound like it's extremely complicated, but trust me, it's really easy. Once you get into the habit of doing this, it'll come like second nature to you. Don't worry, and just fix it! Though the rest of the profile is under construction, this is an early published prototype of the forums section. I associate most with this forum (probably because I am a moderator there), though I've steadily been branching out to others. It's pretty much an island in and of itself, a hermit kingdom by the very nature of forums of its kind. Created in the aftermath of the preceding guard of forums towards the beginning of this new age, the Clan of Clouds carries with it a whiff of the past era. Here, the fires of passion that fuel randomness and spam have cooled, but it still retains a unique population. Many of its members are solely parts of this forum, the era of branching having passed. A rising star among the Warrior forums, this forum is young, still less than a year old, and is still hitting its stride. Children of the Shadows is perhaps one of the more 'modern' forums in this world, embodying an aspect of the zeitgeist seen among the young adolescents of society, one of energy and enthusiasm accompanied by personal pain and self-discovery. As a warning, though, if you're particularly picky about grammar and capitalization in particular, this might not be a good place for you. Most people have good grammar, but there remain a few outliers. A Perfect Circle TBD By the way, this is the current root of my username.
