![]() Author has written 25 stories for True Blood, Sookie Stackhouse/Southern Vampire Mysteries, Upstairs Downstairs, and Star Wars. I'm still a great fan of Fanfiction, despite some of the issues with the site over the years. It's a great place to test out writing skills and ideas. I'm very grateful for the support and feedback I've had both from people who've read the stories, and people who've helped me with advice and beta reading. After a couple of prolific years, I've pretty much slowed to a halt now, but I still appreciate getting the favourites, alerts and reviews - I will try to respond when I can. There are a few unfinished stories on my page, which I do feel bad about. I'm hoping to finish 'Common People', and, in response to popular demand I will try to write more for 'The Blood Donor'. My own personal favourite is 'The Maid of the Moor.' It's got a part two sketched out in my head but whether it will ever make it to the screen I really can't say. A summary of all my stories is below. True Blood Stories "After Dallas", "Living Dead - the Director's Cut" (one-shot) and its sequel "The Ex Factor" are all complete. These stories run in parallel covering the same time period but each taking a different route to get Eric and Sookie together as a couple. "Secrets and Lies*" is a follow up to all three stories and takes Eric and Sookie out of the world of True Blood and into the wider, more dangerous world of national vampire politics. It takes plot points from both 'After Dallas' and 'The Ex Factor'. Part one is finished but I have some ideas for a part two which may get written eventually. These stories are all set after Season 2 and before I saw Season 3, so they do feature a darker Eric. It's interesting to see that he has changed in Season 3. "Eric's Party" is a TB one-shot set around the end of True Blood season 2 "Scenes from the Cutting Room Floor", I wrote Chapters 1-6 of this story after watching Season 3, it's just my ideas for how things could have gone differently, expressed as missing scenes which were written but never made it - This is now complete to the end of the Season. Chapters 7 - 18 provide a different twist on Season 4. Now I've watched the Season I'm very glad that my version is different. Overall I was pretty disappointed - it had its moments but not enough of them, and they were outweighed by pointless story lines which went nowhere, poor characterisation just to get plot points, and somehow turning Sookie into a totally unsympathetic character. SVM stories "Sookie's Choice" and "Jackson Mississippi" are both complete stories - based on books one and three respectively. The clumsily named but very sweet "Key to My Heart" is a one shot inspired by the end of book five A very long time ago I started "What If": an eponymous fluffy little story which takes key moments in the plot and gives alternative versions. Unfortunately, like a lot of 'what if' stories, it started to get tangled up in its own story-line and will probably never be finished. "The Blood Donor." This is set in the SVM universe but with an original story line. In this version, Sookie has her first contact with vampires when, desperate for money to pay her bills, she answers an advert for blood donors for a vampire summit. However the consequences of her decision are more far-reaching than she could ever have been anticipated. There are quite a few plot twists, some of which have generated a bit of controversy, not everyone's happy with the way I've taken things, but overall the reaction has been positive and I'm really grateful for all the reviews. Common People: I've only posted a few chapters so far, but I will come back to it. It's almost canon, but with one very big twist. Instead of being a vampire, Eric is human - the spoilt playboy son of a Shreveport businessman. When his exploits go too far, he is sent to Bon Temps to experience real life with ordinary folk. I'm very sorry that this story has ground to a halt - I do have the rest of the plot mapped out, but am lacking the inspiration to write it. All Human/Alternative Universe: They Met in the Dark: Inspired by the Indie Fic contest, this features an English Sookie who is telephathic, but who decides to use her powers instead of hiding them. Leaving her sheltered upbringing in the Forest of Dean she moves to London where a new career brings her excitement, danger and romance. 'The Maid of the Moor*' is a historical fiction but don't let that put you off. It's set in early eighteenth century England and is in the tradition of the bodice ripper school of historical fiction - wenches, wreckers, pirates and smugglers, plus an eighteenth century Eric and Sookie. I'm so pleased with the reaction to the story, and of everything I've written its the one I'm most proud of. If you haven't read it yet please check it out and let me know what you think! CONTEST AND CHALLENGE ENTRIES Writing one-shots for contests and challenges is a really good way for a new author to try out different writing styles. It's particularly helpful if you get feedback from the judges or organisers. Enormous thanks to all the people who work so hard hosting and judging them. The following one-shots were all written for this purpose, but my page is getting too crowded with them, so I'm planning to concentrate on my existing stories from now on. D5 is set after the end of DITF. Victor has manipulated things to get Eric removed from his position as Sheriff, and he is now on the run. The only clue to his movements is a song he plays on the jukebox in every Vampire Bar he visits - his only memory of his lost love. (written for 'I Write the Songs') That Don't Impress Me Much has Eric as a guest on the long-running UK radio show 'Desert Island Discs' He and Sookie have been drafted onto a secret vampire mission to Europe, and he finds himself expected to participate in a PR offensive. For the show he has to choose eight records, a book and a luxury which he would take with him if he were abandoned on a desert island. Now with a second chapter added. (also written for 'I Write the Songs') "The Case of the Stackhouse Demon" is set in nineteenth century London and is a parody of the Sherlock Holmes story but with our favourite Viking as the great detective (written for 'The Deadpan Contest') There is a short sequel, "The Vampire's Wife" telling the story of Suki and Eric's marriage. "From Sweden with Love*" is a James Bond parody (in the style of Ian Fleming rather than Cubby Broccolli) "Do the Right Thing" is a story for the TwoWrongsMakeaRight challenge - writing a story with Luna Garza and Mr Cataliades as the main characters was most certainly a challenge, but I got a wonderful review from Suki59 in an 'Under the Radar' slot on www(dot)thesookieverse(dot)com which made it all worthwhile. "MacArthur Park" was a one shot for the Let them Eat Birthday Cake Challenge dedicated to some of the leading ladies in the SVM community who have their birthdays in July. "The Duelist" is set in eighteenth century Bath. Eric's gambling and womanising lead to trouble, as he makes a powerful enemy. Will he escape with his undead existence? (written for the Age of Eric contest) "Pam's Surprise" is a one-shot for the 2011 Sookie's Secret Santa Fic exchange - this was a great idea organised by Janofarc and Blake's Boogie and encouraged some lovely new stories to be written by and for members of the fandom. My contribution is a fluffly little True Blood story featuring a very snarky Pam, who ends up getting more than she bargained for. I love 'what if's' so much that I've started my own community for them. My rules for inclusion is that they need to be stories which stick fairly closely to the plot of the books or show, but add a twist or a different interpretation. Of course being Team Eric, there is a preference for how they end. I haven't had much time to look out for new additions to the collection recently, so if you have any suggestions to add, please do send me a message with your favourites. Upstairs Downstairs: "Lady Persephone's Lover" is based on the first series of the new BBC adaptation of the classic series set in an aristocratic London household. The relationship between rebellious younger sister Lady Persephone, and handsome chauffeur Harry Spargo was sketched out in the three part mini series shown in the UK over Christmas 2010. Despite their involvement in Oswald Moseley's British Union of Fascists, they are both interesting and challenging characters who make you want to know more about them, so my first Upstairs Downstairs story 'Lady Persephone's Lover' tries to do just that - plus I've given them a lot more romance! Star Wars I was inspired by another fanfiction writer jzhanfan to write a short story set in the original Star Wars universe. It's Han Solo and Princess Leia, and its unashamedly romantic - definitely one for the ladies, and especially for fans of a young Harrison Ford! Some of my stories are posted on my Wordpress account (click on the Homepage link at the top of the page to go to this) including my first attempt at original fiction which was an entry for the MyVampFiction original fiction contest: Vampire Rising is set in ancient Egypt and is my version of how vampires were first created. Forbidden love and dangerous ambition unleash powerful forces which are beyond human control. I am on Twitter under my penname if you would like to follow me. I'm not too active as a tweeter but its a good way to keep in touch with the community. As you know all the characters in FanFiction belong to their original creators - for SVM and TB Charlaine Harris and Alan Ball/HBO, for Upstairs Downstairs Jean Marsh/Eileen Atkins/ and Heidi Thomas for BBC Wales - all stories carry a disclaimer that I'm just having fun with them and no infringements are intended. |
