In television these days, when a series ends there is some sort of finale and wrap up. "Point/Counterpoint" was a little bit of one, with Jarrod declining the Attorney Generalship, but IMO that was just circumstantial, and it wasn't enough. This is the kind of "last scene" I would have liked, set 5 years after POG in the BV timeline.

Jarrod has himself a day. For reasons nobody else understands, he robs the bank. Now he has to get away not only from a posse that includes his brothers, but also from three men who want the money he took – and him.

I was watching "Barbary Red" yesterday. I like how the episode showed two people – Red and Jarrod – complex enough for us to be sorry for the bad girl and even a bit angry with the good guy at the end. But the epilogue seemed to leave a lot unsaid and didn't sit well with the lawyer in me either, so I've taken a crack at rewriting it.

AU - Who is Janet Norton? This is for TaunaPS and her daughter.

A soldier comes home from the war and tries to help a younger sibling who doesn't remember him.

Each of the Barkley brothers discovers he has a problem to deal with that involves the prejudices of other people.

Ruthie was the hooker in a scene from "Down Shadow Street," played by JoAnn Pflug. In 1974, at the end of a Match Game episode where Pflug and Richard Long were both panelists, Pflug said that the first work she did in television was that scene with RL, and he had been so kind to her that she wanted to give him a kiss, which she did. This is to recognize a sweet gesture.

Sequel to "Cut." Two attempts have been made on Jarrod's life. A third attempt leaves him seriously wounded. The family is sure the attempt was connected to the man in San Jose who killed himself, but how to find the shooter and stop him is eluding them.

Alternate – and longer - ending to "The Murdered Party."

A love story, but before he can fall in love again, Jarrod has to face some hard truths that someone special helps him face.

Jarrod is attacked in San Francisco and doesn't tell his family. But then it turns out that what he thought was a random attack, wasn't.

This is for the people who have asked me to do a follow up story about Zach Fain, the sheriff in Rimfire who did not charge Jarrod with any crimes after his behavior there, but who had let Cass Hyatt out of jail so Jarrod could kill him.

I challenged myself to take an older story I'd written, start it off the same but then take it in a completely different direction. This version of "The Man From Somewhere," posted a while back, has Danny asking for Jarrod's help because Libby has lost track of her life and her finances.

Set about a year after Nick and Hester Converse. Nick falls in love again, with a beautiful, intelligent businesswoman who has just come to Stockton – but what really is her interest in him?

Set four months after "Days of Wrath." Jarrod's client, a difficult man Jarrod doesn't like much, is found murdered shortly after meeting with Jarrod, and Jarrod has left town and the family without a word.

A brief and somewhat silly misadventure into someone else's marriage. On a business trip, Jarrod ends up in the midst of the crazy mess between his friend(?) Nat Springer, his wife Emily – and the other woman.

AU – It is one year after "Time After Midnight" and Jarrod has not recovered his vision, but managed to keep his career together with the help of a young attorney who becomes his assistant and brings him some insight into the life he hadn't planned on living.

Jarrod successfully defends a young man on a murder charge, but then the man robs and murders an elderly couple in Stockton. As executor of their wills, Jarrod tries to take care of the dead couple's affairs, while dealing with his own guilt and a 21st century problem that turns up in the 19th century.

Heath agrees to take Audra to Strawberry for the first time, but what should be a sweet, nostalgic visit turns bitter when they find Hannah missing, and discover something else.

Jarrod turns 35 in a midlife funk, that only gets funkier when he rescues an injured woman whose own life is full of misleading twists and turns.

While hunting alone in the foothills, Nick runs into Wally Miles, who is doing the same thing.

A bar fight spills out into the street in Stockton and Jarrod is forced to kill five young men shooting up the town. One of them worked for Wally Miles. Jarrod struggles with resumed contact with Wally, as well as with his own conscience and drinking problem. This is a rewrite of a story I wrote called "Five Men."

Jenny Miles has died, two years after Victoria killed her son Evan. Problems erupt again between her husband Wally and the Barkleys, and there are in-family complications too. Remembering Robert Walker Jr., lost last week.

This is a series of independent stories about each of the Barkleys and how they deal with difficult moments in their lives.

Jarrod is a witness in a case against a San Francisco politician, but he's disappeared. When he reappears, it seems he's been taken to keep from testifying, and he and the family go looking to find out who was involved and what exactly happened to him.

Jarrod and Nick find themselves both falling for the beautiful widow Lilian Henshaw, but they don't know that in addition to their potential rivalry, there is a dark secret following Lilian and her two sons around that could endanger everyone.

A little diversion. Nick tells Heath about the times Jarrod brought home something other than money for a fee. Set just after the opening scene in "Under a Dark Star."

On the way home from a business trip, Jarrod stumbles into influenza and a quarantine, and more.

It's 1857. Audra has just been born, early, while Tom is away on a business trip. Fourteen-year-old Jarrod is left to be surrogate father – and to deal with news that while Tom was heading home, his train derailed.

While working on a case for the State Land Commission, Jarrod deals with an old friend he knew from law school, but now the man has a serious drinking problem. Jarrod tries to find a way to handle the case but help his friend at the same time.

AU Follows "To Prison" (rated M – adjust your filter if you want to read it). The title has a double meaning in this story of Jarrod's return home and recovery after three years in prison for his crimes at Rimfire.

David Crispin was Audra's childhood "boyfriend," but now he's been killed in a fall. Or was it a fall that killed him? Jarrod uncovers several other unhappy possibilities as he gathers information to probate the man's will, and the story becomes far more complicated than it first appeared.

Yes, Nick did.

AU - for readers who asked me to write something like this. Jarrod goes to prison for his crimes at Rimfire. Rating reflects some violence and vile prison conditions.

Jarrod tells Heath the story of the time, when they were kids, that Nick decided he could fly.

Jarrod new client murdered his wife's lover in broad daylight on the street. As Jarrod considers his defense, the family worries that newcomer Heath might become the wife's new target for a love interest. They have a lot to learn about Heath. Set a week after the fight at Sample's farm.

Jarrod is missing - sort of. He's been abducted - kind of.

AU – Follows Making a Rancher and Building an Empire. Jarrod and Nick have adjusted to each other and their roles in the Barkley empire after Tom's death, but now Heath's arrival upsets the apple cart one more time.

One of Jarrod's former lovers comes back into his life. Set after "Something in Between" and "Saving Dr. Merar."

Jarrod takes Nick to New Orleans for a vacation – in Jack Darby's home town, will they become involved in things they can't tell Mother about? Well, sure.

I thought about this after reading "One Bullet More" by WillowDryad and the Barkley boys spoke to me, too. So did Danny. This expands the ending to "Man From Nowhere."

Follows Something in Between. After Jarrod faints in the courtroom from overwork, Dr. Merar orders him to take several weeks off. Jarrod follows instructions, comes back rested and fit, but finds it's the doctor now who needs rescuing from a couple armed robbers.

Two years after Jarrod's wife's death, the family discovers he is still struggling when a woman in Stockton is murdered

Audra becomes smitten with a newcomer to Stockton, a transplanted Virginian who helps with her project to rehabilitate one of the orphanage buildings, but Jarrod realizes he knew Luther Madison during the war – when as an army intelligence officer, he pulled a sting on the man.

Jarrod has a double. He's a con man and a thief, and the Barkleys get an unwanted houseguest.

AU - MAJOR CHARACTER DEATH I found when I wrote "Loving Beth" that I liked her so much I couldn't help thinking about what would happen to her "if". In this AU, Cass Hyatt doesn't kill Beth – he kills Jarrod.

This is Jarrod's and Beth's love story. We know how it ends, so keep the tissue handy, but I always thought we needed to know Beth better, so I gave it a try.

Follow-up to "Night of the Wolf." When he was bitten, Nick left home to spare the family watching him die of rabies and to make his life count, but there was a more primal motive in Nick's leaving, too, one that might have been the hardest to face up to once he got home again.

While suffering a serious fever, Jarrod stops breathing. There are complications after he recovers but it starts to look like they're not really bad ones at all.

I previously posted Chapter 1 as a separate story called "What Mothers Know." I am including it here because it leads into the story of Heath's legally taking the Barkley name and becoming Victoria's adopted son.

Jarrod's new client is Nick's first love, come back to Stockton out of the blue after leaving him six years earlier. Nick is none too happy when he finds out why she left him.

At the end of "The Haunted Gun," Senator Jud Robson was killed by his aide, Salazar, to keep him from killing Jarrod. But when they return to Stockton, Salazar tells everyone that an unknown assassin killed Robson, and politics fight with the truth.

After Julia Saxon leaves Stockton, Jarrod decides it's time to tell his brothers what happened in Washington during the war. Follows "They Called Her Delilah."

A patient that Jarrod knew in passing at the Insane Asylum has died, and when he tells the family about it, Heath realizes he might have known her once too - and did not treat her very well. Together, they go to Strawberry, looking for who she was and what happened to her. Inspired by a song by Steve Goodman. Follows my story "Asylum."

It's the Barkleys' first Christmas after Tom's death. While Audra is hoping for a big miracle, small ones happen.

Nick strikes a new kind of deal for cattle with a man in Sacramento. Then they find out Jarrod represented the man's wife in their divorce three years earlier. Uh-oh.

Jarrod gets what he wants on his 35th birthday. This is to commemorate Richard Long's 91st!

Thanks to Tauna for helping me out with this one – it wasn't going anywhere when I started it, but then she gave me an idea and things began to gel. The story involves a new dog and old sort-of friends. Be warned and grab the tissues – MINOR CHARACTER DEATH (it's not the dog).

Nick and Heath go to town to pick Jarrod up from the train, and Nick does not get into trouble. So he gets an early Christmas present. And this is a present for all the Nick lovers.

When Victoria is injured in a buggy accident, Jarrod manages to get her to the nearest town. But it's a near ghost town, and the reason for its decline is impossible for Jarrod to believe, until it turns out to be true.

OK, "doing the laundry" is a euphemism for skinny-dipping, at least between Jarrod and the girl who sees him.

What if you meet a spirit in the dark of night and it's yourself? Happy late Halloween.

Jarrod mourns for a client who was different, and who has been hanged.

Set just after "Under a Dark Star." Nick gets into a fight in Harry's saloon with Keno's nemesis Jack Follet, who is discovered dead in an alley 20 minutes later. This time, it looks like Nick might actually be responsible for Follet's death. The Barkleys have to figure out how to help him, with his lawyer laid up with a broken ankle.

Three short stories about Nick and his relationships with Heath, Audra and Jarrod.

Jarrod's client is a patient of an insane asylum and accused of killing one of the attendants. His family is concerned that he is spending day after day among the insane, especially Victoria - it is the same asylum where she was once imprisoned by a corrupt judge.

Early in his solo career as a defense attorney in Stockton, Jarrod represents a young woman with a bounty on her for extortion. It leads him into his first really complicated murder case. And it gives him a dizzying lesson on why murderers murder.

I've been posting this elsewhere and was asked to post it here so I am playing catch-up. This is dark AU - Heath arrives at the ranch, but Jarrod and Nick are no longer there, taken away after the war by the demons that followed them home. Heath tries to find them again.

Today - 9-17-18 - is the 156th anniversary of the Battle of Antietam. This is in memory of the 23,000 who were killed, wounded and missing in the most horrible 12 hours our country has ever seen. This is especially for Charlie King, killed at age 13, the youngest to die there. Lest we forget.

A psychic comes to Stockton to perform at the Gaiety and warns Nick of some dire mishap involving him and Heath.

A fluff piece sequel to "There's a Pony in Here Somewhere." Jarrod pulls out all the stops to make sure Heath's and Nick's romances continue.

An argument between Jarrod and Nick gets very out of hand and results in a run of bad luck that suddenly turns - better!

"Time After Midnight" irritates me for a couple reasons. Victoria is all tough love, too tough sometimes IMO. Judge Farnham, on the other hand, had to have turned very tough after the family got Jarrod out of the courtroom. His job was to have a trial, and you know he had to have big concerns about how things were going to go the next day. And you know he'd have let Vic know.

It's Audra's birthday, and she wants a small party for only the family. Then she gets caught in a storm, and a lot of plans change.

For those who think I've been too rough on Nick lately, and those who haven't, here is a brief magical story about him.

Someone is picking off the lawyers in Stockton, one by one. The Barkley brothers try to find out who before Jarrod ends up on his list.

After a terrible mistake, Nick can't stop remembering the lesson Jarrod taught him when they were boys about shooting a handgun. This story came to me when I was leaving the firing range.

Jarrod learns that sometimes you do everything right, but it all goes wrong anyway, and you can't keep the bad news from the people who love you even if you try.

While camped out on the way to Modesto, Jarrod and Heath are shot and Audra is abducted by two men planning to hold her for ransom. Forced to leave her wounded brothers behind, Audra knows she is going to have to get out of this mess on her own.

Grab the tissue, but not because this is a sad story. It's a story about reunion and finding someone you thought was lost forever. FYI, Liza is loosely based on a real woman who lived in Sharpsburg, Maryland in 1862.

In Ellicott City, Maryland (just outside of Baltimore) a man named Eddie Hermond was killed in a flash flood the other day, trying and succeeding in saving a woman caught in the flood waters. The word "hero" is overused these days, but this man really was a hero. The people who knew him said his actions were "so Eddie." This little BV blurb is in his memory.

Vignettes from Jarrod's and Nick's lives, beginning with Nick's birth in 1847 and ending with Heath's arrival in 1876.

MINOR CHARACTER DEATH. Set immediately after A Flock of Trouble and Time After Midnight. The murder of a close family friend sends the members of the Barkley family reeling in several different directions.

Jarrod gets a taste of what his clients go through when he is arrested for murdering four people in a stage coach robbery. While he languishes in jail, his mother and his lawyer work to get him out, while his brothers search for the real killers.

Several of the TV episodes centered on two brothers going off somewhere to rescue the third (or one rescuing the other two). Those stories followed the brothers, but did not pay much attention to the women left at home. This story follows Victoria and Audra as they wait for Nick and Heath to stop Jarrod from killing Cass Hyatt.

Jarrod finally finds the time to go on a hunt with Nick and Heath, but the fun turns serious when a rockslide, bad weather, and a larcenous farmer move in.

Audra befriends a little boy traveling to the orphanage at Stockton, and when their train derails and they are injured, the Barkleys take the little boy in until he's well enough to go to the orphanage. They discover that injuries and being an orphan are the least of his problems.

Follows Home from the Dead. Still unable to remember his past, Jarrod continues to rebuild his life and his career, again complicated by an old enemy - but this one isn't out to get him. This one needs his help.

This is an AU to WesternFan47's "Third Door to the Left." I asked WesternFan47 to write a story where Nick and Amanda can be together, but WF47 suggested I take a crack at it instead. Many thanks to WF47 for allowing me to do that and to use Amanda.

Follows "Fine Dreams." Heath takes his sons, Little Heath and Nicky to Strawberry, now a ghost town. This visit creates more than memories when his oldest, Little Heath, is forced to grow up in a hurry.

AU set one year after The Man from Nowhere. Nick and Heath did not find Jarrod in Rockville, and he has not regained his memory but has continued to wander and search for himself. Working at a ranch in Nevada, he sees an old newspaper with his own picture in it. He goes back to the Barkley ranch to find the Jarrod Barkley he doesn't remember being.

Follows Truth, Fibs and the Family Tree. It's 1893, and Victoria is thinking about the future of her grandchildren as her health begins to fail. When she has a stroke, the family sends for Dr. Eugene Barkley, who suggests an age-old treatment, but one that is still scary for his siblings.

Follows His Last Secret and relates back to Off to Placerville. Nick met Nancy because Sh. Madden had sent him on an awful errand that Nick couldn't say no to, because the sheriff held something over him from the previous Jan 1. Nick never told me what Sh. Madden had on him, but I overheard when he confessed to the women in his life. Here it is.

Follow-up to "When No One Cares Enough to Look." Audra is kidnapped by someone who leaves a note signed "Doulin," the man Jarrod rescued Cecilia Paine from. The Barkley men move fast to rescue her but is there more than one man involved in this, and if it is Doulin, how are they going to bring him to justice when he owns an entire town?

Set 8 years after "Anthony Jarrod Barkley" and "Life Turned Around." Jarrod's son J.J. and Nick's son Tony are fighting, egged on by stories made up by Heath's son, Little Heath. Nick and Heath decide it's time to set the boys straight.

Nick and Heath rescue Jarrod from a man who abducted him, believing Jarrod had his wife hidden from him, but they are forced to kill the man before anyone knows who he was. Fearing that the man's wife could also have been abducted but not knowing who she is either, Jarrod begins a search with virtually no information.

Happy Labor Day! Heath and Suzanne's baby is born, and there is happiness all around. Set 6 months after "Anthony Jarrod Barkley."

When Jarrod decides to defend Alan Kyles on a murder charge, the family decides he needs an assistant he can talk to and get help with Alan's defense. Surprisingly, it's Heath who volunteers.

Set a few months after "His Last Secret." Nick and Nancy's baby arrives but there are complications.

The family faces the memory of a traumatic incident in Audra's childhood when one of Jarrod's cases drags it up. Audra was only 5 and has no memory of it, but now, she has to revive it and face it as an adult.

Years ago, I worked too hard and spent too much time and concentration writing an important brief, which I thought was really brilliant. I learned a startling and hard lesson. I had a friend who did the same thing. In this two-chapter short story, it's Jarrod's turn to learn the same lesson. CAUTION everyone - THIS could happen to YOU!

An older widow, whom Nick thought of as a second mother when he was a kid, is in danger of losing her property to an adjoining landowner who claims it belongs to him. When the landowner's son begins "visiting" her a little too closely, Nick gets protective.

I never like "Alias Nellie Handley." Too implausible. If I had pulled a stunt like Victoria pulled, the aftermath at my house would have gone more like this.

Follow-up to The Good Thieves. Nick and Heath get the Dunnigan brothers back to Stockton, but its immediately clear the law may not be able to keep them both. There are problems with what Jarrod saw, and did not see, the night of the robbery, and that means more trouble from the Dunnigans. (My lawyer brain kicked in on this one.)

On the tenth anniversary of Tom Barkley's death, the Barkley siblings are all out of town, and Victoria is left dealing with her thoughts.

This story follows "After the Days," which I wrote last year. Following his trial for killing Cass Hyatt, Jarrod leaves home to make peace with himself. He finds it when he helps a lost boy get home. I originally published this story with an M rating, but I have deleted that story and rewritten it, both to change some things and to delete a scene between Jarrod and an Indian woman.

I've read a boatload of "Heath is hurt/sick" fan fiction stories. This one is the flip side. Everyone in the family EXCEPT Heath is injured, and he is running ragged to try to help them. Set a few months after Heath's arrival.

Set shortly after Heath's arrival. Another man who vaguely resembles both Jarrod and Nick shows up at the ranch, but he doesn't claim to be another son of Tom Barkley. He claims that he IS Jarrod Barkley, and that the man who came to the ranch at the end of the war is an impostor.

A quick follow-up to "Guilty." I watched it last week and it suffers from weird ending disease. At the end Jarrod leaves his family and 20 other people in the street to talk to Jeff Bowden's wife. Three minutes later, he leaves the Bowden house, goes out into the street and EVERYBODY'S GONE! He's left wandering the street alone. Where did everyone go? And what is Audra up to?

MAJOR CHARACTER DEATH I didn't want to write but it's inevitable. Jarrod's journey ends, on his terms.

It's the end of Nick's and Heath's weddings, and all Victoria's children are married!

Audra and Carl are anxious to adopt a baby left at the orphanage, but there are complications. Good thing there's a lawyer in the family.

News of Julia Saxon's death prompts the Barkley brothers to talk together about the war and some of their demons.

It's 1881. Nick is making his formal proposal to Nancy, and Audra is keeping a secret.

A one-chapter story. At the end of Christmas Day 1880, Jarrod and Eugene have a brief talk about life and marriage.

Christmas brings Eugene and his new bride to the ranch, and changes to Nick's and Heath's romances.

Everybody but Nick seems to realize that his relationship with Nancy is hitting a snag.

On Thanksgiving 1880, Jarrod realizes his son J.J. may live into the 1950s and wonders what the world will be like then. He puts his imaginings into a book, and in 1950 a 70-year-old J.J. looks back on all the things his father imagined (automobiles? levitating pool tables?).

Nick finally brings Nancy to Stockton, but Suzanne may be leaving. Her father arrives in town determined to take her back to Denver with him, thinking that because she is unmarried he can make her come with him.

Jarrod and Maggie's baby is coming, but so in another old enemy from Jarrod's past.

Nick and Nancy write letters to each other, until Nancy can sell her property and move to Stockton.

Jarrod and Maggie's new home is ready and they move in. They also make some other decisions about the future, and confront the unexpected.

This is the story of Audra's wedding to Carl Wheeler. Each chapter is told from the POV of one of the members of the wedding party, so there is some overlap between chapters, but not entirely. Everyone has their own take on the festivities, and Audra gets an unexpected surprise at the end.

Nancy Tyler, the woman Nick met on his way to Placerville, comes to the Barkley ranch, trying to decide what she wants in life and how to get it. Meanwhile, Nick is doing his own soul-searching, and the question becomes, do they want each other? This is the latest in the "Jarrod & Maggie" thread, which BTW, has a looooong way to go.

Jarrod and Maggie move back to Stockton, but they're not the only ones moving forward with their lives.

Going back to when Heath first joined the Barkleys. I watched Palms of Glory recently and wondered again how that family "discussion" went between the end of the fight st Sample's farm and breakfast the next morning. I imagine it went something like this.

More about Jarrod and Maggie, as their lives progress and change and surprises come at every turn. And even Nick gets something he wants.

A "Nick" interlude. Sheriff Madden cons Nick into delivering a troublesome prisoner to Placerville, and Nick discovers more than he planned to along the way. And don't ask me what Nick did on January 1, because he didn't tell me either.

Jarrod and Maggie continue their courtship - and he takes her home to meet the family.

It's Christmas 1879 at the Barkley ranch. Audra gets a terrific Christmas present, but she's also dealt a very bad blow when she is attacked by a stranger. As her brothers try to find the man who did it, Jarrod finds he has to give up a couple of his secrets.

In San Francisco, Jarrod finds himself falling in love with Maggie Larsen, the waitress at his cafe. But they are not kids - they are both widowed, and the both have heavy baggage in their lives, not the least of which is Jarrod's chronic illness. How can they navigate their own pasts and proper San Francisco society to build a real relationship?

It is late 1879 and Audra has come home from her travels, bringing a budding love for someone close to home, but also a nasty fever.

The search for the woman hiring gunman to kill the Barkley brothers continues as Jarrod settles into life in San Francisco and his family adjusts to life without him. Meanwhile more secrets, past and present, affect both the search and Barkley life.

This story begins at the end of The Court Martial (in 1877), then continues past The Secret (1879). A big change - perhaps long overdue - comes to the life of the Barkleys.

This story stands alone but is connected to The Perfumed Letter and The Boy Who Looks Like Me. Someone is after Heath now, and the Barkley men are getting more concerned about finding out who is behind everything.

Jarrod returns from a long trip to Sacramento to find his office has been dynamited by some unknown person. As the threat level increases, the only suspect he and his brothers can find is a young man who looks suspiciously like him.

In a scene from "The Man from Nowhere" Heath and Nick bring in the mail, and Heath has received a letter that he runs under his nose before he opens. It is perfumed. We never hear about it again, but it's bugged me for 50 years. WHO is that letter from!

Two years after living with the Matthews family while suffering from amnesia, Jarrod is approached by Danny Matthews, who needs legal help. His father, missing for four years and believed dead, has turned up.

I was reviewing my stories and realized I left someone important out of the "Aftermath Trilogy," so here is the missing piece, an extension of the end of the episode "Days of Wrath."

Nick needs help on a cattle drive while Heath has gone to New York with Jarrod. Nick is not a happy man.

I wrote this after watching "Fall of a Hero," and wondered what Heath would have been thinking about when he got home after being in jail.

This is the story of Jarrod and Heath's trip to New York City. It will take me a while to finish - it's turning out to be too much fun to write, as you can tell from the title.

When I wrote "Aftermath," Nick and Jarrod said they were fine with it but they said "You've left someone out. Keep writing." They seem to be ok with this, which centers on Audra and Heath, but I suppose I'll hear from them if they're not.

Set after "Days of Wrath." I've been messing with this for a long time, finally Nick and Jarrod told me they were okay with it.

I watched "The Martyr" yesterday, and at the end there was an interesting look Victoria threw at Jarrod after Francisco mentioned the beating the Basques had given him. Jarrod had not told her about it. My first thought was, "Ohhhh Jarrod, you will be paying for this…." My second thought was about his reasons for keeping quiet.

Seeing episodes again for the first time in years, I'm occasionally hit with "that needs a better ending" disease. I saw "Lost Treasure" today and immediately went "What?" Something big was left unsaid.

Time runs backwards in this story. Jarrod has taken another case that splits the family, but this time, he was right.

I began writing this before the terrible real life events of the week of July 3, 2016. I wanted to post it now. I use a lot of what I've learned volunteering at two Civil War battlefields. A lot of the factual information in here is, sadly, true.

I recently saw "Time After Midnight" for the first time in more years than I care to admit to. I thought it ended a bit abruptly. This story fills in a gap and extends the story a bit, finding Jarrod intending to make changes to his life whether he has his vision or not.

Nick falls in love with a beautiful wealthy widow who has just moved to Stockton, unaware that both Jarrod and Heath have histories with the lady.

We all have them, deep inside. Sometimes they get out, and we have to learn to control them before they control us.

I was feeling silly today and this came out. It takes place not long after "A Flock of Trouble."
