I wanted the Seven Kingdoms to have a connection to our world. And so Iridesa was born. In the story, Katsa's father, Lord Elliot, had cheated on her mother with her best friend, Vidia. But Vidia isn't a wealthy woman, by far. So his affair with her, and the child that resulted, was to be kept a secret. The only problem was that both his children bared a resemblance to each other. So Katsa's sister was sent away. Years later, a Graceling reveals to Katsa that she indeed has one immediate family member still alive: her sister. So Katsa goes out to find her and is shocked to discover a woman who seems almost nothing like her. Almost. The whole point of the story was to get more backround on Katsa, the Seven Kingdoms, and dealing with a history that you hate. Last Shot: Who doesn't love Cheshire? She is sly, witty, and just plain cool. Sometimes, looking at her and Artemis, you can see how they're sister's. But, besides Episode 6: "Infiltrator", we don't see them together or having any dynamic. Plus, the little ending in Episode 18: "Secrets" when Artemis asks "What kind of a sister--?" and then realized that Cheshire's ruthlessness rivaled Harm's, just totally enticed me. Wally and Artemis' characterization is beyond difficult, and I've read too many Spitfire multi-chap fanfictions that don't do it, or their relationship, justice. I figured safest way to go was a one-shot (and it was my first one at that). I loved the poetic-ness of Wally being fatally wounded by Artemis' arrow. It just seemed so right and so tragic. But, I couldn't kill Wally. I couldn't even emotionally bring myself to kill him, let alone write about it. Wally just doesn't deserve to die. And, as much as I enjoy Spitfire fluff, I wanted this one to have more weight to it, hence the feels. The Olympian Chronicles: Part of the idea for this one came as I was reading a Wikipedia article on Susan Pevensie during my Narnian obsession (I had a very severe case for a month after watching The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe and again after Prince Caspian). I never read the Last Battle, but on the Wikipedia article it mentioned how in her last moments with her family Susan...well, they weren't those feel-good family moments. (See link: http:///wiki/Susan_Pevensie) I felt sorry for her. I mean to have a Bruce Wayne pulled on her like that (Batman's family was shot right in front of him), was cruel enough, but on top of it, she was seen as weak, foolish, and a traitor in the eyes of her family right before she lost them. The second half came from Dream Works animated film Sinbad. The antagonist, Eris--the Goddess of Chaos, simply enchanted me. Coincidentally, soon after I learned about her myth (the Trojan War) and became even more intrigued with this character. Even before I read Neil Gaiman's "Sandman", I was in love with Morpheus. I had only heard about him once or twice before his appearance in Percy Jackson and the Olympians, but Rick Riordan's portrayal of him was what sold me, same way Dream Work's image of Eris did. Rachel was just always a character I liked and could identify with. I don't really know why I love her. Maybe it's because she was one of the few mortal character my age who wasn't an ignorant jerk, or maybe it was all just because she was a ginger--I guess we'll never know. Anyways, I just had to make her a component of the story because I felt she and Susan would be able to identify with each other well. They were both surrounded by those who were special--who had Destiny. And they weren't--at least not in the sense I suppose they would've wanted to be. Future Stories: Lucky Charm: Wally/Jinx vs. Wally/Artemis. For more on my opinion on this matter: http:///post/16873899681/w (and don't worry, it's pretty to the point). What, where was I? Oh, yeah. Well, if you read the link, then you would understand why this particular shipwar bothers me and why it practically gives rise to this fanfiction idea. (There was also this one post on YJ Secrets that I agree with that admits 'I would love to have Jinx on the show just to see her trolling around Artemis). The fanfiction is just a bit of a YJ spin on the Teen Titans Jinx that won our affections. Of course, there are a lot of kinks to the story, but in regards to Jinx's character, she's much darker, and is a really good foil for Artemis. At first, I thought Jinx's Madame Rouge, so to speak, should be Cheshire, but then I thought that the whole magic thing should give her some sort of relation to Klarion. A sister? A cousin? I don't know. But its a thought to play with. Next time I update, I would love to show a sneak peek. That's all for now, folks! |
