Where to start with my love for this fic? The tone is perfect for Roy and Riza, equal measures of respect and introspection, and it really makes you feel the weight of the scene in Lost Light, when everything just crashes down on Roy all at once. It's still one of my favourite scenes in fiction ever, because how often do you get the character refusing to save the person they love in return for ending the world? Roy has so much respect for Hawkeye, and values her respect so much, he's not going to give in to the one thing he wants more than anything else, and you *nailed* it. Kudos!

This is so good afnekgnekugvkse. Everything is so in character, from the dialogue to the descriptions. And the conversation at the end just /kills me/. "Very good. Your commitment is appreciated." Oh my word, these two, I can't. They /would/ discuss marriage like that in such careful, formal terms.

You know what I love about this? It's in character. I really loved how you emphasized Riza's importance to Roy. Sounds just like what Arakawa would write. It's not mushy but still "romantic" in the way only Roy and Riza could be.

Absolutely brilliant. I love how in-character they are and that conversation at the end is canon to me until proven otherwise :)
In all seriousness though, if Roy would propose to her, this is how it would be: still wrapped around the guise and workings of "Colonel Mustang and Lieutenant Hawkeye", not in a personal way. That's just how they work. And that's what's so beautiful yet painful about their dynamic. Until they reach their goal, they can never fully shed off the commander-subordinate facade and give in to just being "Roy and Riza".

So fantastic job on this fic! Honestly, this is one of the best (if not the best) Royai oneshot I've read. Love it!
