![]() Author has written 49 stories for Yu-Gi-Oh, Fullmetal Alchemist, .hack/SIGN, Yu Yu Hakusho, C – Control – The Money and Soul of Possibility, North and South, Psycho-Pass/サイコパス, and Code Geass. :The Past: I have a BA in Archaeology (with a Creative Writing minor) from the finest University in the world (at least, I think so xD) and my confirmation name is Cecilia, I pretty much have to write for Yu-Gi-Oh. :) But there's a few other fandoms I want to supplement as well. When I'm not finding lost civilizations and hunting for buried treasure I like to read the internet comic xkcd (I check it triweekly, and if you're into science I highly recommend it ); I'm terrible at driving and cooking and I wish I wasn't; The more obscure the music the greater likelihood I'm going to listen to it and like it (two words: Ludovico Einaudi); and I am something of a hopeless romantic... which means I'm pretty hopeless at being a romantic... :The Present: My penname comes from Orwell's novel 1984. It means to speak without thinking, or literally to quack like a duck. I thought I was being clever :) But it really is a good book. I actually can be fairly sarcastic/prone to quacking, so I guess it fits...? I don't know what could be a diminutive of the penname, its definitely too long to type. ...Plusle! (thanks Hikari Daeron) I will write whatever I feel like and I will read anything that's well written. Suffice to say, some things interest me more than others. I'll watch any anime that's pretty but I have only ever written/seriously read works of fanfiction in the Yu-Gi-Oh corner of this domain. I just really like the characters and the stories. With respect to pairings, I really don't see how many of them are founded in the actual series (one exception being PegasusxCecelia), but that's the beauty of fanfiction--you can use your writings to legitimize something, and through good fanfiction I think any pairing can be made possible. I'm not even going to get into the whole yaoi/yuri debate, because life happens, and people change and grow every day. I also don't like the phrase in-character. To me, in-character means that you are writing a canon-based story set during the time of the series. Therefore, it is not intrinsically possible to write a romance story and make it in-character. However, I much prefer the term in-voice. The main question I ask myself when reading and writing is: does this make sense? Could I write a romantic story with Kaiba set at this time and place and have it be natural and explainable? Taking everything into account, would X character act that way? That's why, again, I believe in good fanfiction. Through a good story, you can do anything. I'll read anything that will stand still long enough, but what I take the greatest joy in reading are hidden-treasure, secret-organization, gun-toting, page-turning thrillers. My favorites right now are everything written by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child, they write museum thrillers, Divination especially is an homage of sorts to their stories. I pride myself on giving intelligent, thorough reviews, so if you want me to critique a story, let me know!! If a review from me seems harsh, it's because I think you're awesome and know you can be even more so! Conversely, I love receiving reviews, as they are the lifeblood of every author on this site... :) Promise I'll reply to each one/return the favor! :The Future: So I won the YGO Fanfiction Contest Season 7!!! :D I'm so happy that I stuck it out for another season, and can't wait to do it all over again! If you're reading this because you're lurking (and seriously, there are so many hits on my profile page...who are all you people? ..Can't just be me refreshing) then you should totally look into it! Check out the page here. Signups for Season Nine are currently open, so please consider signing up! (I'm an information packrat so I hardly ever delete profile stuff, hence the below paragraphs :P) So I placed second in Compy's YGO Fanfiction Contest, which is nothing to scoff over, and motivation enough to enter Season 7, which started on February 1, 2010! :) So I'll be writing even more random one-shots all spring until they don't want me anymore :) I read so many thrillers, I think it'd be great fun to write something adventurous, but I've got a long way to go before that sees the light of day. There is this RebeccaxMokuba story I've been dying to write for years now, though. NEW STORY POSTED 2.24.10! It's called 'Cogito ergo sum' and is a prequel to .hack//SIGN. Quite possibly one of the better things I'll ever write, so do please read it! You don't even need to have watched the series, because its a prequel. But seriously... if you read anything of mine, read this. And possibly Mind Games. But this first. :The Quote: "Of what do you wish to write? --Becoming Jane :The Update: Moving Back has been working its way into a story for quite some time. It started with the thought: 'as the characters grow older, what would happen if Arthur Hawkins was diagnosed with Alzheimers?' and then grew into a story inspired by too many elements to name, but I'm very pleased with the final result. Final Contest entry is The Takeover, a nine-thousand-word-long epic that proves that, even in an AU/Adventure/SciFi/Romance/etc story, it really is all about the card games. xD Features devilmaycarethief!Bakura, sidekick!Marik, getswhathewants!Kaiba, and many pairings with no previous name: DiaboundxBEWD, BakuraxKisara, MokubaxMai, and KaibaxKisara. When they'll make it onto the site remains a mystery, though... :The Domino Effect: So I'm trying to slim down my profile by making a oneshot anthology--I hate scrolling down pages with a million stories on them when I'm trying to find just one, you know? So, in honor of Domino being the instant!love capital of the universe, apparently (there must be something in the water) I have titled this compilation The Domino Effect, with the umbrella summary being "I hardly know you, but already I feel like I love you." The stories will all be independent, unless otherwise noted. The compilation as a whole will not be marked as complete until I decide that TDE: version 2.0 should be made. :) Chapter One: For Justice! For Love! For Card Games!
