A little bit about me...

My name is Lanie and I'm 24. I have my B.A. in Social Work and am pursuing a Masters Degree, but my real passion is writing. I've been writing fiction since I was 15 and I love it! I have only written two fics up to this point and I'm looking forward to finally taking the plunge into the world of fanfiction. Since my guilty pleasure is everything related to High School Musical most of my fics, when I finally get around to writing them, will probably center on that.

Announcement: I'm writing this to let all of my loyal readers know that production of my new fic Shattered Innocence will begin soon. The inspiration has finally struck for me to do this plotline justice and I look forward to working on it. In the meantime, you can check out all my fics at: The Writers Den.

My Fanfiction Pet Peeves:

Trailers: I don't believe they are necessary. These are stories, not movies or TV shows.

Stories with no summary or those that say 'not good at summaries but I promise it's a good story': If a story doesn't have a summary, how are you going to entice me to read it?

Spelling Mistakes: I understand the occasional mistake because I'm guilty of them myself, but there's no excuse for something simple like spelling the characters name wrong. For future reference, it's Troy Bolton and Sharpay Evans. Those are two of the most common ones I see.

Bad Grammar: Now I'll admit I'm not the grammar queen but I try to avoid blatant mistakes. You should too.

Stories with an abundance of dialogue: Describing actions or feelings makes a story, dialogue is just an added bonus.

And finally, my number one pet peeve...

People who write a review for the sole purpose of expressing their hatred toward a slash pairing: Most slashes mention the pairing in the summary and, as an added bonus I bring it up in the beginning author's note before I start the story. I warned you, and if you don't like the pairing but still choose to read, that's on you. Don't flame me for it because I don't want to hear it. I like constructive criticism and reviews.

Pairings I love:

Troy x Ryan: There's nothing like the love between The Basketball Guy and The Drama King. Angst is good, but I have a huge soft spot for Tryan fluff.

Troy x Sharpay: Some fics in this genre are amazing! Their personalities often clash but they balance each other out beautifully. I'm a sucker for a good Troypay love story.

Ryan x Kelsi: The two quiet members of the East High gang make a fantastic couple.

Ryan x Sharpay (brother-sister only, very little twincest): Their friendship is one of a kind. Awww, twin love!

Zac x Nikki: Chemistry, much? Yeah...that's what I thought.

Pairing I Hate:

Most Troy x Gabriella: People don't take enough of a risk with these two. Some fics are good, but most of them are the same 'he loves her, she loves him' formula with very little substance. Boring.

My Fics:

The Day the World Stopped: Troy and Gabriella were living the perfect life with friends, love, a daughter. Then 9/11 tore it all apart. Troy reflects on how that tragic day changed the East High gang on the 5th anniversary. (Complete).

Tempting Fate: Troy takes care of a drunk Ryan after a musical cast party. A fluffy Troy x Ryan oneshot. (Complete).

Daddy's Little Girl: Troy and Ryan reflect on life and love as they prepare to send their daughter to her first day of preschool. A fluffy Troy x Ryan oneshot (Complete).

Shattered Innocence: Troy and Ryan are enjoying a budding relationship after the Spring musical. Life is good but then Ryan gets some news that will change both their lives forever. How will they cope? (Plot idea formed, writing to begin soon)

When Fate Intervenes: With the 5th anniversary of 9/11 behind them, Troy thinks that life will return to normal for he and Kadi. But fate has other plans. Sequel to The Day The World Stopped. (Plot idea forming, writing to begin January 2008).
