I probably should look to write something here. I have tried twice before to write a profile but gave up on both occasions. They say third time is the charm so here we go...

I didn't read any of the Harry Potter books until just after HBP was published. I had actually avoided them as I tend to do with anything that I feel is unnecessarily hyped by the media. Never the less, I gave them a whirl and after two attempts I made it through The Philosopher's Stone and then The Chamber of Secrets in rapid secession.

I don't think I really began to love the series until I read Prisoner of Azkaban; I'm not sure why that is, but I think it is probably the first book which is a little more adult and where the story begins to develop. Onwards through GoF and OotP and on to HBP, which is my favourite book of the series. By this time I wasn't reading to find out what happened to Harry, I wanted to know about Severus Snape. Needless to say I threw the book across the room at the end of HBP (as a huge bibliophile, that's not a small matter!!) and kept the faith and read a lot of fan fiction until DH.

I have been reading SSHG FF since about 2006 but had not published a story of my own. I have about three unpublished stories which are in various states of undress and I will look to finish them when I have the time. A couple are rather lengthy and need a lot of editing. 'What I desire' took me a long time to finish; much longer than I anticipated, but I knew I would always see it through to the end - I know the frustration of investing in an abandoned story. With this in mind I have decided that I will not publish any future stories until they are completed, at least in draft form (I totally didn't stick to this when I wrote TIW!!!!)

As a reader I tend to prefer stories which are post-Hogwarts and which are set at least a couple of years after DH, though that's not to say I haven't enjoyed stories from other timelines.

Lastly, I want to thank all of those authors who have taken the time to write and publish their stories :)
