I first found this fic many, many years ago. It was one of the first SS/HG stories I ever read. I've re-read it so many times over the years and it remains to this day, despite the countless others that I've read since, my favorite.

I've read all sorts of permutations on how Snape ends up alive after the Shrieking Shack - usually involving Blood Replenishing Potion, a Bezoar and/or Anti-Venin Potion, with or without a Time-Turner or Invisibility Cloak being involved - but this is the first time that I've seen THIS theory!
