Reviews for Just a Game
Lucy Barton chapter 31 . 8/26/2019
Thank you so much for your kind and precious words. They actually mean a lot to me and I hope one day I can be as great writer as you. I also wish you the best of luck on your future projects and all the happiness in the world.
littleREAofsunshine chapter 31 . 7/26/2019
As a young-ish writer, this really means a lot to me. I always doubt my writing and used to throw away my stories on paper. I now no longer throw away my stories but I have so many just sitting on my computer because I have gone back because after rereading them I don’t think they are good enough. So thank you for this!
Whumpdeedoo chapter 31 . 7/24/2019
I'm so glad you never deleted it! It's one of my favorite avengers fanfictions to this day, has been for years. I'm glad it inspired you, and glad you took the time to try and inspire us! Thank you!
Cuthalion97 chapter 31 . 7/17/2019
Okay, well, I found this story yesterday morning. :) I'm still trying to figure out whether or not I believe that you were fifteen when you started writing this. I'd like to not believe it, mainly from a misplaced sense of shock that your story is about, oh, six times better than the story I wrote at that age (get it? Six?) :)

The writing is a little rough, sure, but I'm glad you've decided not to delete it. The all-important Plot and Character Development in this story is too good for it to be deleted.

Where on earth did you get all these ideas? . . . Or do I not want to know? Very well-conceived plot, suspenseful and gripping! And your action sequences are really good! Let me know if you ever publish something! (Too bad we can't officially publish fan fiction, right?) ':) Thanks for a very enjoyable read!
distanceincrowdedrooms chapter 31 . 7/9/2019
Thanks for not deleting it! You have nothing to be embarrassed about though! Just a Game is a great story with lots of action and feels. :) Thanks for writing and best wishes to you in your future endeavors! (Now I might just go back and re-read Just a Game! I'm pretty sure I read it twice already)
anon chapter 31 . 7/6/2019
I stumbled across this fic a few years ago and it really got me. I hope you know I remembered while watching Endgame.
Similar thing happened to me, too! Any chance the author was mgsylvester? They wrote things like “Hell is Cold” and “Lactic Acid.” I know they had a few multi-chapter pieces, but I can’t remember the titles.
Anyway, I hope you know that seeing this update was just what I needed, since I’m considering studying humanities in university and needed a boost of confidence. I wish you all the best, and I hope to see your name in the credits soon. Never forget where you started; it was already so good, and you can only get better!
DarthAbby chapter 30 . 5/8/2019
Hey, Fleet. Long time no talk.

It's been 6 years since this story last updated. I saw Endgame just over a week ago - doing a tour of my favorite 2012 era Avengers fics because of it. "Just A Game" always was and always will be on my list of Best OG Avengers Fics, and I just wanted to let you know that, even now in 2019, this story still resonates. It's still beautifully crafted, and even though I knew what twists were coming, it's just a solid story that was wonderful to return to.

I don't have much more to say except thank you. And, I guess, if you want to talk, I'm on tumblr (butim-justharry) and twitter ( darthabbyyy). It's been great going down memory lane with this fic again - thanks for the ride :)

Sincerely,
Abby

Wow, I'm so glad you let us know they were all safe at the beginning of chap 22. Wow- honestly, I skimmed some of the chapters because I just could not deal with all the anxiety and suspense. This was one crazy story. I love the complexity of it and the confusing time skips. I also love how you really dive deep into the character's inner drama and their relationships with each other. I think you really brought out Bruce, Natasha and Steve. Hmm the only critique I have would be that Thor seems to be a bit lacking, but then again- the image I have of Thor tends to be on the more humorous side, while your fic is far from humor. So maybe it works? But woww- this was so fun to read, and really had me clicking in anticipation at the end of each chapter.
distanceincrowdedrooms chapter 6 . 1/29/2019
This is really creative fic. It's full of mystery- and the villian is so interesting.
Mellia Bee chapter 25 . 6/28/2018
First read this story long, long before I ever had an account. Found it again the other day while going through my bookmarks, and thought I’d give it a re-read, since all I remembered was that it was incredibly tense and that Steve had some truly great moments throughout. Couldn’t remember exactly how it ended though, so that’s why I couldn’t put it down! Read until the early hours of the morning last night, and almost missed my ride to work this morning because I was still reading it as I got ready for the day. Excellent world building you have here, and your foreshadowing and weaving together of the many plot lines was well done. And the WHUMP?! Good grief, the incredible whumpiness is off the scale! And that moment when Bruce crawls through the chains? Or when Steve collapses laughing in the water? Or Thor slowly stepping forward? Moments like that just do something to a reader, they really do.

So anyway, I don’t know if you’ll ever see this, but I just wanted to thank you for writing and sharing this story. It’s quite epic, truly, and I really enjoyed reading it again. Thank you.
The anomalous chapter 25 . 5/31/2018
Wow! I have no words to express how amazing this story was. I am awed at how you managed to create and plot the whole of this story (and keep a track of where all the characters are and at what times!). It is truly ingenious and I have rarely come across any fanfics that are this well thought through.

The only bit of constructive criticism I can think of would be to give us a mini sub-heading of when and where we are at the start of each of you page breaks as I found it a little difficult to follow in places - particularly when you jumped from "the game" to a memory of the past, then to the future, and back! However, I agree that the confusion added to the suspense in a few key parts.

And I'm so pleased you didn't kill off Cap! After he tried to look out for all of his team throughout the whole game he deserved to live! I also really appreciated how you touched on the fact that Cap really is a good tactician and strategist - I doubt any others would have been able to get all the players through the game and use each of their strengths so perfectly. I agree with you that Cap holds all the team together and without him they would really struggle to function!

So, thanks for all the time and effort you put into this story - I have thoroughly enjoyed reading it and look forward to looking at your other stories after I post this review :)
Guest chapter 25 . 9/14/2017
I loved this story and both endings. But this wasn't a Steve-centric story you once said, this was a team-fic with an ensemble cast which was pretty good.
Guest chapter 22 . 9/14/2017
The conversation between Tony and Nat feels pretty ironic after the events of Age of Ultron.
Good chapter anyway,
Frosty Abyss chapter 14 . 9/11/2017
Well..that was intense. Tony and Bruce's interactions were really sad.
Frosty Abyss chapter 10 . 9/10/2017
Well-done chapter. I enjoyed the characters. And Juliet Burke from Lost XD
