A few months into their five-year mission and Enterprise is on a rescue mission for Outpost Six. When Enterprise is called away on an emergency, it leaves Kirk and McCoy and a small rescue crew behind. But soon it's Kirk who needs rescuing. Will Enterprise return in time or will the Outpost claim another victim?

Outright war has broken out between the Federation and the Klingon empire. Meanwhile, Leonard has been haunted by strange dreams, isolated from his friends, alone and lost amongst a raging battle on an alien planet. All the while the foundations of their reality are cracking. When things are most dire, something impossibly mysterious will present our doctor with a proposition.
