Author has written 12 stories for Buffy X-overs, Charmed, Buffy: The Vampire Slayer, and Angel. I'm new to the fan fiction world so I hope that I will get a lot of constructive criticism with my first fics. I discovered fan fiction about six to nine months ago. Originally, I read Buffy, the Vampire Slayer & Angel fan fiction, but I have rapidly expanded that. One of my pet peeves of the fan fiction world is how little proof reading and care people put into their fics. Now, I can understand a typo or misspelled word here or there. And I can certainly understand if people don't have perfect grammar. But, in my opinion, a lot of the fiction out there is completely unreadable because the person doesn't even try. Okay, I got that off my chest, now to more pertinent matters. The following are some of my favorite characters and couples. Books Lt. Eve Dallas and her rich, gorgeous husband Roarke (J. D. Robb) Detective Inspector Lynley (Elizabeth George) Dirk Pitt (Clive Cussler) Susan Sizemore's vampire world Television Buffy and Angel – true soul mates in my opinion. The characters of Riley and Spike really were horrible ideas to replace Angel. Especially Spike. I disliked Riley, don't get me wrong, it's just that I feel if we were keeping in character, Angel would've slaughtered Spike for even touching Buffy. I always felt that Josh owed it to us to at least have Buffy standing side-by-side Angel fighting in the Angel finale. (Not to mention, I thought Angel should've stayed in Sunnydale to help fight the First. Fantasy pair-up: Cole Turner and Willow Rosenberg. I surprised more people haven't realized the potential of this couple. Two very intelligent people who have a great potential for darkness within. There are quite a few BtVS/Angel/Charmed crossovers (some quite awkwardly written), but none with these two. Fox Mulder and Dana Scully – The X-Files – Two of the best characters hand-down in television history. Some of their scenes had more passion than the best love making on television, yet it was all platonic. As a note, I thought there was potential for a Fox Mulder/Melissa Scully relationship. They had excellent chemistry in the few scenes they had together. Phoebe Halliwell and Cole Turner – Charmed - One of the best romance stories on television. In fact, I really didn't like the show without Julian McMahon in it. His character was so much more complex than the others. And, he and Alyssa sure burned up the screen. I also felt they could've ended the storyline more in line with the characters. If you watch the pre-Prue's death episodes, you realize that Cole will do anything for her and vice versa. There are quite a few instances where she gives him the benefit of the doubt and acts on love and not sisterly loyalty. I don't believe that Phoebe would've just given up on Cole and I think it'd have been better to just kill off Cole, or perhaps put him on the run. Note: I also think it would've been an excellent opportunity to let Phoebe have a child by Cole. Think of the plot advantages. Raising the “twice-blessed” child is one thing, but add to that a partially demonic child and all those challenges. Oh, well, unfortunately I don't have any pull with Mr. Spelling. Bobby Goren – Law & Order: Criminal Intent – Truly one of the funnest detectives to watch on television! Fantasy pair-up: Bobby Goren meets Fox Mulder! Think how frustrated Agent Scully and Detective Eames will get! Nicholas Knight & Jannette – Forever Knight – I really did love this show and still miss it dreadfully. However, I never really thought they fully explored Nick & Janette's relationship. Also, I really didn't care for the Nick & Natalie pairing. Actually I thought that Natalie & LaCroix had excellent chemistry. Fantasy pair-up: Nick Knight gets a new partner – Angel! Now, that'd be fun! Other greats: Kolchak, the Night Stalker, Highlander, Battlestar Galactica (original). I am going to try and write my first story this month. Please send me your thoughts – good and bad! |
