Author has written 21 stories for Once Upon a Time, Lord of the Rings, and Chronicles of Narnia. Well, since people are actually reading my stories (YAY!), I guess I'll do a brief profile. I'm obsessed with various things, mostly British, though I do enjoy Once Upon a Time and a few other American shows. I'm usually a rather sarcastic, ironic person, which will probably bleed through into my stories, though hopefully not in a way which will alter the characters too drastically. I do usually stick to writing slightly ironic characters anyway. This is why Hobbits will only rarely be featured in my stories; I just can't seem to get their wide eyed innocence to ring true. (No pun intended) I also love Tolkien's poetry. Every Lord of the Rings fic I have ever written and probably ever will write features a poem, verse, or sometimes more than one. If you haven't already I highly suggest watching the brilliant Lord of the Rings Prequel; Born of Hope which can be found here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qINwCRM8acM. It's an amazing independent production which tells the story of Arathorn and Gilraen. A few notes about my stories A few notes about what you will find in my stories: I don't write slash (m/m or f/f) nothing against anyone and their personal choices, it just isn't something I read or write. I have never written anything above a T rating and so far do not intend to. I will probably mostly write Lord of the Rings stories with the possibility of an occasion Pirates of the Caribbean tale. However, I adore Tolkien's writing and so will mostly stick to honouring it as best I can. I also love reviews! They inspire me to keep posting, so please, if you read my work drop me a few words to say what you thought. Constructive criticism is every bit as welcome as praise! I hope to see you all around! Update: So many stories to write; so little time to write them! Well, I would have had more time if I hadn't watched all sixteen episodes of Timeless in three days, but what can I say? That being said I do have three, maybe four stories in progress; two more one shots are nearly complete and I have possibly two longer stories being written as well. The one shots will hopefully be posted this week and the release date for my other stories is probably late next week; I want to have at least five chapters of each completed before I post so they will not remain incomplete. You can find more information about all of my upcoming stories in the summary section right here. Summaries: I have created my own, only slightly AU, series of story lines. So, in order here are the stories, published and upcoming, which fit into this series. A Light From The Shadows: A prequel of sorts for Isildur's Heir. The Lord of Imladris had spent long years caring for the heirs of his brother's bloodline, but none relied so utterly on his hospitality as the young son of Arathorn. To the others he was always Lord Elrond; he had never expected this child to call him father. One shot featuring Elrond, Elladan, Elrohir and young Estel (Aragorn). Coming soon. Isildur's Heir: Wraiths, bandits, betrayal and a meddling wizard...What could possibly go wrong? Set thirty years after The Hobbit movies during Aragorn's time with the rangers. Aragorn has spent his life evading the destiny he may now have to face, but even Gandalf cannot begin to predict the danger he finds himself in. What now stands between the Heir of Kings and certain death? Multi-chapter featuring Aragorn, Gandalf, Legolas, Elrond, a treacherous OC, a cameo appearance by Glorfindel and the twins, and a surprise visit from a very important character who shall here remain nameless. Now under revision, but the plot will remain the same. A Ranger's Folly: The descent into darkness of Eradan the ranger was not a simple matter. His hatred was borne of a dark and bloody day and grew in the shadows of a Chieftain's absence. A companion piece to Isildur's Heir; one shot featuring my Eradan, one of my OCs, and Saruman the White. Complete. The King Who Will Be: Aragorn travels to Rohan, at the urging of Gandalf the Grey, seeking courage in the land of men. He never expected the presence of an elf would cause so much panic in Rohan, but despite Gandalf's warning Legolas will not leave his side. Danger seems to follow the ranger and elf as war looms before Rohan and threatens to plunge the West into darkness. Multi-chapter featuring Aragorn, Legolas, Gandalf, Thengel King, and a few OCs. In progress; coming soon. When The Stars Fade: Aragorn has traveled many paths and faced many dangers beneath the light of the watchful stars. When his path threatens to take him beyond their comforting light despair threatens to overcome him. A visit from an old friend must be enough to help him carry on even where the stars are strange. One shot featuring Aragorn and Earendil the Mariner. Complete. My other two Lord of the Rings stories are not necessarily part of this storyline and therefore do not need to be read with my other stories. Flame of The West: The Ring sang to Aragorn in his dreams, weaving darkness with its lies, but the heir of Isildur is not so easily entrapped. One shot featuring Aragorn, The Ring, and Anduril, Flame of the West. Complete. To The Edge of Night: The last ride of Faramir, Captain of Gondor. Through shadow; to the edge of night. One shot; very short, featuring Faramir. Complete; may be revised and extended in the near future. I have a few Chronicles of Narnia stories posted as well and more in the works! Chronological List of Narnia Stories: The following stories are part of the same, mostly canon compliant universe as The City Ruinous. I recommend reading them together, chronologically, but the storylines are not directly intertwined in most cases and can be read separately. Resurgent Fealty: In the preparations for, and aftermath of, the Pevensies' coronation Peter finds himself needing to protect his siblings with words, rather than weapons. He can do little more than hope that he will somehow find the right words, to not only ensure his fellow monarchs are given the respect they deserve by their new subjects, but to also reforge and strengthen their bond as a family. Movie-verse, Beginning of the Golden Age; Mainly Canon Compliant but with an alternate take on the coronation. NO PAIRINGS. Complete. The City Ruinous: The four rulers are invited to a feast at a city of the Northern Giants, and, while they are prepared for some form of treachery, the danger that lies in wait for them is beyond anything they imagined. Peter, Edmund, and Lucy must survive in a hostile country and city while awaiting Susan's arrival with Narnian aid. All the while, Peter's behaviour becomes more unusual and a beautiful woman seems to hold him in her spell. Book and movie verse-early Golden Age; No sibling pairings. Complete. In the Spirit of Sacrifice: Set in the aftermath of the events detailed in "The City Ruinous". Gifts are given and returned, Peter wishes he could get a decent night's sleep, and Susan discovers first hand why inciting a war with her younger brother is always a disastrous plan. Lighthearted family story; Canon compliant, book and movie-verse. NO PAIRINGS. Complete. The Measure of a Sovereign: The Northern Giants have been forced into retreat, the Calormen have so far upheld their current peace treaty, and the last of the Fell Beasts have been driven from Narnia. All should be peaceful, but there are wars not fought on the battlefield and these can sometimes prove more dangerous than those which are. With Peter inconveniently confined to Cair Paravel, and Susan beset by multiple, troublesome suitors, it falls to Lucy to set sail for the Lone Islands in hopes of preventing a political coupe. Meanwhile Edmund departs on a mission of his own, and is uncertain who is more cross about the new Royal Adviser accompanying him-himself or Peridan, the hapless Archenlander who soon finds spying to be very disagreeable. Peter considers that it will be miraculous if he manages to refrain from murdering Susan's suitors, Susan considers banning all male visitors from Cair Paravel, Lucy encounters pirates and discovers her love of deserted islands, and Edmund wishes there were not quite so many ways of addressing a king that will lead to being pursued by angry Calormene guards. Golden Age Story. NO PAIRINGS. T for violence and some suggestive material, but nothing graphic. Book and movie-verse canon compliant. In Progress Learning to Go On: Beginning after their return to England the first time this set of collected one shots traces Peter and Edmund's readjustment to life after being rulers. For Edmund going back to who he was before Narnia is not an easy thing to face, but in the end it may be Peter who forgets who he became. Post LWW to post PC movie-verse. NO PAIRINGS; slight AU. Complete. Crownless: A post VODT through Last Battle story told in a series of connected oneshots. It deals mainly with the various difficulties faced by the Pevensies as they adjust to life in England with no chance of returning to Narnia. Book and movie verse-NO PAIRINGS; Canon Compliant. Complete. The Curious Incident of the Man With the Gun: One-shot, outsider point of view concerning the Pevensie brothers. Set immediately pre-Last Battle. A quiet afternoon in a small pub near Cambridge becomes something far more interesting as the Pevensies prove, once again, just how different they are. Canon Compliant; NO PAIRINGS. Complete. Not Part of the "City Ruinous" story-line: King's Bane: Golden Age multi chapter story. Ten years into their reign the four Pevensies find themselves facing daunting obstacles when Peter suddenly goes missing. It is up to Susan, Lucy and Edmund to find their brother while preventing war with Calormen, but dark forces are at work in Narnia and the return of old enemy leaves the future of Narnia and the four sovereigns uncertain. NO PAIRINGS; canon compliant, book-verse and movie-verse. Complete. Gentle Queen: Post Last Battle one shot. Susan is left cold and bitter after the accident which claimed the lives of her entire family. It seems impossible for her to ever find her way back to faith until she receives three letters; one from each of her siblings. Sad with a hopeful theme. NO PAIRINGS; canon compliant. Complete. I'm also in the process of becoming obsessed with the TV show Timeless, due to that I will probably be writing a few stories about that. I have a one shot in the works and more details will be posted soon. Coming soon? Definitely. My sister has written two Once Upon a Time story which are posted here as well. Not sure if she is writing more but if she does I will post them. More Than Just a Pirate: Two times Killian gets drunk and the two heroes who come to give him hope in the darkness. Set in the Dark Swan arc of season five. CaptainSwan with a side of CaptainCharming friendship. Sad with a dash of hope. Complete. Wake Me Up: Missing/extended Captain Swan scenes from Awake. Killian's thoughts when he is captured by the Lost Boys and Emma's when he is back by her side at last. Complete. A Note About My Narnia Stories: There have been a few questions raised in PM's, all very kindly and with the intention of asking for information and not criticising, so I decided to address the most common of these questions here. I love both the books and the movies and so the stories I write are usually a mix of both. Lucy will always be blonde, though I still picture her as Georgie Henley. The other three look exactly as they did in the movies. I am a firm believer that Susan returns to her belief in Narnia after the train accident. I also tend to write her departure from belief rather generously, as a result of loss and pain at being torn away from Narnia, not as a result of her becoming a silly, fashion obsessed young woman. Spoilers for The City Ruinous ahead-proceed only if you have reached Chapter 21 and read my opening author's note: It has also been noted that my stories can get rather dark. Yes, I absolutely agree that they can. If you have read certain chapters of The City Ruinous then you'll know what I'm referring to. If you have not then consider this your official warning. As a writer, fanfiction and original, I try to write from life and experience as much as possible. That may seem strange considering I write fantasy, and while I obviously haven't fought giants, been enchanted by witches, or trapped in a nightmarish dream sequence for an extended period of time, I do use my own experiences to inform the characters' reactions to certain events. Without going into too much detail I will say that parts of The City Ruinous are based on my own recurring panic attacks and my sister's way of dealing with them. Chapters 8 and 9 are rather dark with what happens to Edmund being based on an event which effected me similarly (if you have questions feel free to PM me and I will be happy to talk with you). Chapter 18 deals, albeit slightly distantly, with a PTSD induced panic attack. Chapter 21 goes into more detail and deals with a sibling's reaction, how correct or incorrect that reaction is really does depend on the individual and situation, to the trauma their sibling is experiencing. As someone who suffers from panic attacks, goes to counseling for PTSD, and frequently has vivid memory-like nightmares I have portrayed these reactions and circumstances as they occur to me. I'm not claiming to be an expert, everyone may have different reactions, but I am claiming accuracy as far as my own experiences go. Writing is very therapeutic for me but I did not originally intend to draw so heavily from these particular experiences, that being said, once the chapters were written, it was impossible to write anything else. If you suffer from PTSD, claustrophobia, or panic attacks this story may potentially be triggering for you. If you want to read the story and avoid the more problematic chapters please do feel free to PM me and I will be happy to tell you which chapters deal with these elements and give you a trigger free summary of the important aspects of the chapter. If you have further questions please PM me :-) A Note About My Version of the Narnian Calendar: I am creating my own version of the Narnian Calendar for my next multi chapter story. 1. Frostmelt (April) *This was recognised as the start of the New Year at the beginning of the Golden Age to celebrate the yearly defeat of Winter. 2. Blomenfield (May) *Essentially 'bloom field' from an old English root 3. Greenroof (June) *This is the only month named by Lewis 4. Brightmoon (July) 5. Drygesun (August) *Dry sun-again, Old or Middle English 6. Harvestmonath (September) *Monath meaning month in Old English 7. Leaf-fall (October) 8. Coldnight (November) 9. Yuletide (December) 10. Bitermonath (January) 11. Stone-earth (February) 12. Gwylltwind (March) *Gwyllt comes from the Welsh word for wild or fierce I have decided that each month is made up of four weeks, each of which is eight days long. This makes the months thirty-two days exactly with no variance from month to month. A Narnian year still consists of twelve months since I see no reason to change that. Narnian weeks, as I already stated, are eight days long and are named with the numbers in order i.e. Firstday, Second-day...etc. Reviews: I absolutely love reviews! I respond to (nearly) all the ones submitted by signed in authors, and most of the time will acknowledge guest reviews in my author's notes. That being said, if I don't immediately respond to your review, don't worry! I still value you as a reader and have likely suffered a temporary outage of wi fi. "Writing is like a fever; once it catches you in its grip there is nothing else you can do until it lets you go." -Honestly not sure who said this, but I like it. "How do you write like tomorrow won’t arrive? How do you write like you need it to survive?
Also, I should definitely stick to writing, not drawing, but I do occasionally attempt to draw. If you want to, you probably don't, you can find me on DeviantArt as awilliamsbbc98. Happy reading! -A ;) |
