Kaneki becomes a ghoul. Kaneki panics and calls Hide. Together, the duo tries to figure out a way for Kaneki to eat without killing anyone. (In which much research is done, science experiments are conducted and the CCG is bombarded by two college students)

Panic. That was the feeling that consumed Hide's mind while being held captive in a room for days. But that isn't his only problem; there's something different about his body, and he doesn't know what. After escaping and being reunited with his best friend after months of separation, he soon finds out what has changed. Now, Hide must adapt to this new lifestyle—or die trying.

"How is your superior? Sasaki Haise…that's his name, right?" Urie nearly hacks up a lung. The waiter watches him sputter with a perpetual smile. "Who are you?" Urie demands, leaning forward with palms splayed on the table. "Someone who just wants an old friend to be happy."
