Renkon means "lotus root" and is a vegetable that is often eaten pickled, served in salads, or stir-fried. It has a similar flavor to water-chestnuts but a different texture.

Nairu (within the context of my penname) has no meaning at all, I made it up when practicing my katakana. However, "Nairu" does have a meaning within the wider Japanese language. 「ナイル」 refers to the Nile, as in the Nile River, ナイル川 or "Nairu-Kawa". Just interesting trivia that I thought should be explained to avoid confusion.

What I Read:

DC Superheroes: While I am a fan of the wide and diverse DC comic verse(s) and animated verse(s), the only things I really find myself reading fics for are the Young Justice cartoon (see below), Wold's Finest (Batman/Superman teamups [and romantic ships]), and -most of all- the Tim/Kon ship. Tim Drake and Kon-El. Red Robin and Superboy. I ship them so hard! There's a lot of fics for them on AO3, but if there are as many here on FF.N, they're harder to find. It'd be really nice if there were more Tim/Kon authors here on ff.n, but thus far I haven't really found any. It doesn't appear to be a popular ship.

Dragon Ball Z: Mostly, Vegeta and Bulma romance. My favorite character is actually Trunks, but I've found that most of the Trunks fan base are either bad writers or have silly ideas and so I find V/B get togethers to be far more enjoyable. But I really wish Kizmet would update more offten. (-sad face-)

Princess Tutu: Any introspective one-shots. I have no character preferences for Princess Tutu, they're all awesome! That whole anime is awesome! (You should go watch it. Do it now!) Unlike the rest of the fandom, however, I actually liked the ending of the anime and so prefer not to read "season three" fan fictions, opting instead for anything portraying the characters' thoughts on the whole thing after all is said and done or a missing scene or two from the anime.

Star Wars: While I do love the EU (or 'Legends' as Disney has dubbed them since Disney bought the franchise), I absolutely HATE Vector Prime and everything that comes after it. So, I probably won't read anything taking place in that era (unless is has a very interesting premise and comes highly recommended). What I do love are fics based off the Original Trilogy or any of the EU/'Legends' books taking place between ANH and Vector Prime. Any Gray!Luke stories are good, also, alternate versions of the romance between Luke and Mara, and of course any Daddy Angst stories between Vader and Luke. Also, Kylux (Kylo Ren/General Hux).

Star Wars Rebels: I like two things from this sub-fandom of the larger Star Wars fandom. 1.) Any humorous drabbles or one-shots where the villains are the butt of the joke, or the punchline is at the villain's expense. (An example of this would be my own one-shot "Muttonchop".) /shameless self-promotion. 2.) The other thing I like to read I have only actually see two fics of (and one of them wasn't even in English), so if you wanna do something original that will set you apart from other fan fic authors, I highly recommend you try this. A crossover between Rebels and the Original Trilogy where Ezra and Luke meet and work together. It can be either slash, where Luke and Ezra are shipped romantically, or just purely platonic allies. Either works for me. I just want to see them interacting together in the same scene. (Double points if its an AU where Luke was raised by Vader and is sympathetic to the Empire.)

(Disney's) Gargoyles: Anything that's well written and shows real thought on the authors part. I have no character preference, the whole cast of characters is wonderful! The whole show was wonderful! (Except the "Goliath Chronicles" that was shit on a stick.) Likewise, I have no genre preferance either, so long as its well written and thought out I'll like it.

Young Justice: I have decided that I want some nice, cute Tim/Kon slash. Not yaoi, please, (although if the sex is done 'right' I wouldn't mind) but what I really want is some good ol' boys-romance with Tim/Kon. Yup. *nods* I think their relationship would take on an interesting dynamic due to Tim being so young in Earth-16 and Kon's personality being so dramatically different from the comics. I want to see how people think their ship would play out with these differences.

Ben 10: Okay, so I know I got into the fandom late and most of the Gwevin authors have already left the fandom. But all I wanna read is Gwevin fics. Dark!Gwevin, fluffy!Gwevin, goofy!Gwevin, angsty!Gwevin. True love, love-hate, soul mates, toxic love. All of it! Just so long as its Kevin and Gwen. Gwen is just so smart, assertive, temperant, and clever. While Kevin is hot-headed, a little thick, stubborn, and puts up a "tough guy" front but is really a big softy. They're like Princess Leia and Han Solo and I really wished more people shipped them. I don't care what the Ben 10,000 future might imply or not imply, I can't imagine a world where they don't get together and I don't give a crap what Derrick J. Wyatt says, Devlin is Gwen's son. So there! Also, because of all the ret-con spam they kept doing with the series I've got, like, half a dozen different head-canons surrounding them.

What I Write:

I write two things:

1.) Cute little one-shots with goofy (sometimes happy) endings, or short character studies (that tend to be angsty).

2.) Long epic tales that will put your emotions through a rollercoaster before grinding to a halt and catapulting you off the emotional rollercoaster into a freaking meat-grinder. You will be left sitting in front of your computer sobbing from all the destruction I have wrote. (That is... if I ever finished any of my long epics. Usually they just peatier out into nothingness...)
