Prequel to Kanan The Cowboy. Caleb has always been running, for no good reason. He believes he's running because no one understands him, but then he's taken to foster mother Depa Billaba. Kanan the Cowboy
It's been two years since Kanan lost Depa, and he still isn't over his grieving. He alone and has no one to turn to for comfort. Then a mysterious plane crash kills a mother and injures her daughter, most of the passengers got out unscathed. Kanan finds himself attracted to the daughter and so he promises her that he'll solve the case to help her avenge her mothers death.

A year later Kanan finds himself married to the girl, Hera. She drags him into several other cases leading them into adopted Sabine and Zeb. They move to Lothal for more room, and Kanan soon finds himself wrapped up in another case. This one involving fowl play, a wild mountain lion, and a witty street rat known as the Apparition.

For the past year Kanan Jarrus has been trying to catch the witty and elusive Ghost Boy. Each time he's gotten close the kid always finds some way to get around him. But this time Kanan has a small piece of information that could be just what he needs to finally catch the kid. A small shack hidden deep within the woods where the kid might spend most of his time.

Meanwhile, Ezra has survived winter and he's feeling pretty good about himself, until he's on his way back to his shack and an Imperial trap catches him. He waits, laying in pain for the end to come. The Imperials who set the trap? Or Kanan?
