(Incoming rant on criticism)

To all other writers out there...

I think the fanfiction writing community is being plagued by a new disease. A very strange disease, but a disease nonetheless. And that is worshipping excessive praise and compliments, to the point where anything but is frequently met with rejection and demonisation. Since when has it the community become so creatively weak that they can't take criticism? To my childhood, I remember this: treat others as you would treat yourself. This doesn't apply to all aspects of life, but it certainly applies to reviews and criticism. Me ranting about lack of reviews is just one example. How many people read my mediocre story, had some negative things to say, but refused out of fear of hurting the writer's feelings? In doing this, you are doing the writer a terrible disservice. I will never know what the story lacked, therefore would have no real chance of fixing the problems. You'd think that all writers would at least welcome the opportunity to correct any mistakes they might have made; even if they don't agree with the problems. At least give them the opportunity.

I swear, the number of people that respond to my criticisms with a weak "if you didn't like it keep it to yourself" or simple "screw you" just show what kind of people many are. If you'll only accept positive comments on a piece of work, AT LEAST post a note at the beginning saying you don't want negative comments. What, you expect me to be psychic, to know exactly how you'll respond to criticism? Maybe you can post your age, but I believe that some younger writers are mature enough to handle criticism, while I've encountered people in their 40s who respond to it like crying babies.

One example was a story that had nearly a hundred reviews; all positive, saying how the story was amazing and the characters they loved and all that crap... but the story had so many simple grammatical errors, misuse of words, clunky narrative style and inconsistent use of past/present tense that really made it difficult to read. No one prior had said anything about this huge problem. When I pointed all this out, can you guess how they responded? ... yeah.

Real constructive behaviour there! If you don't care enough about your own writing to try and improve, why should anyone else?

(Sigh) End of rant. It's ironic that a site that's motto is "unleash your imagination" but the community has attached the motto "silence your objective reasoning and thoughts". No. Screw that.

I mostly enjoy reading fanfiction; due to the fact canon anime and manga cannot live up to all our expectations (sigh...).

Pokemon and Digimon were my childhood favourites, but know they seem quite empty without... more. Huh. That would require higher classification...

I hope to submit a few stories at least, since I've often fantasised about how the series should have went (Digimon Adventure season 2!) and how they could have been so much better. Well, I hope to at least record my thoughts.

My favourite animes are Naruto, Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, Pokemon and Digimon.

Other animation I also love includes Spongebob Squarepants, Avatar the Last Airbender, and My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, and Lilo & Stitch (including movies).

My favourite movies are Spirit Stallion of the Cimmarron, Lion King (and assorted Disney), Lord of the Rings and Star Wars Saga, and recently, Zootopia.

My favourite game franchises are Halo, Mass Effect, Heroes of Might and Magic, The Elder Scrolls, Legend of Spyro and most Bioware games.

My favourite books are the Inheritance Cycle/Eragon, Dragonkeeper series and Dragonlance. I HATE Harry Potter now, though i used to love it. Pointless murder of innocent animals for no reason other than to make it "darker" is going too far.
