Hi there! I'm an under-employed Canadian academic who spends way too much time with comics, action-adventure television, and fanfic when I should be reading literary theory. But a lot of my "professional" writing (in quotes because I don't always get paid for it) deals with representations of gender and sexuality in superhero comics and other action genres, so it's kinda all connected :)

I read stories in lots of different fandoms, and try to be a vigilant reviewer. Though I cut my teeth writing Star Trek fanfic, this account collects my most recent writing, which is about the X-Men comics universe and the TV show Burn Notice.

In general, as much as I love my various comics, TV shows, and movies, I too often find decent character moments (not to mention decent romantic relationships!) missing from them, and that's one of the big reasons I dig fanfic. It lets you go behind the scenes and between the panels to explain things, fix things, or just re-imagine things. Which is awesome, because pop culture should be about us: the fans.
