I am sorry to say the original author has left fanfiction. Also, if you wish to adopt any of this author's stories, they are up for I am very fed up with people comparing Twilight and Harry Potter, so I will list 5 reasons against each book, showing how
1.) Most of the characters in Harry Potter are either evil or good, spy for the good, or just so freaking scared of the evil they join them. That is not how real life is, it's not black and white. It is true that people read Harry Potter to escape from life, and how real life is, but at the same time teach the readers the lessons of the books, but one may think, it's not real, these lessons mean nothing. For example, Harry never wavers from his goal, never thinks to join Voldemort, and while has plenty of dark moments, remains a very strong beacon of light. And Voldemort, just being raised in an orphanage does not make one turn evil, especially that evil. One could argue, sure Voldemort turned evil after finding out that his mother COULD have lived if she really wanted to, but remember, he was evil already when he was a kid, the cave, the stealing of items, the controlling animals to kill. I doubt that any of the kids from the orphanage turned out like him. 2.) It offends some religious people. There are plenty of my friends that do not like Harry Potter and believes that even though it is based in fantasy, it does not make the effects of magic becoming a desirable thing. Just because most believe, it's not real, I can't actually do that, doesn't mean everyone doesn't. There are some who take the books too seriously and try to practice real life 'magic', depending if you believe magic does exist in this world. If one does believe it, how does one not think, 'Hey, they are using magic for good, I will too', falling into temptation and soon are destroyed by the practices of 'black magic'. I do no want to seem ignorant, or stupid for believing in this, when I actually don't. However, it is a perfectly valid point, because there are plenty of people who will refuse to read the book, or allow their kids to after reading it themselves. 3.) All the ways the trio gets out of trouble just so happens to be able to happen by magic! Of course, it's a simple device that takes some planning, but I don't think there are any instances I remember they get out of a situation using anything without magic (besides the chapter that Hermione figures out Snape's potions in the first book). Even when it ends, it ends magically because it just so happened a wand wouldn't kill it's own master (when in fact Voldemort's wand 'killed' him when trying to kill Harry as a baby, argued against he wasn't really killed, but he would have if he hadn't had Horcruxes, so it just so happened this was completely different?). Also, Harry SHOULD have died. Big deal Voldemort killed him, destroying his own Horcrux! Nagini had to die to destroy the Horcrux, but it just so happened Harry shouldn't have died, seems a little bit coincidental, doesn't it? 4.) HARRY DOESN'T KILL VOLDEMORT! That is probably the thing I was most upset about. Rowling goes and lets Harry go without killing anyone, never EVER using the killing curse, even when it could mean Voldemort winning over him. In the end he still aims to disarm Voldemort in the final clash. WHAT THE HECK?!? That was not right. Harry is no expert in wands, nor did he get the information from Ollivander about the Elder Wand being his possession. How was he so confident the Elder Wand wouldn't kill him (which I briefly pointed out the last point as well). Rowling is all about death in her books, not being the only main point, but accepting death, something Voldemort doesn't want to do, is a large part, right? Why can't Harry accept that Voldemort's death must be accepted and that he should not take any chances? After all he has been through, I really was wishing that he would be the one to do it, or die in the process and hand the responsibility over to Neville (who is so freaking epic). 5.) Voldemort was such a cool enemy! Until he became such an idiot! Seriously, in the start of the series he was such a brilliant character. He evaded death, he opened the chamber, he planned ways to come back that would've worked if Harry didn't interfere, but when he was resurrected and afterwards, he became such a stupid person, no offense to ol' Voldy. Why did he need the prophecy again? Who would have guessed that there would be a secret to killing Harry in it? NO ONE! Well, apparently the brilliant mastermind did, and wanted to get it no matter the cost. Then he made mistake after mistake after mistake! His only mistake in the beginning was underestimating Harry, but you would think he would learn not to underestimate him. He had Ollivander in his care, not very good care, but care, and he didn't think to ask him about wand ownership? Voldemort was very dumb, to say the least, after his resurrection. I really hated this. Anti-Twilight 1.) First of all, Bella is not the average girl. If you think you are like Bella, then you really are messed up. I don't want to bash on her character, because all in all, she's not that bad, just not an everyday girl. Meyers must have some messed up perception of us teen girls. We are not unemotional, we would not act naturally if we found out a guy was a vampire. Most girls would either go fan-girl over him, or run away scared to death, or just think they were dreaming. As a teenager, I can relate to Bella on some levels, but most of the time I wonder how in the world anyone could be like this. WHO THE HELL IS SO SHALLOW THEY JUMP OFF A CLIFF FOR BECAUSE GUY DUMPED HER? No one reading this, I hope. No matter how much you love someone, her love for Edward is just so unrealistic. I will never love someone so much I would end my life if I couldn't be with them. Maybe it's just me, I really hope not. I just really hate this. 2.) No epic climax? No finishing battle? So the book ends with the worst ending ever! I was expecting a battle like in Harry Potter where Bella and Edward thwart those threatening them, but no. Major anti-climax when the Volturi basically just realize they were told the wrong information, and go away. What self-respecting author builds up like this with no good ending to it. It felt like such a let down. The building up with the stories about the newborn vampires, and all of that, down the drain. Worst ending I've read at least. No offense to Twilight lovers, because it isn't that bad, overall, and getting to the point, but the book was an ACTION romance. Action, meaning fighting, things going on, not half of the characters sitting around waiting to get caught by the Volturi in the last book. Nope, nope, not happy at all. The last three books really declined each. The first one was full of action and being hunted, and all this cool stuff, but then it went to a lot more into the boy drama that I HATE! It really made my interest decline, but the impression from the first book left me wondering if there would be interesting coming later on after the boy drama, but no. Nothing. Build up into nothing interesting. 3.) Just as Bella is getting into a good semi-healthy relationship with Jacob, she then gets back with Edward, who dumped her. I do not respect a girl who will dump a guy she likes for a guy who dumped her, no matter how much she loves the guy she got back with. And to top it all off, Jacob imprints on Edward and Bella's child. WHAT THE HECK?!? That is called pedophilia, don't care if you don't age, that is wrong. Think of the stories they'll tell. 'Oh yeah, I was dating your mom at one point, but now I love you!' If that doesn't scream stupid, then I cannot help you out. I am so very sorry. The whole 'I will love you forever' thing does not happen in an average girl's life at 17. Because we all know that we don't make idiotic choices at 17 (I am now 17 as of December 2nd, 2012), and we know who we love and will forever love at 17 and so fast. If that was true maybe we wouldn't have so many divorces today. 4.) I don't think this one really could be disputed: Twilight got the raw end of the deal in the movies. The actors and actresses were not good (I like those who portrayed them, but I hate the way they did it), they didn't understand their characters. Bella was portrayed as an emotionless mostly boy-crazy teen, who doesn't give a flip about anything. Seen that scene where her dad's office is attacked? Didn't seem worried at all. Edward was a big idiot, and Robert Pattison did not understand the depth of Edward (while I will admit, I don't like his character nor appreciate his depth, maybe I just add his depth in my head, I dunno), nor give him the caring, elegant, and deeply worrying side of him towards Bella. He gave off the same vibe as Kristen Stewart did. Unemotional, idiotic, Bella-crazy, uncaring guy who just was looking after his own safety after Bella found his secret. If I hadn't read the books I would have thought that he was only dating her to keep her quiet about his secret. 5.) Twilight is not for all ages, nor does it really appeal to older adults. It is basically a book for teenaged girls, who want to believe such love will find them so early. Sometimes it does, but, sorry to burst your bubble girls, normally it doesn't. I've seen countless of couples break up, never dating myself (though I know what a relationship feels like, but maybe my understanding of the book and major arguments against it stem from this fact), and in the relationship they thought they would be together forever. Almost every adult who has dated, with exceptions of a lucky few, knows this, and sees the cheesy and corny aspects of Bella and Edward's relationship. Maybe such a relationship gives a girl hope, but personally it makes me feel even worse, because I know that such a relationship has turned some of the girls that used to be my friends into desperate girls who will do anything for a relationship. Guess what? I know several teen moms. And they are only my past friends because of them not communicating with me, I didn't like the path they were on, but I was still their friend until they chose to end our friendship. I am very sorry, I got off on something other than my point. Anyways, Twilight is a primarily teen girl book, while Harry Potter isn't exactly for children, while I did read them as a child, and appeals to adults, of both genders.
