![]() Author has written 10 stories for Stargate: Atlantis, Doctor Who, Stargate: SG-1, and Andromeda. I like: Books- Good Omens, Mary Stewart Merlin Trilogy, Star Trek Novels Relaunch, Star Wars Legends, Tolkien Legendarum (History of Middle Earth, Silmarilion, Children of Hurin, the Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings) TV- Andromeda, Angel, Blackadder, Bones, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Code Lyoko, Designated Survivor, Doctor Who, Fringe, Marvel's Agents of SHIELD, Primeval, Stargate SG1, Stargate Atlantis, Sanctuary. Star Trek The Original series, Star Trek The Next Generation, Star Trek Deep Space Nine, Star Trek Voyager, Sarah Jane Adventures Film- Alien, Back to the Future, Merlin (Sam Neil Miniseries), Monty Python's The Holy Grail, Monty Python's The Meaning of Life, Mr Holmes, National Treasure, Pirates of the Caribbean, Star Trek 1-10, Stargate, Stargate The Ark of Truth, Stargate Continuum, Star Wars Trilogies, The Hobbit (Extended Edition), The Lord of the Rings (Extended Edition), The MCU, The Time machine, X-Men Films. Character Pairings I like Andromeda Harper/Rommie - Cute and utterly adorable, they fix each other and utterly belong. Dylan Hunt/Trance Gemini - In the latter seasons, ie 3,4,5 I found the connection between those two to have something far more interesting to it, in many ways she became just as much as an XO as Beka given her place as adviser. Battlestar Galactica Admiral William Adama/Madame President Laura Roslin - The two leaders of the last of humanity, bearing all the responsibilities on their shoulders. Chief Galen Tyrol/Sharon “Boomer” Valerii - They had a relationship from the beginning and seemed to click. Buffyverse Angel/Cordelia - Best of friends who fall in love, she gave up ever having a normal life to stay by his side, something Buffy would never do. He can be happy around her, he laughs and smiles and jokes around and acts like himself, if only TPTB hadn't screwed up. Angel(us)/Drusilla - She was the first female Angelus chose and was his obsession, whereas Darla and him often parted he kept her as his own, even Angel seemed to value his connection to her. Angel/Faith - Angel/Willow Anya/Xander Buffy/Spike Fred/Spike - Strange, but she was able to accept him and saw the good man underneath, and he gave up his chance to be corporeal to save her. Fred/Wesley - The two of them had their massive intellects to each over and connected on a really intimate level. Spike/Willow - Tara/Willow Code Lyoko Jérémie Belpois/Aelita Stones (Schaeffer) Ulric Stern/Yumi Ishiyama Designated Survivor Alex Kirkman/Tom Kirkman Emily Rhodes/Aaron Shore Hannah Wells/Chuck Russink Doctor Who Romanadvoratrelundar II/Narvin - Somehow they just snuck up on each other after the first three seasons Gallifrey to the point where I could see them together as by the fifth Season of Gallifrey he was the only person she could trust. The Doctor/Patience (Cold Fusion) - She also appears in the Eight Doctor story Infinity Doctors and as the Doctor's original wife she is just as frustratingly mysterious as the Doctor himself, apparently being originally Omega's widow and having been born of the House of Blyledge she and the Doctor had thirteen children and she bears the distinction of being Susan's Grandmother. After she died Omega later offered the Doctor a chance to be with her as long as he promised not to stop him, the Doctor even agreed to this until she convinced him to stop Omega. Eighth Doctor/Scarlette (The Adventuress of Henrietta Street) - When reading the interesting book, as calling it a novel seems indigenous but the way she is presented as more of a cipher and counterpart to the Doctor, her Elemental Champion. (Any) Doctor/Clara - Although I prefer 12/Clara to 11/Clara (Any) Doctor/(Any) Romanadvoratrelundar - Yeah a lot of this comes from the obvious chemistry between Tom Baker and Lalla Ward, but further authors and pairings have all built on it, from Seven and Romana's mind meld in Blood Harvest, her joy and confusion towards Sixes face. They way she while dying dropped everything to track down the Doctor's TARDIS in the vortex in response Five's telepathic call. Fifth Doctor/Nyssa of Traken Eight Doctor/Charley Pollard Eleventh Doctor/Amy Pond Fringe Agent Olivia Dunham/Peter Bishop Fauxlivia/Peter Bishop Nina Sharp/Walter Bishop Good Omens Aziriphale/Crowley Halo Cortana/Master Chief (John-117) Marvel Cinematic Universe Tony Stark/Pepper Potts Steve Rogers/Natasha Romanoff - Yeah from the Winter Soldier obviously, first time I actually saw a Cap solo film and the first time Scarlett Johansen really got more than a generic outline for her character, the two have so much chemistry I was convinced the characters would be getting together. I love how they grow as equals other the films, learning from each other as Natasha becomes more open and honest and she makes Steve more cynical and circumspect, I also love the 'Mum and Dad' vibe you get from them during their command of the Avengers. Personally I think that after TWS they where going to become a couple but Age of Ultron's weird thing with Banner forced them to change plans. Wanda Maximoff/Vision Peter Quill/Gamora Bruce Banner/Betty Ross Clint Barton/Laura Barton Phil Coulson/Daisy Johnson (Skye) Sanctuary Dr Helen Magnus/Dr Nikola Tesla Stargate Laura Cadman/Rodney McKay Col. Carter/Dr Daniel Jackson Ganos Lal (Morgan le Fay)/Dr Daniel Jackson Col. Carter/Dr Rodney McKay Adria/Dr Daniel Jackson Star Trek James T Kirk/Lori Ciana Picard/Crusher Riker/Troi Paris/Torres Paris/Kes Kira/Odo Jadzia/Worf Trip/T’pol Seven of Nine/Harry Kim Star Wars Han Solo/Leia Organa Mara Jade-Skywalker/Luke Skywalker - Sort of similar to my view of Cap and Black Widow, they add to each other in ways that improves them and they even in novel form have so much chemistry, I also love how they grow together over tim. Anakin Solo/Tahiri Veila Obi-Wan Kenobi/Siri Tachi - What happens when two true Jedi realize they have feelings for each other? Do they give in, do they deny their feelings, no they acknowledge that they have these feelings but refuse to go further, they love but don't form an attachment, learn to let go of that which you fear to loose. Jacen Solo/Tenel Ka Djo Jaina Solo/Kyp Durron Torchwood Capt. Jack Harkness/Ianto Jones Capt. Jack Harkness/Capt. Jack Harkness Dr Owen Harper/Toshika Sato Capt. Jack Harkness/Capt. John Hart X-Men Films (FOX) Wolverine/Mariko Yashida Character Pairings I don't like Andromeda Dylan Hunt/Rommie Seamus Harper/Trance Gemini Battlestar Galactica Galen Tyrol/Cally Henderson Buffyverse Angel/Buffy Wesley/Lilah Willow/Kennedy Doctor Who The Doctor (Any)/River Song The Doctor/Rose Tyler Marvel Cinematic Universe Bruce Banner/Natasha Romanoff Steve Rogers/Sharon Carter Sanctuary Helen Magnus/Montague John Druitt Stargate Jack O'Neil/Sam Carter Daniel Jackson/Vala Mal Doran Star Wars Jaina Solo/Jagged Fel Favorite Characters Angel Angel Cordelia Wesley Wynden-Price Illyria Lilah Morgan Winifred Burkle Battlestar Galactica 2003 Admiral Adama Chief Galen Tyrol Dr Giaus Baltar John Cavil Lieutenant Hoshi Romo Lampkin Sharon “Boomer” Valerii Buffy Willow Rosenberg Tara Maclay Spike Anya Jenkins Rupert Giles Faith Lehane Doctor Who Braxiatel Captain Jack Harkness Charley Pollard Dorthy ‘Ace’ McShane Fenric/Hastur Leela Narvin Romanadvoratrelundar Sally Morgan Thomas Hector ‘Hex’ Schofield Vansell Wynter 7th Doctor 8th Doctor 10th Doctor 11th Doctor 12th Doctor Fringe Agent Olivia Dunham Peter Bishop Walter Bishop Fauxlivia Nina Sharp William Bell September MCU Steve Rogers/Captain America Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow Clint Barton/Hawkeye Tony Stark/Iron Man Dr Stephen Strange Wong Peter Parker/Spider Man Thor Loki Secretary Alexander Pearce Valkyrie Nick Fury Agent Coulsen Sanctuary Henry Foss Jimmy Dr Helen Magnus Dr Nikola Tesla Dr William Zimmerman Sarah Jane Adventures Luke Mr Smith Sarah Jane The Trickster Stargate Adria Anubis Col. In general the way the series treats Boomer after her death, ie despite murdering a POW Cally is only given a slap on the wrist for 'unauthorized firearm discharge' when she should have been air locked and then what happens in season 3 and 4 where she literally becomes a puppet for Cavil. Buffy The way everyone in series seems to think Buffy's so awesome when I really don't like her as a person don't think she'd be worth anything as a Slayer without the help of so many people like Angel, Willow, Spike, Giles, Cordelia and Xander and she treats consistently like shit. The really annoying way they try to retcon Willow's sexuality in Season 5 onwards where they try to ignore her attractions to male characters rather than simply making her a bisexual character. Doctor Who The way the New Series ignores established continuity, ie the weird barn in Day of the Doctor that was never mentioned and no Mount Lung as described in the Time Monster and shown in Lungbarrow The War Doctor, despite John Hurt's performance the whole idea was stupid and the Doctor who fought in the Time War should have been Eight, the Night of the Doctor is a straight forward character assassination that undoes all of Eight's character development through basically all of the media following him. Harry Potter/Fantastic Beasts Harry Potter is a complete moron who seems to completely lack a brain, you'd think that someone who is constantly under threat would put effort into learning how to defend himself, ie learning spells and other means, instead he lazes through classes as an average student who seems more interested in Quiditch. This is even more annoying as Harry is supposed to be 'The Dark Lord's Equal' yet he's so inferior that Rowling literally had to retcon wand lore to even allow the heroes to win when book seven happens. The way Fantastic Beasts tries to retcon Dumbledore as an active participant in the war against Grindelwald when he shouldn't be active and feels just like Rowling noticed just how shady as fuck Dumbledore was in the original books and wrote it deliberate to make it clear that he's a good guy. The way everyone meets their life partners at Hogwarts is particularly ridiculous, they shouldn't have ended up with their final couples inside the seven books. First loves are just that; First Loves, you don't know who you really are, no do you really know how to be in a relationship, they don't last but you learn something from them. Stargate The clear difference between SG1 and Atlantis where SG1 says all Ancients had their superpowers, ie. healing powers, telepathy, telekinesis, energy manipulation and weather manipulations and could basically pass off as wizards as Moros/Merlin did and Atlantis where they're just people who mad a lot of mistakes and had no superpowers. Stargate Atlantis should have spent way way more time focusing on the Ancients and Atlantis than it did, for instance Season 1 had eight episodes out of 19 about the Ancients directly or indirectly which is an okay balance but should have increased, as Season 2 then has 4 out of 20, Season 3 not only has only 3 such stories they also completely squander the plotline of some of the Ancients returning for the completely gratuitous and unnecessary Die Hard in Atlantis episode. The out of the forty remaining episodes in Seasons 4 and 5 they have only 2 or 3, in a series that's supposed to be about Atlantis and the Ancients... Just SGU's general writing and feel as a completely cynical attempt to take the themes of BSG without understanding why that worked. Star Trek The fact that James T Kirk in the Original Series is allowed anywhere near the command chair given his appalling sexism and the fact that so many crew members dies under his command in what's supposed to be peacetime. Just that fact the the studio so completely interfered in the making of Voyager that crippled the shows effectiveness. Terminator The fact that no one seems to realize that treating machines like second class citizen and slaves is wrong and that they need to work together rather than trying to arbitrarily annihilate one another. Headcanons Battlestar Galactica As shown in 'The Plan' Boomer essentially has two personalities, the original Cylon Eight and the Sharon Valerii who served on Galactica when she's murdered by Cally the person who's downloaded in the Resurrection ship is the sleeper personality who has come to associate with her alter hence her strange behavior from Season 2 onwards. ie the fact that she doesn't actively sabotage the Cylon occupation forces, or the fact she seems to support the occupation of New Caprica and her place as Cavil's stooge. Doctor Who The Eighth Doctor orchestrated his 'death' in the Night of the Doctor as he knew if he entered the Time War there was a possibility he'd become the Dark Emperor of the Universe he saw in Father Time or he'd become the mad tyrant Grandfather Paradox as seen in the Ancestor Cell or his potential as Zagreus. Seriously that guy could have turned evil a lot of times. Regeneration is not a simple biological process, it's also a temporal one as reality is warped around a Time Lords new incarnation, this serves to form a natural block over temporal attacks. For instance most of the temporal instabilities during the Doctor's Eighth incarnation where stopped from reaching his past incarnations by his regeneration. The Time Lords are Eldritch Abominations that exist in several more dimensions than we can perceive and can influence events around them causing the coincidences and luck that seems to follow the Doctor around. It's why almost everything seems to go his way as the Doctor carefully influences the probabilities to his advantage, but he's not perfect; almost every waking moment is spent deciding who lives and who dies which is one of the reasons many renegade Time Lords go mad or return to Gallifrey to Champion non-interference. Time Lords/Gallifreyans are borne through the Looms as described in the Lungbarrow and Time's Crucible, but as suggested by Infinity Doctors and Cold Fusion this was actually due to Rassilon's purges, later propaganda attributed this to Pythia. Over the millions of years many Time Lords reproduced normally, always behind closed doors. The original Grandfather Paradox, the mad Voodoo Priest of House Lungbarrow was a contemporary of Quences and is the reason Lungbarrow fell in regard to the other Prydon Chapterhouses. Braxiatel was a member of Lungbarrow but was voluntarily removed from the roster so as to be apolitical as Gallifrey's offworld ambassador. The Time Lord Ulysses married and had a child with Penelope Gate, when discovered they spliced the child into the Loom of House Lungbarrow, here the biodata merged with that of the Other, Gallifrey's third founder, the result was the Doctor. Right from the very beginning he was both a full Time Lord and a half human hybrid. He seemed to exist in a rouge state where he had multiple conflicting timelines making up his past, all equally valid and true. In some incarnations one or another timeline was more prevalent. This means the Doctor could very likely be the Hybrid of prophecy and he is also the Other at the same time. As suggested by the Unnatural History, the plot of the Eighth Doctors was Rassilon's ploy to try to erase Romana's Presidency, it only half worked, whilst things like Leela's pregnancy disappeared the meaning of the child was enough to throw open the doors and for Gallifreyans to break the limits on Cousins and embrace natural parenthood. MCU Thanos destroyed the stones in Avengers Endgame as the temptation for him to try to undo what he had done was too great, as he said it cost him everything. Had Natasha Romanoff had survived to the end of Endgame Rogers would have stayed in the present. Stargate The Wraith where created by a faction of ascended Ori, the same faction who released the plague that hit them in the Milky Way, that's why its impossible to genetically alter the Wraith - they're created with ascended knowledge. This also explains how they they able to develop technologically to the point the point they could fight with the Ancients despite the Ancients more than fifty million years to advance there technology. The Furlings like the Asgard reside in a nearby Galaxy and not the Milky Way explaining why they haven't shown up. Daniel Jackson and the Odyssey were on assignment for the periods of Season 4 and 5 of Atlantis in the Ori home Galaxy helping them rebuild a Civilization with the sudden removal of their religion which had been the only thing holding them together. This is where the Odyssey was during Enemy at the Gate. The Ancients used Supergates in the Pegasus Galaxy explaining why they had slow hyperdrives. The Wraith also used 'Superhives' boosted by ZPMs during their war with the Ancients but by the final days of the First Siege they only had their traditional ships left. Had either Daniel Jackson with Merlin's enhancements or McKay after using the DNA Resequencer had used a Repository of Knowledge in the traditional setting they would have been able to survive and use the full extent of the knowledge as they'd been genetically enhanced to become close to the Ancients final form. Janus is still out there in the 'present' era of stargate but unable to intervene in 'current' affairs due to the knowledge he gained from travelling in time, however he may be responsible for 'luck' that seemed to aid them other the events of the series. Daniel Jackson may still contain suppressed elements of Merlin/Moros' memories just like his own missing memories from his ascension. Star Trek The Borg Queen functions as the Collective's CPU, processing data before it reaches the Collective and thus she is the one who Quarantines contaminated Cubes like in the Best of Both Worlds, Descent and the Collective. She isn't a leader, just a processing point, this is why Admiral Janeway is able to infect almost the entire Collective in Endgame, she's alway connected to the entire collective. The Preservers and the Iconians are one and the same as the Progenitors from the Chase, and may or may not have been as powerful as the Caeliar. As proposed in the 'Shanterverse' they were involved in a conflict with the Dark Matter creatures known as the Totality with the Galactic Barrier created to protect the Galaxy and their newly created descendants. After absorbing the Borg Collective the Caeliar left the Milky Way hoping to join with their counterparts in the distant galaxy. Star Wars Darth Sidious/Palpatine is the 'Wars version of the antichrist, a being borne of the darkside after being stoked by the rule of two Sith for a thousand years and he was able to channel and use some abilities instinctively as he used his wealth to collect Sith artifacts before he met his Sith master Darth Plageuis. In fact Palpatine arranged Darth Tenebrous' death that lead to to Naboo in the first place to ultimately recruit Palpatine, essentially Palpatine used his foresight to arrange his own apprenticeship under Plageuis. Without the Sith the Republic would not have fallen into a Civil War but it would have slowly broken apart into smaller states better suited to serving the local populace. Dooku was a good man who on some level had his doubts about Palpatine and if Kenobi had appealed to him with Qui Gon's memory in Attack of the Clones he might have been able to convince the Older former Jedi Master to come home to the Jedi Temple as Yoda almost managed in Yoda : Dark Rendezvous. If Palpatine had not recruited Dooku the Serenno noble would have become a fringe politician analogous to real world green parties campaigning against corruption and luke hippies of a bygone age would have complained that the systems where the problem, not just the people. When the prophecy talks about bring balance to the Force Obi Wan is correct that it means destroying the Sith as Sith ideology is all about trying to control the Force, using your own emotions to try to subvert the will of the Force. In contrast the Jedi don't unbalance the Force as their whole ideology is all about letting go of the self and following the will of the Force. In Fate of the Jedi if Luke had fought against Natasi Daala he'd have won and would have prevented most of the overly fascist and despotic measures she took in her mad quest for power, however if he had done so he wouldn't have found the Lost Tribe of the Sith or preempted Abeloth. Post Fate of the Jedi Jagged Fel never became an Emperor, the Remnant remained a democracy for his lifetime, the Imperial Knights where originally simply another branch of the Jedi Order, it was only later that they broke away and became a separate order, possibly later when a despotic descendant of Jagged Fel and Jaina Solo Fel became Emperor he or she rewrote history to retroactively make the Fel dynasty seem far less recent than it actually was. Grand Master Luke Skywalker ultimately fell in a final battle against Abeloth after ensuring Allana Solo's training. Kyp Durron became Luke's successor as Grand Master and moved the Order to Ossus, likely at the same time the Imperial Knights where still just a branch of the Jedi Order, moving the headquarters of the Order was to show that they where a apolitical Order. He eventually handed to Order to Ben Skywalker. Allana Solo eventually faced Darth Krayt in battle where he tried to wrest control of the Throne of Balance from her, however he failed, Allana eventually became Grand Master in her own right after passing the Hapan crown to her heir and trained Kol Skywalker, when Allana finally passed she still retained the right to claim the Throne of Balance but refused to knowing that as a true Jedi she served the Force and could not bend the Force to her will. On the subject of the Throne of Balance Palpatine intended to reach the Throne where he essentially would have taken control of the Force itself, to put it simply he would have been able to make himself a God if he succeeded. Anakin, Luke, Allana Solo and Ben Skywalker were the only people who could have realistically taken the Throne although Palpatine is pretty much the one not of Skywalker blood who stood a chance of succeeding. Missed Opportunities Sometimes when you watch a film/series you feel that the writers/producers missed a trick that should have been obvious and is a massive missed opportunity. Andromeda The whole situation with the Collectors could have occurred earlier in the timeline and the Commonwealth Civil War should have been a more major event. Battlestar Galactica Essentially dropping the bus on Boomer and not having her and Tyrol meet again and rekindle what they had before Boomer's character was pretty much destroyed. Not encountering a version of the Eastern Alliance when they found 'Earth'. Buffy Not including the scene where Angel tells Buffy he's in love with Cordelia always annoys me as it would have been a great moment for Buffy to finally move on going with the themes of growing up the fact that she still has unresolved issues with the first love even after it's been proved they just don't work really annoys me. Doctor Who After Hell Bent there should have been a season or two set on Gallifrey to show them readapting to post war life. MCU Not advancing and using the obvious chemistry between Black Widow and Captain America in Age of Ultron to start a romantic relationship between them instead of the weird and totally out of know where 'romance' with Banner and I will forever be annoyed that Joss Whedon's stupid sterilization story robbed us of an MCU version of James Rogers, AKA Steve Rogers and Natasha Romanoff's son. Stargate Not one of the main characters maintains 'superpowers' after whatever turns them into Ancients, wouldn't it make sense to modify say Daniel Jackson so he could fight Adria using Anubis' DNA Resequencer that they control? In Atlantis they never capitalized on the Asuran rebels in a meaningful way, ie eventual allies in the larger fight and a possible fifth column. Despite clearly setting something up Janus was never used after Season 1 despite being set up as someone who probably wouldn't be able to keep to the non interference laws and carved the observations of the future on Maybourne's planet as little as two hundred years ago. When a ship full of Ancients shows up in Atlantis season three they're only used a plot device to get the team out of the City, come on these are the Ancients, the whole purpose of the show is as shown in Before I Sleep is to meet these people! Not one of them seems concerned by the Ori, or did we just not tell them what was going on in the Milky Way. Star Trek Voyager's Year of Hell is rather obvious. Star Wars The way the NJO writers and beyond sort of let Kyp Durron fade into the background despite him basically being the Mace Windu or Dooku of his era, ie the most powerful member of the New Order beside the Solos and the Skywalkers he feels like he should be given way more attention than he really does. Not necessarily the same as the above but the fact that the book that would have followed Jedi Grand Master Nomi Sunrider into the events of the Mandalorian Wars of KOTOR was cancelled is endlessly irksome. Stargate Atlantis Season 4 AU This is basically how I thought Season 4 could have gone focusing more on the Ancients and utilizing the Asurans as a Civilization as presented in Progeny and treating the 304s and Auroras more realistically based on previous appearances. Episode 11 - Retaliation: Soon after This Mortal Coil, the team begin to fight against the Asurans Episode 12 - Prisoners of War: Concurrent to Retaliation focuses on the duplicate team and the growing Asuran rebels Episode 13 - Quarantine: The City enters quarantine, McKay works with the Travelers to fight back against the Asurans. Episode 14 - Aggressive Countermeasures: The Asuran Civil War begins, Ikaros appears. Episode 15 - Reliquary: SG1 Crossover, exploration of the Asura Project and the Ancients behind it Doctor Who Day of the Doctor AU Okay, I'll be honest about this it was just as much a knee jerk reaction to Day of the Doctor as it seems and looking back I'm not too pleased with how ridiculous it is and I'm not too happy with it. The Fall of Dronid A fan novel I partially wrote in the style of the EDAs covering the start of the Last Great Time War assuming it is the same conflict as the War in Heaven alluded to in the novels, I disregard the character assassination that Eight didn't fight in the War and provide an explanation for why he would spout such nonsense. I had planned out the next few chapters but I ran into my exams and have yet to be able to continue the project. Standoff A muse more than anything that the Spirit of the Abyss was inside the Route of Ages and could affect multiple universes and this seemed to be an interesting way to go. I hadn't really planned much past the Moros conversation as the Wraith are a far different beast to tackle in the environment. |
