A few days have passed after the events of Season 3. Hopper is still missing, Will has still moved away, and everything hasn't gone back to normal in the small town of Hawkins, Indiana. However, their journey still isn't over.

Han spends a long winter night trying to keep an injured Luke alive, alone with his thoughts, his feelings, and his memories and begins to make some discoveries about himself. "It was true that Hopper had always been there for El when she had nightmares. But on those nights, when she woke up crying or screaming, her chest always ached for someone more.
