I've never liked the evil step-mother thing for the demi-gods mothers. I don't think Ariadne would be a terrible step mom to Castor and Pollux, I see it more of she loves them even though they are demi-gods. So this is after Castor's death, and what she does to help out.

In Olympus, life for the gods/goddesses is not that exciting. Intense drama, hilarious comedy, unshapely romance, and basic boredom is what shapes their lives.
