So sad, and the story works well... You've managed to follow the story line of the series and then shift it, in the one episode that coincides with your concept. Characterizations of Sam, Dean and John ring true, both for the fantasies in Sam's head and the delusional reality he's living. The words at the end - "Sam's heart swells with joy" - and the image of Sam with a knife, running free, under the influence of his illness, completes the sense of horror you've been building from the beginning.

This was an interesting glance into a ever so slightly different pilot. I liked Sam's voice at the beginning, though it grew more distant as his issues arose. You wrote the brothers very well, and most of their discussions were spot on. I also enjoyed the gratuitous Avengers reference somewhere buried towards the end.

There were a few issues with disjointed transitions or dialogue, but I think they fit the story and Sam's mental state. I think this was a very good piece and hope to see you write more in the future!

The concept for the story was interesting and the development was structured to allow doubt to build gradually for the reader, but the scenes would have had more impact had they relied less on the narrative voice telling the reader what was happening as it progressed, and more on showing the character's perception through the character's viewpoint-specifically, allowing the reader to glimpse each delusional reality as a warping of what they "know" from canon-to heighten uncertainty and tension and to control pace. Interweaving those not-quite-right scenes with what-happens-in-between scenes of Sam's thoughts could have delivered the desire result more powerfully.

That was a rather weird trip through Sam Winchester's mind. So sad. Dean is just a dream but Sam seems to be happiest with a dream brother by his side. I'd say let him go but he seems to be dangerous to others. I doubt he'll last long out on the road.

This story is absolutely amazing. I love how everything seemed relatively normal until John showed up, but when the plot twist was revealed all the little details made more sense. It was such a darkly entertaining story, and it was sad that in this case Sam and Dean driving off together was not a good thing. I loved reading this story.
