Author has written 34 stories for NCIS. I guess it's time I write a profile. This is my writing philosophy: I never post a Work-In-Progress. I tend to write in bursts, I'll go weeks, maybe months, unable to write anything and then bam I get hit by inspiration and will end up pounding out a story. When I write longer stories I sometimes find the direction of the story going somewhere completely unexpected. When that happens, I have to go back and do some tweaking to make the earlier parts make sense. This is my main reason for not posting as I write, so when you're reading a story I've written, don't ask me to do something, or not do something, because it's already been done... or not. My other reason for not posting WIP's is my intense dislike of stories that drag on and on, making me lose interest. The longer the wait between chapters, the less interested I become. And if the author is writing a great story, but ends a chapter with "What should I do next?" they've lost me completely. I write to entertain myself and others and I read other stories to be entertained. Don't ask me to write it for you, I want to know what you think, how you would imagine a situation unfolding. I do follow some WIPs. When I see a summary that interests me I'll read the first chapter. If it seems well written and promising, I'll put that story on Story Alert. I write strictly in the NCIS fandom. I've dabbled in others, but NCIS is where my creative juices tend to flow. I write mostly case files, mostly gen stories. I tend to write hurt/comfort stories and the hurtee tends to be Tony. I don't know why that is, I absolutely adore the character, but it appears I'm not the only one who does that so maybe we all have a "Let's nurse Tony back to health" fetish. Two of my stories are very dark and very violent. I like to experiment. I wrote a violent story, involving rape and followed it up with a humorous story. As a matter of fact, I was writing them at the same time. I like to keep my readers guessing, which probably means I should stop hurting Tony, because I think that's what's expected of me now. Edited on 12/28/06 - I am in the middle of another dry spell. I have two stories started, but haven't done anything with them. I'm currently working on artwork for a zine of my stories that a friend is making for me. That's where my creative juices seem to be flowing at the moment. I'm new to Photoshop, so things are going slowly. Fans of my Hurt!Tony stories may be unhappy to hear that I don't feel inclined to write stories hurting him anymore. It's sort of a "been there, done that" situation for me. I do want to write more case stories, more Smart!Tony stories, so I've sort of moved on from hurt/comfort. That could change, of course. I hope the readers enjoy the stories, that I've given them interesting plots and interesting villians. I try to avoid the trap that others seem to be in (you know who I mean - we've discussed this before), where the villian exists only to torture Tony and/or Gibbs. I'm afraid I fell into that trap for at least two of my stories, though, Law and Disorder and You Can Teach an Old Dog New Tricks. But I'm only human. :) Edited on 3/1/07 - Okay, I guess I wasn't out of ways to put Tony in peril, and I've got another story in the works that does that - but it may never be finished. Edited on 5/4/07 - I haven't posted anything in a long time. I have 20 pages, 7,000+ words of my "Tony Lost At Sea" story, and I'm nowhere near finished with it. This has been going on for months (see earlier edit). I've been reading some stories, and am really disappointed in a lot that's out there so I may be getting frustrated and unable to write any more stories. I do come up with an occasional one-shot (The Last of Lasts), but haven't been inspired. I incorporated the latest development with Paula in the-story-that-refuses-to-be-written, rather than writing a one-shot of that. So, if you want to see more of me, maybe some cajoling will help. :) |
