![]() Author has written 1 story for Legend of Zelda. "The writer’s only responsibility is to his art. He will be com- pletely ruthless if he is a good one. He has a dream. It anguishes him so much he must get rid of it. He has no peace until then. Everything goes by the board: honor, pride, decency, security, hap- piness, all, to get the book written. If a writer has to rob his moth- er, he will not hesitate; the “Ode on a Grecian Urn” is worth any number of old ladies." -William Faulkner My mother would not be happy if she knew I'd posted this quote on my profile. :-) I don't even agree with it, but I think it's funny. Anyway, I'm Celeborn00. I write because I dream. I dream because I am alive. And I am alive because of the grace of God. My real name, my location and my face are not important because ultimately it is the story and not the writer that will be remembered. It will not be "Forgotten Demons" that survives, it may not be my next book or the one after that, but eventually I will write something which will embody a leaf upon Tolkien's "Tree of Story". The written word will outlast us all, so why not aim to leave my mark upon it? To add my story to the annals of history? Seems like a rather illustrious goal for someone writing third-rate Fanfiction doesn't it? :-) If you are reading this, it is because you have an appreciation, a desire, even an obsession with the fantastic. You have trailed your fingers into the river of myth and heard the whispers of legend amidst the stolid buildings and harsh realities of the concrete. You know the joy of escape, the feeling of holding a sword amidst fingers trained only to handle nail-cutters and butter knives, and the thrill of an adventure to save a world which only exists within printed pages. Consequently, you have the ability to reincarnate yourself again and again, in book after book. And some of you, a few of you, will even have decided you wish to write your own fantasy, and show the world the power of your imagination. I am genuinally thankful for all of you who have chosen to write. It is a hard thing to do, and takes an amount of work which few people have an appreciation for, but in the end it is equally satisfying. Humanity yearns to create, and within the written word lies a medium which allows a depth of communication which is impossible in the other art forms. You will be tested, you will be tried, but I trust you will arise from the crucible proven equal to the challenge. I hope the same thing for myself, Celeborn00 "Real writers are those who want to write, have to write, need to write." -Robert Penn Warren |
