Author has written 6 stories for Ouran High School Host Club. I never know what to write for these things, I think of myself as rather boring. My life basically consists of work, taking care of home and family, and immersing myself in games/books/manga/tv/movies/fanfiction to relax. I've always read fan fiction, but never had a story I wanted to tell enough to write it. I love Shoujo and one of my favorite hobbies was idly imagining perfect loves or romance plots for my favorite secondary characters. Then I met Kyoya and the rest of Ouran High School Host Club. The story I had for him just would not leave my brain. Next thing I knew, I had a fully fleshed out plot with five acts that would not leave my head unless I started writing it down. But, in the process of working it out I ran into a plot for Mori (which I started to write first because I thought it was going to be no more than three chapters - final version had something like 18, I guess I'm long-winded). Next Hikaru and Kaoru popped up their lovely heads and began giving me ideas as well. So, here I am posting my weird little daydreams on line for the world to see and hoping someone other than me likes it. Will most likely only be Ouran for the time being until those boys go back between the pages of the books where they belong. Status update since people are starting to ask - I am still around, but work and personal life got very busy until just recently and I had to drop writing for awhile because it was becoming more stressful than fun. Things have settled down somewhat and I hope to have the next chapter of Finding Home updated soon and will strive to get back to my usual biweekly cadence. Random Stuff: People I wish I could write like. Not all of them, but the folks in each genre that have me envious and the book(s) of theirs I like best. Romance - Joanna Bourne (Spymaster's Lady). Want to steal: The way her characters have unique inner voices without ever breaking third-person perspective. Science Fiction - Lois McMaster Bujold (A Civil Campaign for the light stuff, Mirror Dance for the heavy). Want to steal: Ability to seamlessly waltz through different genres without losing sight of her character's personalities and while keeping the plot, problems, and solutions thoroughly rooted in science Fantasy - Brian Sanderson (Mistborn, first Trilogy). Want to steal: ability to lay tiny clues that you still miss so when the narrative gets turned on its head you hit yourself, realizing all along you should have seen it. Humor - Terry Pratchett (Night Watch). Want to steal: Love the way he turns phrases and words back on themselves and manages to hit just the right blend between hilarity and pathos |
