My own take on what happened in Ireland before the show. However, I have added an additional twist which makes this story a definite AU. The M rating is mostly for violence, language, and suggestive themes (it is Burn Notice, after all), but there are a couple fairly explicit scenes. I'll call them out if you want to skip over that.

Some of the most interesting stuff never made it on the screen. Here's my take on what happened during some big chunks of off-screen time. The relevant episode number is in the chapter title. Each chapter stands alone; you can read them in any order.

AU Season Six. Michael and Fiona have reached new milestones in their life in the four months since they destroyed Anson Fullerton. When Michael returns to work at the CIA, a mission to rescue a kidnapped British journalist sets them on a course that neither of them expected to take towards family.

A series of lyrically enhanced vignettes covering the many missing moments as well as the events of Season Seven from just before 7.01 "New Deal" through 7.13 "Reckoning" in the hopes that setting Season Seven to music might make it less painful and hopefully present a more cohesive story than they were able to show on screen. What if the plan to capture Michael at the boathouse, in S7 Sea Change, had worked? Would Michael be able forgive their interference in his plans? Where would they go?

Their lives are in transition as they make the switch from covert operatives to parents. With the Christmas season looming, difficulties arise in trying to make the holiday memorable for Charlie.
