Author has written 8 stories for Silmarillion, and Lord of the Rings. Currently I am working on In Cavern's Shade, which is the first book of a saga I've been working on for several years. I plan for the entire series to cover the entirety of Celeborn and Galadriel's time in Middle Earth. In Cavern's Shade covers the first age until the sack of Doriath. I try to stay entirely faithful to canon by not changing dates or events. Whenever Tolkien has explicitly expressed an opinion about something I always remain faithful to that opinion. But Tolkien wrote in such a way that a lot of things are missing and, in this regard, one can remain faithful to canon and still have a remarkable amount of creative leeway in terms of determining how various events and situations evolved. I am really surprised at how developed some of the characters have gotten, almost as if they evolved on their own with very little assistance from me, and some characters have unexpectantly become quite dynamic. I am planning on finishing the last two chapters and epilogue of In Cavern's Shade by December 2015. The sequel to In Cavern's Shade will be called Canticle of the Haunted and will begin just after the sack of Doriath and carry through Harlindon up to S.A. 700. I hope to start publishing it in January or February of 2016. In addition to this series, I often write small one chapter short stories as character studies to help me develop the characters I include in my big story. I may also do some short 3 chapter fics as well. Just because I know how very loyal to certain characters that LOTR and Silmarillion fans can get, I would ask people to keep in mind when reading my stories that they are being told from a point of view that is not necessarily my own. I would ask you to question the opinions, decisions, and understandings of every character. Cavern's Shade, at least, is largely told from the Sindarin view and thus is not so favorable to the Noldor. It is up to you, the reader, to determine whether you think this is justified or not and to remember that the narrator of a story is not always a reliable or truthful source of information. That being said, I hope that you enjoy my writing and stories, and I am so very happy that you are taking the time to read it! As always, any comments or discussion that you would like to initiate are very, very welcome! I only ask that you keep in mind common rules of decency and politeness both to me and other reviewers. It is my hope that this story makes you question everything: relationships, loyalties, perspectives, prejudices, honesty, everything! |
