Frozen II comment:

I loved Frozen II. I thought it was in all ways a brilliant and worthy sequel to the first movie. It also turned the "Queen Elsa's Councilor" series into a bit of an AU. The second movie retconned Elsa's parents into good people. My series went with the conclusion that shutting your daughter in her room for her entire childhood and telling her to "conceal don't feel" is emotional abuse and bad parenting. I still think it's bad parenting.

But I did love Frozen II.

So I was sitting in the movie theater as the credits rolled on "Frozen" and thought, "that's not how it ended!" The movie made me cry, it was so beautiful, really just turned me inside out. But Elsa's ice skating party at the end seemed too quick. After a lifetime of isolation and trauma, one does not simply step back into real life with full control of everything that caused such havoc in the first place. I wrote this series to explore Elsa's healing process. She's going to make mistakes, she's going to get frustrated and scared, she's not going to know how to react in situations that other people can handle, there are huge gaps in her ability to relate to people. The people around her are going to have to be patient and treat her with respect as she works out how to interact with the real world again. I hope you enjoy watching Elsa learn how to overcome her past and embrace her future as much as I enjoyed writing it.

The other story I've written is "Prequel to Dragonflight." You know that scene in Dragonflight where F'lar jumps back in time to see his younger self the day after R'gul becomes Weyrleader? I wrote that story from the younger F'lar's experience. The story is canon, and consistent with Dragonflight. It is not at all consistent with the events in "The Masterharper of Pern."
