Reviews for The Unlikely Heroes of Arendelle
Andromeda chapter 33 . 11/13/2019
Okay I’m literally 5 years late to this series but I just found it and had to say something because it’s so good! I’ve spent the whole afternoon binge-reading everything through the end of this fic and I can’t wait to continue with the next one. I love the way you write the characters and each of their internal conflicts— there are so many specific examples that I can’t list them all right now (I might have to leave chapter-by-chapter comments when I reread because they all absolutely deserve to be pointed out). Your OCs are great and incredibly well-developed and compelling as well. Also, something particularly unique with your writing is how well you write Olaf and the troll children. Those aspects often get sidelined in favor of focusing on the main characters, but all your scenes with them are genuinely funny and delightful while still having the full weight of how much the characters mean to each other. Like the jokes comparing Kristoff to the cockroach and then Kristoff being relieved to be considered a son even if he doesn’t want to admit it. (Also the philosophy stuff with the trolls and Olaf was fantastic.) I don’t have time to write anymore right now because I’ve spent the whole day reading this series but it’s awesome, I can’t wait to read what’s next, and I’ll leave more comments then! Thank you so much for writing and sharing this!

Absolutely fantastic story. Loved your characterization and development in the relationships between Elsa, Anna, and Kristoff. Looking forward to reading more of your wonderful work!

I want to reply to Concolor44's comment about motivation for writing. But before I do, I want to commend them for the fantastic reviews they've posted on this story. You are an author's delight to have as a reader and I am jealous that Lindstrom has you and I don't. ;)

"You should write for yourself. Don't write for accolades. Don't write to please someone else."

That seems like sound advice, and I appreciate the positive, encouraging spirit in which it was given, but it misses the point of why writers write. Writing is a form of storytelling, but storytelling predates the written word. Would an ancient storyteller sit around a campfire telling stories to themselves? No, stories are told for the benefit of the listener, not the teller. The teller is benefited only by the reaction of the listener, and if it is positive there is a special magic that takes place between all involved. Without that magic there is little motivation for the author to expend the amount of time and energy required for the arduous and difficult process of writing such a complex story that is a novel.

For those who review consistently, you are most appreciated. For those who also give meaningful reviews, nothing can appropriately express the affect your words have upon us as authors. It is truly magical. :)

What a great story! I enjoyed every single chapter! :)
IndyGirl89 chapter 32 . 11/9/2014
Finally, Kristoff realizes what Anna means to him. :)

Yes, please write more! I'd love to read a story about Elsa and Bern. I sense a connection between them. :)

And thank you for recognizing me at the end. There are few stories that I've followed that were good enough to review every chapter. It was my greatest pleasure to review your story. :)

Huh. Never expected Elsa to play matchmaker. That's usually Anna's job. But I guess it worked. :)

In reply to your earlier comments about reviews, I have a few thoughts. Yes, reviews are nice to get. They can be helpful to the story itself. They can also make your day. (Unfortunately, they can also CRASH your day, if someone - a good example would be The Fox Familiar - decides to drop his troll dung on you.) And you bring up some good points. If someone has taken the time to read your story, a work that you have put a tremendous amount of effort and sweat and love into, it seems that the least she/he could do is give you SOME kind of idea of the reactions it brought on. That's reasonable, don't you think? But the sad facts of the matter are that most people DON'T review, and the ones that do don't usually say much. If you get ONE thoughtful review for every fifty hits a story gets, you are ahead of the game. I wish there were something I could do about that, but there isn't. All I can do is review myself, so I do.

Okay, I guess I said all that to get to this: You should write for yourself. Don't write for accolades. Don't write to please someone else. Write WHAT you want to write, HOW you wish to write it. If other people like it, so much the better. You've entertained them. If other people feel like disrespecting your work, ignore them. If they could produce something worthwhile themselves, they wouldn't have the time to harp on your stuff, would they? (Trolls are like that. Also, never feed the trolls.) And if your story gets read, but no reviews surface, just chalk it up to basic human laziness. That's what I do. For example, I have one story that got 1406 hits during October. It received exactly TEN reviews in that time. Another of my stories got 798 hits during the same time period ... and ZERO reviews. None. Nada. Is that crazy or what? I look upon reviewing as a responsibility. But I'm in the distinct minority there.

So fret not, and continue with your wordsmithing ... IF that is what you want to do. I will follow your work, and review regularly. I feel that it is my duty.

-

Elsa's delight at discovering this new facet to her powers is simply CONTAGIOUS! It makes me want to laugh in sheer glee.

Oh, my goodness! Anna is practically preening! Heh. And did she ever win over the ice harvesters.

Oh, wow. Just ... yeah. What Elsa did for Anna there. Yeah. Nailed it.

So good! This story is SO DAMN GOOD! You - and this story - get Favorited SO HARD!

Don't feel down in the dumps. I read your stories but don't review it. I think my last review was form somewhere chapter 14 or 15. Anyway I would love to see a sequel about Elsa and their relationship is going. New antagonist, threats and all that. So if you're planning to make it I'll definitely read it.
blunaowl chapter 32 . 11/8/2014
I would totally read an Elsa/Bern sequel. :D Bless Olaf reading for Kristoff!
Concolor44 chapter 32 . 11/8/2014
That "official report" of the battle was wonderful! A masterful and not-untrue restating of the facts in the matter.

LOVED the scene where the Hamarian noble insisted that Kristoff stay away from their lands. Heh. No, Lt. Markell was being 100% factual in his report. Heehee!

Gustav's reactions to all the fantastical goings-on were PRICELESS! I guffawed several times through that section.

The feels there at the end with Kristoff? Magical. He's GOT to be in a better frame of mind now!
Espenelle chapter 32 . 11/8/2014
Oh my god, you're right, I really haven't reviewed. I feel so bad, don't get discouraged! I absolutely love this story, and you should totally do the sequel! Don't stop here just cause people don't review, the story is great! Continue the series please, I wouldn't be able to stand seeing a series I love so much end yet! I love your story, you're very talented, remember that.

Till next time,

-Shelby
BlueLion chapter 32 . 11/8/2014
don't you dare to forego the sequel starring Elsa and Bern!
You're drawing this story very lengthy, you know - there really aren't that many unresolved aspects to go on and on - a conclusion is somewhat overdue!
Concolor44 chapter 31 . 11/6/2014
Oh, I LOVE the FLUFF! Fluffy Kristanna! Fluffy sister time! Thank you!
Concolor44 chapter 30 . 11/4/2014
Olaf is definitely a lot more sentient than some HUMANS.

The trolls are just fun! I'll bet you had a total hoot writing this chapter.
IndyGirl89 chapter 30 . 11/4/2014
Haha, the trolls are so funny! But what's even funnier is Kristoff's embarrassment when he's with them. :)
