Author has written 7 stories for Virtue's Last Reward, Zero Time Dilemma, 999: 9 Hours, 9 Persons, 9 Doors, and Dangan Ronpa Kibou no Gakuen to Zetsubou no Koukousei. I'm a big fan of long, interesting and intelligent fanfics, especially crossovers. Some fanfics just need to exist, and I need to read them! I'm attempting to add to their number, but only time and you can tell if I'm succeeding. I'm very much in favour of constructive criticism. If you're willing to put the effort to think about what I write, I'm willing to hear what you have to say. I'm a big fan of the Writer's Anonymous forum here: it's a great place to o-0-o Current Stories The Ultimatum of Haruhi Suzumiya Current Status: o-0-o Completed Stories Empty Virtue Link to Flow Diagram for Empty Virtue. PHI END: This is one of the endings that can be achieved without going through any Locks. I think this makes sense: one of Phi's flaws is self-centredness, and it feels right for Phi to get a rather awful ending in such a way that it highlights her flaws. (Similarly, Sigma gets his most depressing ending when he is completely oblivious: Clover's ending.) Ironically, I hadn't been certain of this while planning: Sigma's general competence during that route plus my relative freedom to write want I wanted made me consider writing it as a Sigma route. Fortunately, common sense and decent storytelling prevailed. Sigma's route needs to be the true route; the ending where Phi is left alone should be hers. LUNA END: This is the other route lacking Plot Locks. The main difficulty with creating a Luna route was that I knew I'd be overshadowed by the original Luna route if I tried to compete directly against it. Instead I went with the idea that Phi would mistrust Luna because she was a robot. That naturally ensured that Luna's route would be the one where Sigma was feared because of his robotic arms: that set up the theme while ensuring that Phi would interact with Luna on normal terms until the reveal. TENMYOUJI END: Oh god, Tenmyouji end. Yeah. That one. It had to happen, of course. And, because the entire schtick of Empty Virtue is going into more detail about things, it had to be detailed to the point of an M rating. Whether fanfiction dot net's classification system would let it through doesn't matter: I do not want 13-year-olds reading stuff that heavy, period. CLOVER END: Clover's route is one of the more interesting ones, especially since it wins the award for 'Most chapters after VLR has already packed its bags and gone home'. I left what was going on at the end quite subtle, since Phi can't learn the major twists quite yet. For those of us in the know, however, we can realise that Clover did in fact succeed in contacting Light (It's not like a piddly little apocalypse would stop him). Tragically, she didn't recognise him because of the time that had passed. K END: This one was fun. Of course, there's no way to get around the fact that Dio is blackmailing Sigma, and that has to be the core of the route. Given that, it had to be the case that Phi worked it out as soon as possible so that the route could get underway; it's hardly like she could have missed it. I think my explanation is a bit clunky in places as to why everyone didn't communicate to stop Dio, but I didn't have any choice but to try. ALICE END: This was always going to be the tricky one, given that she's dead in so many timeline and with Sigma in so many others. So I figured, 'If Alice is going to have to be posthumous in her own route, why not use that?' From there came the idea of the recording of her last moments, the decision to use the security room, and the final Plot Lock. QUARK END: Another ending/character match required by the original novel. It still worked really well even with Quark away for most of it. Even with the Plot Key requiring that Phi and Quark re-enter the facility rather than explore somewhere new, it was nice to get the chance to reveal more of Quark's background, wring some emotions out of Phi, and give you all an excuse to listen to Blue Bird Lamentation. DIO END: Well, it's the one with the first explicit hints about the main twist of Empty Virtue, so I won't say too much here. SIGMA END: *Spoilers*... ;-) o-0-o Planned Stories (Mentioned here to keep me honest, given that it'll take me years to get to this stuff): I have an idea for a Pokemon High-school fic that I want to try. The framing device will be that a pokemon sociologist (in both senses) will be studying the effect of a high school set up only for pokemon, and the effects that pokemons' abilities have both on the school and the world around them. I will never be able to post it here (interview fic falls under the same restriction as script fic and chat-client fic) but I'm still going to write it. My first ever fanfic idea (beaten out by the others for being both very research intensive and not very well formed in my mind): a crossover between Pokemon and Harry Turtledove's Worldwar. The basic idea is that the efficiency-minded Race will act like frequenters of Smogon, and I'll match them up against the Tosevites (Earthlings) who act like (and usually are) characters from the anime. As usual, I'll mash the two franchise names together to get Catching the Balance I've really felt that in A Certain Scientific Railgun, Uiharu's power is really underrated. I want to write a fic boosting her power and call it A Certain Scientific Insulator |
