![]() Author has written 14 stories for Matrix, Dexter, X-Files, Star Wars, and 100. Hi, I'm Sólia. I insist upon spelling in Australian English despite that the movies and television shows I watch and have written for are usually American. I will not spell 'colour' without a 'u', thanks. I consider myself a writer, not just an author, despite now having my own original works in print. The terms feel worlds apart: an author is just someone who wrote a book whereas a writer is an artist, and I like that idea. I moved on from fanfiction to focus on my own original writing, but have found that dabbling in fanfiction as a light creative outlet is good for the soul. Even though I cringe now at some of my older fanfiction work, I keep them all up because they were special to me at the time of publishing and represent both my learning curve and also my first chance to be read and reviewed by peers. Allowing someone else into your imaginary world can be really scary so whether the writing is good or bad you should always be proud of yourself when you take that step and post something new. I believe in fanfiction.net's capacity to allow writers to grow and develop writing skills through peer moderation and constructive review, so I endeavour to comment on everything I read. If I have reviewed your work and you're viewing this page because you're unhappy with me, know that my opinions are nothing more than opinions. Just like yours. I will be tactful and constructive if I post a negative review - and I expect the same courtesy in return. If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all. In my other life I am a school teacher, an editor and a Doctoral candidate in Publishing Studies (with research centred on fanfiction) so I am naturally critical and seeking to help writers to improve. I'm on Tumblr as six-impossiblethings, follow me! For details on my original published novels: Sólia |
