Author has written 17 stories for RENT, Sherlock, Captain America, and Coco. Who am I: Hi all :D I'm an artist and part-time fangirl living near Seattle, Land of the Coffee Bean. I dance (swing, salsa, and blues), draw, write, and just nerd-out as a general hobby. I design game and comic characters on a regular basis, (alas, unpaid) largely because I just really really love a well-done character and creating a personality and a life for someone is incredibly fun. A few notes about what I do and don't write: I ADORE character interaction. A lot of my stories are going to feature heavy introspection and a lot of bantering dialogue. I strive hard to keep characters in character, because otherwise, why bother to use existing ones? In focusing on the character interaction, and given these are based on well established characters, I tend to go lighter on physical descriptions than I would for characters of my own creation. We all know what Sherlock or Captain America look like, there's no reason for me to describe them to you in any great detail. Especially since this is, in fact, just for fan-funsies: there's no reason to recreate The Great American Novel to bring you Batman going out for coffee. That said, I will try to be descriptive and atmospheric with my scenes. I typically don't do slash fiction. I tend not to pair characters that aren't paired in cannon, except for in cases where their relationships aren't really defined, or when they're strongly hinted to be moving that direction, but haven't quite gotten there yet. I like to keep the tone of my stories moving between heavy drama and silly or gentle moments, because that's how life (and the best, most moving stories) work. I am the sort of person who's very fussy about transitions and don't like things to feel abrupt or arbitrary unless it feeds the story in some way. If my story doesn't feel strong enough and I can't decide how to fix it, I just won't post it. Half-assed stories make me sad :( For those who like erotic stories: Sorry folks, but I don't generally write explicit fiction, largely because I don't want to, and partly because it doesn't interest me to do so. I like to focus on the things that I loved about the original, and that's usually the characters and their relationships to each other. I assume the characters in romantic stories do sometimes get frisky off camera, (or carefully-choreographed-the-keep-the-bits-out-of-sight-and-keep-the-rating-down on camera, depending on the source material) but it's not usually something we, as an audience, need to know about. If I ever do have a story that I feel actually benefits from more than implied sexy-time content, I will rate it accordingly and put warnings in the description, and I will write those sexy-time scenes to the best of my ability. I also tend to avoid OCs and AUs because I find they tend to just clutter up a story that doesn't need them, and there's too much temptation for Mary-Sues and out-of-character-ness to to start cropping up. I have found a few AU stories that blew my mind at how tightly written and brilliantly done they were, so I'm open to trying them out in moderation. OCs in my writing are only for when the story just can't work without them. I find this also forces me to pay better attention to the characters I'm given, and find new ways to use them. Creating someone new, who can fit into an established world - and do it well- is way, way harder than you might think. What am I currently up to: As you've likely noticed from the posting dates... not much writing. I've been dealing with some serious burnout and a lot of REAL LIFE (tm) stuff, and I just haven't had the time or energy to burn on writing fic. Someday I plan to come back, but I'm not sure when. Some miscellaneous notes: I'm not a Steve/Bucky shipper, though I can see where the people who are are coming from. I just see their relationship as incredibly close friends, practically brothers. They definitely love each other, but not in a making-out and jumping bones sort of way. Regarding Sherlock: I... really lost my taste for this one after the first season. I had expected the treatment of the female characters to improve (it did not) and the implied romance to be resolved. Neither happened, so I stopped caring. (The show got weird and I got tired of how poorly the female characters were written and treated as the show went on. At this point, I'm basically only writing Marvel (or a little bit of Rogue One) fics, and even those are waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back on the list of things that I have to do. Sadly, I'll be MIA for the forseeable future in terms of posting. In the meantime, please enjoy what's here. (And please note, I love getting comments and feedback, so don't be shy if you liked something in my stories! :) ) As far as my Sherlock fics go, it's disclaimer time: I'm not British. I don't really know any British people, and I'm not super up on my Briticisms. I did try to pull as much as I could from the dialogue in the show, other BBC shows I've watched, and the little I know about British slang... BUT if you notice I've misused slang or used the American version of a word, this is why. It's not because I'm an idiot. It's because I'm an American. The two are not always synonymous... just sometimes. Captain America disclaimer: I'm not much of a history nerd. I have a decent sense of what is and isn't period-appropriate and I'll generally at least do a cursory internet search for things I'm not sure of. That said, I don't meticulously research my stories. If I make a whoops, feel free to point it out, but please don't expect me to re-write my plot around it. If you'd like to PAY ME monies to write such a meticulously researched story, I'd certainly be up for it :) Otherwise, I'm afraid I simply don't have the time. Where else you can find my work: As I mentioned waaaay up at the top there, I'm an artist as well as an (amateur) writer. If you're interested in seeing my artwork: My sketch blog is here, and my tumblr contains all of my blog posts plus various other things I've found or created in the meantime. If you like my work (written or drawn) and you're interested in commissioning me to do something for you, hit me up :) I'm always interested in commission work. Other fandoms you might later see work from me in include: Labyrinth, Marvel, RENT (oh, looky, here's one!), Miyazaki films, Star Wars universe (Rogue One hit me hard) and a smidgeon of Coco fic. I don't watch much TV and I tend not to fangirl over much in terms of movies, but when inspiration hits, I will post it here :) Keep reading, and I'll see you with fresh new stories when I'm able! |
