UPDATE DECEMBER 25 !

Preview : (not actually sure this will make it to the final draft, but here you go) (also, this is actually a rewriting of a scene in RoaWL, the only scene I'm probably keeping from the original story)

In retrospect, she still wouldn't be able to explain it. His gaze, like Medusa's, froze her from the inside out, paralyzing every cell in her body with something akin to fear. Her nerves were electric, waiting for the tiniest movement before they exploded, but paradoxically she couldn't feel her heart anymore. It was beating so slowly that it was almost like it wasn't beating at all.

Everything around her muted and slowed down, like her heart, until all she could see was his eyes, dark galaxies, and all she could hear was the sound of her uneven breathing. Someone had released a dam, she was sure, because she was suddenly emerged in an ocean of emotions that were not her own.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: When will you update next?

A: When I have time. Which isn't often. But I am still working on it! Note: Please do not harass me, ordering me to update sooner as it only has the opposite effect.

Q: How long do you plan on writing?

A: I want to finish this story even if it takes me years. However I don't know how busy I'll get in real life, so I have no idea. Also knowing myself, I most probably won't get around to finishing it because I'm lazy and I lack drive and imagination.

Q: Any advice for someone writing OC fics?

A: I wouldn't have any advice to give you really. This is my first story and I don't claim for it to be good or anything. If you want your story to be 'realistic' I guess I would say to have a good build up on his/her personality/abilities. And please don't waste two, three paragraphs describing how your character looks. Gah. I've always rolled my eyes when reading those parts. "Her long blond hair swayed softly with the cool breeze" please avoid those kind of sentences. They make my eye twitch. In the end however, the writing style/ plot/ character is all up to you! Do whatever you like/ enjoy.

Q: Do you have any drawing/sketches/paintings of Ren?

A: No. Mostly has to do with the fact that I am not what you call an artist. I can write and string words together to make a sentence. But give me a paintbrush or a pencil and you'll end up with something that I like to call modern art. Yep. Still haven't found a way to make it blow up like Deidara's.

Q: How do I get a story to become popular?

A: I don't know. I think for a story to be "popular" it has to be good (although there are tons of excellent fics that are underrated when they should be getting loads more of reviews/views!)

Just write for yourself. Write what you like and what makes you satisfied in the end. Not everyone's going to like what you write, regardless of the quality/time you put in, so just make sure it's something you're proud of.

If you enjoy writing it/ reading it, then others will too.

Also, make sure your summary is attention grabbing (if possible) and has no spelling/grammar mistakes. If people catch an error in those 140 words or so, they'll probably think the rest of your story is that way as well (even if it isn't!). Make sure the title is interesting or different? Maybe find a good picture? I don't know..

Maybe ask a well known ff author to promote your story? Go on tumblr and recommend your fic? I think there's a thread on this website where you can self promote your story. I'm not sure.

Q: How do I make sure my character is not a Mary-Sue?

A: Ah. Well. Make sure she has flaws. She can't be good at everything. She has to react like a normal person even if she does end up saving the day.

Q; How do I know if my character is a Mary-Sue or not?

A: Ask youself, is is your character good looking? Strong? Smart? Sure, loads of canon characters are, and they aren't Mary-Sues. Just make sure your has a flaw or two that balances out their qualities. What authors tend to do is make their OC the way they would like to be, and end up making this perfect character that everybody loves and respects.

Q: What to avoid doing when writing a fic?

A: avoid using cliches! Try to do something original. Avoid going to OOC (unless that's your intention). Please don't spend paragraphs describing how your character looks like (that goes for any other characters as well).

If your Author's Note is longer than your story, you're doing something wrong.

Please pay attention to spacing. I won't read stories that don't have sufficient spacing and I'm sure others won't either. DON'T Bold, underline, italicize your entire story. Those functions should only be used for emphasis or if you're writing someone's dreams, thoughts, flashbacks, etc.

Don't demand a certain number of reviews per chapter. That's just annoying and will probably have the opposite effect your looking for. I don't like it when author's hold their own stories hostage but maybe that's just me.

Avoid writing a fic that's all description or all dialogue. There should be a healthy amount of both.

This is just my opinion and I am in no way obligating people to follow this bullet list or saying that people that don't follow these tips are bad writers and their stories are trash.
