Herein lies the shorts and clips of parts I liked, but I couldn't get them to fit within the plot. There is no continuity between them, nor do they fit anywhere in the Living Legend series. As Tony Daniels once put it, this is THE CUTTING ROOM FLOOR.

Kess's brother, Nik Lendra, has been captured by the Empire as use as a pawn so Grand Moff Jakobi can retain power as the new Emperor's top aide. Zach Vanech, the assassin-looking pimp, begins his Jedi Training. Luke figures out the other man with which Kess has growing feelings. All the while, the Alliance rushes to prepare for the final advance on Coruscant.

The Emperor is dead and so is the Supreme Prophet he once left in charge. Days after the Battle of the Line, the Empire scrambles for stability while the Alliance calculates how to end this war once and for all. Plan Aurek is fraught with military risk. Plan Besh is next to politically impossible. The Jedi must put trust to the test if they are going to succeed with Plan Cresh.

The Empire starts moving their chess pieces around and these kidnapping attempts have become too much to ignore. Kess sorts out the skeletons in her own closet and decides it's time to face the Supreme Prophet as well. "The Jedi Apprentice goes for the boss battle!" But Luke isn't ready to let her graduate.

Kess Lendra is a regular rebel grunt until her brother finds an old photo of her grandfather with a lightsaber. When asked for help to design a dud lightsaber, she mails Skywalker for help. Next thing she knows, she's on a treaty mission with a Wookiee she doesn't understand, a Captain that doesn't like her and a Jedi playing tricks to learn if she's really Force-sensitive or not.

Back to military life, Skywalker transfers Kess to his command so he can keep an eye on her fits of temper. He gets more than he bargained for when the grease monkey grounds his squadron for overhauls, not to mention training a female rebel under a microscope grows complicated. When the worst part of Luke's 'long story' is revealed, his apprentice snaps under the strain.

Qui Gon guides young Obi Wan during a particularly difficult lesson, but it is not until he is an adult that Obi Wan learns the truth behind the assignment. Anakin's response is something less than spectacular. Finger pointing flares between the Too Young Master and Too Old Apprentice. Obi Wan is forced to prove his worth to the boy by using a skill he doesn't actually have.
