![]() Author has written 19 stories for Harry Potter, Chronicles of Narnia, Hunger Games, and Percy Jackson and the Olympians. “The first draft is just you telling yourself the story.” ― Terry Pratchett ABOUT ME: I'm Steph, previously known as Luna around here, and it has been a hot minute since I've been on this site. Sorry about that; the truth is I finished my last year of high school (aka the most stressful year of everyone's lives lol) and have since been trying to get back into writing. I turned nineteen last month, which is crazy when you consider that I joined this site when I wasn't even twelve. I'm also bi 333 A big reason I stopped writing fanfiction specifically was the fact that I became more critical of the media I was consuming. I became uncomfortable with certain tropes (ie. 'burying the gays' and 'disposable woman/kill the cutie' in particular) in TV shows that I initially enjoyed before they pulled them. Add in the fact the certain authors/film-makers either won't stop adding to a universe that no one asked for (looking at you, J.K) or they mischaracterise pre-exisiting characters (Rian Johnson), and I became disillusioned with fandoms in general. That being said, I realised recently that fanfiction is all about content for fans. If you're not happy with Steve Rogers ending in Endgame, chances are there are fix-it fics for that. If you want to see magical creatures in a series called 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them', there are fics that delve deeper into that aspect of the Wizarding World. And even if you were happy with canon, there are always a multitude of perspectives of characters in different scenes. Furthermore, I realised that I shouldn't hang my sense of identity onto the fandoms I was apart of as I did in my early teenage years. By putting franchises and celebrities onto a pedestal, I was only setting myself up for inevitable disappointment when it came out that the writers were just queerbaiting, or were attempting to get the audience to empathise with the abusive villain rather than the protagonists who were right there. So, for anyone who reads this, please let this be your one take-away: have a variety of interests outside of fandom culture and don't get too disappointed if someone you look up to messes up/an ending doesn't go the way you're happy with. Life goes on and you can make up your own stories that suit your wants and needs. RANT OVER (sorry heehee) you can find more hot takes (lol) over on my tumblr @zabbaskinlin AND you can check out my art on instagram @pharosx CURRENT FANDOMS: - Harry Potter - Marvel (mcu itsv) - DnDnD Podcast - Star Wars (everything up to TLJ) - Good Omens - Wonder Woman (the valid DC movie) lets be real, if you recommend anything to me, I'll probably watch and enjoy it STORY UPDATES: Adoption? Me? - is my most read story and admittedly, I have no idea why. However, I am in the midst of re-writing it - this time, with an actual plan/plot as to where I am going with it. This is the most likely to be updated and is kind of my main priority Next Gen and More Read... - well, seeing how FFN treats these types of stories, it's probably not going to be updated soon :(( While I am glad it wasn't removed in the purge of these kinds of stories, I am hesitant to even touch it. However, I still find the concept of the Next Gen interacting with the Marauders Lily interesting and will probably re-write those character interactions into their own story, especially now that we have """""canon""""" characterisations of the Next Gen kids I will not be updating any other stories, mostly because a lot of them were fandom challenges that have long since ended. I will, once I start uploading the Adoption? Me? rewrite, begin writing new stories, but I ask that you have patience (I don't have as much time to write as I used to sorryyyyy) I love and miss you all, even tho this site is garbage |
