For the latest story I've written, I've stepped away from the universe as we know it. In order for you to keep from getting confused, I've posted some background information for the characters as they are in my story.

THE AWAKENING

Carlisle

Carlisle Cullen lives in New York City. He comes from a very old, very wealthy family, and is considered American royalty. Using his tenacity and tremendous intelligence, he has continued building his family’s fortune and has established a reputation as a brilliant businessman.

He is also a Dominant, living a secretive yet decadent BDSM lifestyle. His beloved wife, Elizabeth, who also served as his submissive, died ten years earlier, leaving him alone to take care of his three children: Emmett and twins Alice and Edward. He loves his family, as they are the defining proof of his and Elizabeth’s love, but does not get to spend much time with them. Emmett is in Hanover at Dartmouth, whilst the twins attend an exclusive boarding school in Connecticut, and spend most of their free time with Elizabeth’s family, the Masens.

Although at first he abstains, his Dominant personality eventually drives him to play in the ten years that follow his wife’s death, but no one has truly touched his heart or the urge to give his collar... until a chance encounter with Bella Swan.

Bella

Born and raised in Seattle, Isabella Swan considers herself plain and unremarkable. Though truly beautiful, her clumsy and awkward nature drives her to believe otherwise. She is also painfully shy, and has never had a boyfriend, unless you count three days of handholding with Tyler Crowley back in the sixth grade.

She moves to New York after high school to attend NYU, where she takes a series of business classes, and supplements her income by working as waitress for a catering company.

Nowhere in her imagination did she envision meeting someone like Carlisle, much less what would happen next...
