Author has written 3 stories for Legend of Zelda, Final Fantasy VII, and Mario. Hi my name is Emily. I am 20 years old. I believe that you can never be too old to enjoy videogames. I have read many fanfics on this site and I have been inspired to write and publish my own works, giving credit where it is due. I live in St Agnes, which is a suburb of Adelaide, South Australia. I own a PS2 (got it cheap!!!) and my favourite games are Final Fantasy X, Final Fantasy X-2, Monster Hunter 3 (Wii), Super Smash Bros Brawl (Wii), Mario Kart Wii, Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, The Wind Waker and many others. There are others that I haven't yet played but hope to do so in the near future. I'm not a big movies fan, but I love my music, even if some of it doesn't meet the standards of my family hahaha. They like lots of rock and roll and emo screamo but I'm just a little bit different. I'm nerdy, creepy, annoying, lame and all sorts of other things in the eyes of most people, but when you get to know me, I'm alright. I don't like to talk myself up because I don't want to seem stuck up. Things I know for sure about myself is that I can be moody, temperamental and shy. I'm still figuring out what I want to do with myself but I certainly would like to travel. I was born in South Australia, but much of my childhood and adolescence has been spend in Western Australia, particularly in the rural area of the Great Southern which includes Gnowangerup, Lake Grace, Pingrup, Nyabing and Katanning. I haven't had the best luck with housemates, but then again they never did get to know the real me so they were the ones really missing out. When it comes to fanfics, I like to deviate alittle from the regular storylines. Lately I've thought up some OCs, but I like to think they have some real substance. Background characters, if you like. Especially with the Legend of Zelda. But if I ever get writer's block (which happens quite a bit for me), I will start another fic to tide you readers over. Hopefully you'll like them. I am open to constructive criticism, but insult me and the result won't be pretty. You have been warned. Also, for the stories I have in mind, because they are set in universes already created by the main developers, they don't have any place on FictionPress because they aren't totally original. Think of it as an idea that could be submitted to the great minds of Nintendo and/or Square Enix, for instance. I like stories that have a bit of madness to them, because, to be totally honest with you all, a bit of madness does linger within me... Mwahahahaha!! I will update every now and then, and hope that my word processor will be compatible with this site's system, since it's failed me on many occasions when it comes to my resume and online job applications!!! Only because Microsoft Word isn't on this computer because the trial period had expired!!! Damn you, Microsoft!!!!! So, there's only one way to find out. If it works, enjoy, my pretties... As you can see, I have submitted the first couple of chapters for my first fic, Lady Death. The main character is Zanna (Italian for 'fang'), who is from the Canish Tribe. The people are characterised by their unusually long canine teeth that resemble those of a wolf. They have tanned skin, dark hair, purple eyes and pointed ears like the Hylians. The plot was on my mind for a long time, all I needed to figure out was where to fit it into the Legend of Zelda time line. I thought about doing a completely new Hyrule, but the regulations and the expectations of users of the site don't leave a lot of room for that. So in the end, I set the story to the beginning of Ocarina of Time, before the start of Link's quest and before Ganondorf meets with the King of Hyrule. I figured that since Ganondorf is a self-absorbed jerk, he wouldn't have the energy to do every absolute thing to take over Hyrule. He would have needed someone to do the dirty work for him. Zanna was raised by the Gerudo, but her upbringing was lacking in maternal love. Since she was brought up as a servant, she has high expectations of freedom when she finally gets it. But her mistress didn't want her to have freedom and goes in disguise to try and sabotage her initation into the Gerudo tribe. Zanna kills her, thinking she's just a murderous thug, and is so torn apart by it that she'll do anything to make it up to her adopted tribe. She is also hampered by her natural urge to kill everything that moves, which is another trait of her race. Because Ganondorf has given her an important job to do, she tries to contain herself. Thinking that Ganondorf wants peaceful relations with Hyrule, she blindly obeys him to become a servant of the King also. Since she's an orphan, she's missed out on parental love. She thought of her mistress as a mother before accidentally killing her, and looks up to Ganondorf as a father, as they both give her a sense of belonging, even though she can't see that she's being used. When she does realise, will it be too late? Read on to find out! ;) Well, I have changed the title of Lady Death to 'At Your Service'. The plot and the title didn't really fit well together. I have added some twists to keep things interesting. I have finished it, which is perfect timing since I was just about to experience writer's block. I figured that since my imagination was running wild, I may as well harness it with this site. As a result, a reader has kindly added my story to their favourites, which I find really encouraging. Maybe soon more people will like it and even review. However, I'm not expecting a lot. With my first fic out of the way, I can post another story which I felt inspired to write. Basically, with my first fic, I was attempting to address the issue of genetic engineering which is being used in our world today. We have seen it in the form of animal cloning and genetically modified food. So I thought, 'What would happen if scientists changed the genetic characteristics of humans?' Thus, At Your Service was born. I thought that since the Twinrova were engaged in brainwashing experiments, I wouldn't put it past them to interfere with people of other races. Gamers are told about a war before the events of Ocarina of Time, so it would have made sense to have Hylians and Sheikah captured for the sinister purposes of the Gerudo. And of course it backfired, because my OC Zanna found out what they had done to her people, and massacred the Gerudo. Because of the extent of her rampage, the Gerudo dubbed her 'Lady Death.' Having her restored to her rightful form by the Great Fairy, this symbolises a new start in life, and the promise of redemption and being able to move forward without looking back. She can now defeat enemies cleanly, because her thirst for blood is gone for good. Now she kills to defend, not to satisfy. She can now make up for the life she missed out on, as you can see in the fic. I'm already going through some ideas for a side-fic, showing readers an alternate reality that lines up with the plot of Ocarina of Time. More updates soon. There was a report on the news a few weeks ago about certain videogames being moved from an M15 rating to an R rating. 'Experts' are so concerned about what teenagers are playing, but I think they should mind their own bloody business. They are concerned that if kids play such violent games, they themselves will most likely be more violent. I disagree. Videogames don't inspire violence. They are inspired by violence a lot of the time. And if kids are disciplined properly, they should already know the difference between right and wrong. And if you try to place a ban on something, people are only going to want it more. People were stealing cars (and horses) long before the Grand Theft Auto series was made. Grand Theft Auto did not turn people into car thieves and murderous thugs. Those sorts of people were already out there. Josef Stalin and Adolf Hitler didn't need to play violent videogames to murder millions of people. Our governments didn't need videogames to send their troops to fight in wars. And people complain about how a lot of the games out there aren't realistic enough. Well, isn't that the whole point? Fantasy knows no boundaries, and that's the way it should be. When you're playing a game, it's good to forget the troubles of the real world, even for a little while. If your life is all work and no play, you'll lose it one day. Games are good for when you're bored shitless, when you need a laugh, or an enemy to vent out all your frustration on. If you want to blame the violence of people on someone, blame the parents for either messing with their heads with abuse, or refusing to spank them and letting them get out of control, or even blame the generations before us, for their violent ways. Don't blame a videogame. It was made by people. It didn't make itself, so don't blame it for making people violent. Like I said before, violence came before videogames. So just shut up. Just saying, is all. Greetings from Australia! I have began writing and publishing my new fic, Renegade Dragoon. It is set after Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children. The story is about a dragoon named Rena Cowell, who is the child of a young couple who were among the few people who had the worst case of Geostigma and died. Rena is snatched away to a secret orphanage on the outskirts of civillisation. For reasons unknown, Rena is targeted by a perverted deranged scientist who worked under the guise of a tutor, studying child behaviour, and made Rena a test subject against her will, experimenting the affects of paedophilia on children. Thanks to Luke, who is Vincent's clone, AVALANCHE find the orphanage and rescue the children and burn down the orphanage. Rena is then under the protective custody of Cloud and Tifa. Luke goes and joins Shinra to find out how he was cloned from Vincent, unbeknownst to AVALANCHE, and Rena follows suit, despite the protests of Tifa and Cloud. Rena tracks down the deranged tutor back to the Shinra Science Department, and joins as part of the infantry. Because of her gender, she suffers harassment, even from those who claim to be friends. Discouraged from reaching her goal, she attempts to desert, hoping to catch up with Luke, but she is captured and is then made to endure experiments conducted by Professor Daemon, the same man who caused her suffering twelve years previously. Her body warped by extracted Bahamut 'B' cells, and mako, she can now change into a different creature. Spoiler: Daemon isn't dead yet. Rena still has unfinished business. She will still have to go back to AVALANCHE, and even support Luke during his trials and tribulations. It turns out that there is more than just disturbing genetic engineering. The Turks want Rena, too. The army has been ordered to destroy her. Lots of things to look forward to, when I have time to write it. But the inspiration is there. But I have had to do some research before any of the first chapters were made. As always, if you don't like, don't read. Watching Advent Children and playing Crisis Core inspired me to write this. If you have any ideas, please share, and I will give you credit in my disclaimer. I did join this site, not only to lay my imagination bare, but also to communicate with other writers. Oh, and one more thing. I am in the process of researching a Monster Hunter fic. I have my brother to thank for getting me into it. At the moment, I'm playing Monster Hunter on PSP, and it's lots of fun, and a little bit frustrating. If you're failing alot, then you really need to upgrade armour or a weapon. I might even set the story in the PSP storyline. Maybe even use my character. Well, stay with me and let's see what I come up with. Okay, so as you may have been reading, things are not what they seem in my fic, Renegade Dragoon. Rena finds out that she was adopted, and is really the test tube product of DNA kept back from Aerith and Sephiroth. Their samples have been kept long after their passing. Even though Sephiroth is dead, he communicates with and influences Rena to the point where she nolonger thinks for herself. Convinced that Cloud murdered both her biological parents, she seeks revenge. But despite what she thinks, she's not after revenge for herself. Sephiroth is using her as a vessel for his own return, with no intention of resurrecting Aerith. He hasn't got that kind of power. If he can destroy Rena, he hopes to take her power to get himself to the Promised Land... That's the idea, anyway. Monster Hunter idea abandoned. I'm just not getting any inspiration there. Maybe later down the track, when I'm better at it. It would help if the PSP battery lasted longer, and that stupid wyvern would stop flying away after my paint ball runs out... And that stupid flatulant Congalala running off and taking a nap... Meh. I'm more of a Zelda and FF girl anyway. Chapter 11 is up for Renegade Dragoon. Dude, does that title even fit anymore? Well... Rena's a dragoon, and she went renegade. Yep, it fits! As you may have gathered, I don't even follow a typical author's framework. That's because if I plan something, later on I think of something else and decide that the new idea is better. So I never really know which way it's going. That's kind of like my gaming style. Like with Spirit Tracks. When I think that a different route is better or safer, I go that way instead. Besides, I really don't want to be predictable. Not very, anyway. For instance, how many of you were expecting Rufus Shinra to be in on Hojo and Daemon's plan? Okay, maybe some of you. But even I didn't expect that. I think it just goes with Rufus' sneaky persona. What can you expect from a Shinra, anyway? They're untrustworthy. Typing up Chapter 12 right now. Slowly. Writer's block is back again! Ahahaha... not surprised... |
