When I was eight my gran brought me a copy of 'A Princess of Mars'. I couldn't believe that people wrote things like that. Enid Blyton it wasn't! No stuffy grown-ups here.

I found Lord of the Rings when I was nine & from then on devoured everything in print that came my way. I grew up feeling the wind in my hair from the deck of the Dawn Treader; weeping for the Laurelindorenon that will never shine by its own light again; dragging my dad all over Alderley Edge looking for the entrance to the Fundindelve; flying with the white eagles in Vandarei; seeing the Kemplerer rosette of worlds flash past me at lightspeed as I await transport to the Puppeteer planet and ice-boating on moonlit nights across the Lake of the Coheeries, sipping hot buttered rum ... so many wonderful stories.

Here on FF I have read authors who are the match of those from my teens and tweens. You have given me more adventures, made me laugh, made me cry on more than one occasion and on many, many days, have reduced me to a swooning puddle with your stories. Thank you all so much. You have cemented into me the idea that when I eventually start to grow old, I'm going to do so disgracefully.
