Author has written 16 stories for Due South, Danny Phantom, and Monkees. January 2, 2014 Today I became a published author. Well... a self-published author, but it's a real book, with pages and everything. It's a book of episode reviews, titled Monkee Magic: a Book about a TV Show about a Band. Available from and in e-book format from amazon, barnesandnoble and smashwords. What a weird world this is... Melanie (bluemoonalto) September 11, 2012 I predicted, nearly a year and a half ago, that if I ever came back to writing it would be in a completely different way. Well, I was right. The fandom bug has bitten me again, and this time, it's a program much more suited to my age. The Monkees! I was a very young girl when the show made its debut in 1966, and it's still just as fresh and fun as ever. I've been writing and posting episode reviews on a Tumblr account (http:///) and Nantukos (the evil muse of Limerick poetry) has been hounding me night and day. How very strange... Melanie (bluemoonalto) March 18, 2011 My goodness, it's been a long time since I've done this. I drifted away from the fandom in late 2007, as my inspiration to write fanfic waned. It may come back someday, but probably in a completely different way, as it has done before. (Due South and Danny Phantom? Really?) Anyway, once in a rare while I get an email from this site, letting me know that somebody has given me a "fave," or more rarely--and infinitely more precious--a review. It's always a delightful surprise to get such a notification. Anyway, I realized about a month ago that I had about a dozen completed stories on the site, and one glaringly unfinished one. To my great shame. So I came back, dusted it off, and started writing again. Livin' Larger is almost finished, and when it's done I'll fade back into the woodwork again. But I do deeply appreciate every comment, so if you're so inclined, I'll be very thankful. Melanie (bluemoonalto) December 9, 2006 I once swore I would never limerick again, but I've just suffered another attack from Nantukos, the evil muse of limerick poetry. It took me six days to summarize the Danny Phantom episode "The Ultimate Enemy" in sixty-one limericks. I've also added a "how to write limericks" page to my website. In happier news, I'm about to finish "Schroedinger's Anniversary." It's a great feeling to be writing again! Melanie (bluemoonalto) November 27, 2006 I'm up to 27 episode reviews and 5 essays on my site. "Schroedinger's Anniversary" is finally coming together, though I'm fairly certain it's going to have very little popular appeal. How are people going to react to a story that has no plot? Melanie (Bluemoonalto) September 12, 2006 Update: my website is growing! I now have fourteen episode reviews of my own, plus one from fellow author Victoria. I've added a soapbox page, where I will post essays and rants, and a "coming attractions" page for my fics-in-progress. I've started a forum on , called "Beta Readers Central." It's designed to be a place where authors in need of a beta can find one, or people who are willing to be beta readers can offer their services. Additional threads are available for discussions related to beta reading issues. Do stop by! Melanie (Bluemoonalto) August 26, 2006 I just realized that some people have actually "visited" my profile, such as it was. . . which is to say, nothing at all. So I'll give at least some basic information about myself. I first came to Chicago on the trail of the killers of my father, and have remained. . . no, that's not right. That's the Explanation from Due South, my first fandom. I'm the Keeper of the Explanation, as well as Frannie's water pistol, and I have a modest collection of Due South fanfic to my name, some of which is archived here on fanfiction.net and all of which can be found on my Due South website (/ifirstcametochicago). That site also has an episode guide, brain teasers and a few rants. I do love to rant. If you like my writing but don't know anything about Due South, try reading Chicago, 1968. It's a backstory for a minor character in the series, and a reader wouldn't have to know anything about the show for the story to make sense. It also happens to be my best work. Now I'm dipping my toes into Danny Phantom fiction, having recently discovered the series while channel surfing on a lazy Saturday. Now that I have two fics finished and two more on the back burner, I've set up a Danny Phantom website (/bluemoonalto) with seven episode reviews so far (one in rhyme!) and my first Danny Phantom rant. If you'd like to contribute reviews for the site, please drop me a line! Thanks for visiting, Melanie (bluemoonalto) |
