![]() Author has written 6 stories for Star Trek: 2009, X-Men: The Movie, Thor, Fifty Shades Trilogy, Captain America, and Avengers. I'm a freelance writer from Kentucky who fell in love with writing when, in the eighth grade, I decided it would be fun to write a book. Someone should have put me in a padded cell for that life choice. I've been writing fanfiction for many years for my own enjoyment and only recently decided to start posting my writing here. My philosophy on fanfiction: While original canon should be treated with respect, what's the point of trying to recreate point for point what has already been written? The very fact that we are all writing from our own experiences and perspectives means changes will be made. However, I strive to blend any creative choices I make into the canon with as much logical cohesion as possible. My philosophy on original characters: Mary Sues and their male counterparts have given original characters inserted into established worlds a bad reputation. Original characters should be as well-rounded and believable as a character in original fiction. They should be part of the action and serve a purpose without making the established characters take a back seat. They should absolutely have an effect on the dynamics of canon character interaction without resulting in the canon characters being unrecognizeable. It's all "what if." How would this new character change relationships and events that unfold? A note on constructive criticism: It's my friend. I love it. I need it. I will not say I love constructive criticsm and then blow up at someone who wants to point something out they think I could have done better. We're no doubt all leery of leaving it for fear we'll get screamed at by the author. Absolutely tell me what I did right. I love praise. But absolutely tell me what you think I did wrong, and I will take your advice into consideration. Active Stories Sentience: The crew of the Enterprise is asked to hunt down anti-Federation terrorists on a planet recently inducted into the Federation, but not everything is as it seems. Will a new crew member upset the dynamic and rattle Bones' comfort zone? BonesXOC. When I started building my original character for this story, I wasn't aware of the trends in fanfiction, however, when I started posting, I noticed a tendency for Bones to be paired up with female engineers. I made my character an engineer because I know more about fixing mechanical things than working with telecommunications. There also seems to be a trend for Jim getting hooked up with doctors. Didn't know that until after I'd made my secondary character a doctor, because I have an excellent beta who has experience with medicine and hospitals. Satus: The story is completely written and edited. I've just chosen to post it a little at a time so as not to overwhelm readers. The Kill: While on a mission in an insane asylume, Rogue is forced to kill a mental patient with her draining mutation. Is her resulting behavior simply picking up his mannerisms or something more? How will John's return to the mansion affect her? Rated M for strong language. I wrote this over a year ago but thought it was good enough to post online. The fic was started because I wanted to explore Rogue's tendency to go nuts from having so many personalities in her head as shown in the Evolution cartoons. That and I personally think her mutation gives her the capability of being one of the strongest mutants in existence. Status: Completely written and edited. Just posting it a little at a time so as not to overwhelm readers. Planned Stories: Untitled LotR: Eight months after the War of the Ring, Gondor and Rohan are caught up in war with the Easterlings. A blind Easterling woman appears in Eomer's tent under suspicious circumstances, prompting Eomer to suspect the enemy of trying to plant her on the throne of Rohan already carrying an Easterling child. This story is still being planned and written, so I don't have all the details hammered out. There will be quite a bit of subterfuge and more than one villain at work. The fun part for me is exploring and enhancing the Easterling culture. I wasn't able to find much about them when researching a villain for the story, so I've taken some creative license in the world-building while keeping it in line with the established cultures. Plus, the Easterlings just don't get much fanfiction love. Also thought it would be neat to have a blind heroine, who is also suffering from Stockholms Syndrome. I know the canon puts Eomer with Lothiriel, but I just wanted to explore a different vein of possibility. Untitled Labyrinth: I've been exploring the idea of Jareth's roots while trying to avoid the stereotypical "he's a fairy" after reading a forum here in which one of the main complaints is that he's always labeled a fairy. Haven't really progressed much, because my LotR story grabbed my attention. I might get to it in the future. |
