![]() Author has written 4 stories for Harry Potter. Do you read or write fanfiction? I take different kinds of delight from doing both! When did you first start reading/writing fanfiction?Only about a year ago, maybe a bit more. It came from nowhere; I was feeling inspired and out came a story with my favourite characters! Then I realized that heaps of other people did this too, and I learnt all the FF termionology and began posting my stories! What was your very first fandom? Charmed, but I never wrote or read fan fiction for that. (I was much younger and wasn't aware of the FF community). First ship? The first ships I wrote were canon's from Twilight and for Harry Potter it was Snape/OC. Who is your favourite character to write/read about? Severus Snape! He is such an enigma and so ambiguous, which makes him so much fun to write and gives you lots of room to explore his character. I also have such fun coming up with Snape-ish remarks! What website do you use most? Fanfiction.Net. What do you think of Fanfiction.net? I love this site. It's the only site I've ever used and I don't feel the need to change that! What fandoms have you written in? Twilight (but no longer) and Harry Potter. Pairings? Snape/Lily and Snape/OC. I also like to read some Hermione/Snape FF's as long as it's well-written. Any fandoms you would like to write in? One day I’d like to try Charmed (my favourite TV show growing up) and The Labyrinth. Do reviews affect how you write in any way? They don’t really affect the way I write, but they definitely provide a source of motivation and confidence. Do you use a beta? No. I’m a perfectionist, so I’m quite thorough when revising and editing my own work. What ratings do you read/write? I'll read any rating. It depends on the story and the summary. What warnings have you used on your fiction/read? I haven’t used any on my own fics so far, and I've read stories with a variety of warnings. Do you have any squicks? - Writing that looks at though little or no effort has been put into it (i.e. poor grammar, structure, no point to the story, et cetera) - Characters that are blatantly OoC (without a warning proviidd) - particularly in the case of my favourite character - I cannot bear to see Snape OoC (unless it's only minor and necessary for the plot, or in humorous stories) - Male pregnancy - Slash (unless it’s subtle and not the main focus of the story ) Do you Role-play online? Yes, but not very often. It provides me with inspiration for fan fiction sometimes. Have you ever stolen something from another person's work? Absolutely not! If I wish to use something, such as a phrase or a quote, I ask the writer permission. Favorite fandom to write/read? Harry Potter. Favorite pairing? Snape/OC as long as it is well done. Favorite writer/writers? How long should a chapter be? You just know it’s done at the end. Do you write/read drabbles? Yes, I read them. Some are super clever! Unfortunately, I’m not very good at writing them :( Any fandoms you avoid? I don’t avoid any per se, but my interest lies solely with Harry Potter. Pairings you avoid? Slash pairings, mostly. Warnings you avoid? Sometimes I’ll avoid OoC warnings. Do the number of reviews tell how good a story is? I’ve learnt that they do not. They can be a good indication, however, i.e. it is safe to assume that the stories with thousands of reviews are good stories. That being said, I’ve also come across many stories that have been wonderfully written and simply touching, that have received very little reviews, and I’ve found stories that are poorly written with an abundance of reviews. What do you think of Mary Sues? I think they are readable as long as the characters aren’t too flat and formulaic. I don’t write them however - my characters always have some flaw or another - otherwise I wouldn’t be able to empathize with my own characters, much less expect other readers to. Have you ever flamed someone? No. Usually, if I find a story really ghastly, I a) assume it has already been sufficiently flamed and b) am too angry to express myself anyway. Have you ever been flamed? No, not so far! :) |
