Author has written 14 stories for Les Miserables. If you're ever remotely curious about how I see Les Amis de L'ABC, here's my DeviantArt gallery: http:/// - Very Enjolras and Courfeyrac heavy, but I'm fond of each in his own way (as Enjolras was - or at least he saw their individual strengths...with the obvious exception). Grantaire was drawn to Enjolras by the pull of extremes. Having worked in politics both as a youth wing and university activist and then as a policy adviser to a cabinet minister, I'm sympathetic. Lacking my youthful convictions, and having compromised and embraced realpolitik at far too young an age, I feel the attraction (at least in literature) to a soaring absolute. Not that I'm entirely lacking in historical perspective, although my viewpoint is influenced by what I know of Irish revolutionary history as well as French. With a dash of English added in there, as the ColonelDespard handle suggests (a nod to an ancestor who was tried for his life with Despard, but who found his sentence commuted to life transportation to Australia). I'm also partial to Courfeyracs. Goodness knows, my weakness for them (and Hugo was right - they are a breed) has lead me astray on a few occasions. Not that I've never regretted it. |
