Hello! I am CookieTower and I—given the nature of this website—write fan fiction. What genre, you say? Why, I write BL, of course! Isn't that why you're here on my page in the first place? I mean, I've only one hetero- based story and I don't think it's that popular to be noticed by many.

What was that? You don't know what BL is? Hmm, well, does yaoi ring a bell? How about shounen-ai? M/M? Slash?

Well, if you are that innocent, my dear, please do not force yourself to find out what BL is. Trust me, I think you would be better off not knowing what it is. As Dan—a YouTube user known as danisnotonfire—says, "Run. Run and never get involved in this." Okay, maybe he said that for shipping, but it is somewhat related. Oh well, basically I am giving you a fair warning about the stories posted here on this page. Please view them with discretion! Although the stories aren't very explicit... okay, I have about two or three stories that is quite suggestive, but that's not the point. The point is to please avoid reading stories that aren't suitable for your age bracket and those that might offend you.

But curiosity will always slip in so of course you would want to know more about BL.

Now, before you decide to Google BL and manage to see something will scar you for LIFE, let me just give you a simple definition of the initials. BL stands for boys' love. It literally means love between two boys. The same meaning applies for yaoi, shounen-ai, M/M and, slash. So, don't Google the definition anymore. You might see something bad.

Okay! Let's move on to other things.

As you might have noticed, I've written mostly for Axis Powers: Hetalia so far. But look! I am slowly writing for other series now. That doesn't mean I have come to dislike Hetalia though. I just... sort of drifted away and drifted towards the world of sports anime and manga.

AmeCan will forever have a special place in my heart. Charot, ang drama ni ate haha. For now, I am obessessed with Kuroko no Basuke(Un)Fortunately, I am here to stay. My Kuroko no Harem calls my very soul. Free! has taken residence in here too.

But now, I practically breathe Gintama. HiiJin fills my lungs. I cannot live without them.

Eh? You're still reading? Oh dear, then that means I still have to amuse you. Okay then! You've probably deducted by now that I an an avid reader of BL. Yes, I am an avid reader of BL. Why? I really don't know. Some BL stories are just so cute. Of course, BL is not limited to fan fiction, dear readers. It takes the form of short stories, novellas, anime, manga, and comics too.

How did I start liking BL? It all started with Kyou Kara Maou. It is the first shounen-ai anime I've ever watched and it just continued from there.

I don't really watch much BL anime. In fact, I'm more of a manga-person than an anime-person.

I do love reading BL short stories, novellas and novels. Currently, I am in love with the works of Megan Derr. Her works are really good. Just check out her website for them. :)

Now for BL manga. I have a lot of BL manga saved up on my hard drive. I read manga like my life depended on it//dies.

If you're curious and you want to read BL manga, I suggest you go by reading in levels.

Now, I suggest you start with the extremely-mild ones first like Hanamatsuri by Aki, Saiyuki wa Boku wo Suki Sugiru by Ninomiya Etsumi, and Loveless by Kouga Yun. Most extremely-mild ones have no bluntly mentioned male-and-male relationships. They usually show a brotherly relationship that is so tight that the reader may think the characters are gay. Okay, maybe they really are gay, but there is no real relationship present. There are a few that actually mentions a relationship, but there is little to none of the sexual intimacy, even innocent kisses.

After you've manage to stomach the extremely-mild type, you can go on to mild-with-blatant-relationships type. These types mentions male-and-male relationships directly, so there is no denying that it is BL. Hana no Mizo Shiru and Seven Days by Rihito Takarai, Super Lovers by Abe Miyuki, and Stop Bullying Me! by Natsuho Shino are a few examples. The mild-with-blatant-relationships type does not show explicit sexual intimacies. Most of this type will only show kissing. Although this type might suggest that the couple did the you know what, it will not delve into the subject so deep that you will blush like a tomato. Really, the most explicit things you will see is the couple making out. And probably touching. But they will not fuck. Perhaps they do, but not in front of you. Nope, they won't give you a show.

Once you've dealt with the onslaugt of the mild-with-blatant-relationships type, the mild-and-not-safe-for-work type is your next challenge. Generally, this type is called the censored type because the parts are not explicitly shown. Examples of this type are Isso Mou Kudokitai by Kazuhiko Mashima, Tight Rope by Isaku Natsume, Warui ko Demo Ii by Mei Sakuraga, and Bukiyou na Silent by Takanaga Hinako. Some of this type, especially series, do not immediately show sexual intimacies—sometimes even showing it only at the last chapter. Manga of this type usually has a plot that doesn't revolve around sexual intimacies. Several times, readers will think that the some of the fucking was totally unnecessary for the progress of the story, but it does make for some good fan service.

When you've learned to live with the mild-and-not-safe-for-work type, it's time to try the seriously-this-is-not-safe-for-work type. This type distinctively shows the fucking of two males. Yes, please do not read these at school or at work. You can try, but seriously. Don't. Mousou Delusion and Michiru Heya by Nekota Yonezou, Kirai ja nai Kedo and Mujihi no Otoko by Mei Sakuraga, and Puchitto Hajiketa by Kanda Neko are good examples. These are stories that actually need the fucking to make a point. In other words, the sexual intimacies are needed for the story to progress. However, the plot is not overpowered by the sexual intimacies, and it still makes perfect sense.

If you have survived the seriously-this-is-not-safe-for-work type, you are ready for the oh-god-they-are-at-it-again type. Manga in this type is generously sprinkled with lemon. Smut. Fucking. Oh God, why. The stories usually revolve around sex. Or end with sex. Examples would be Ai to Yokubou wa Gakuen de by Hana Umezawa, A Sex Therapist by Kodaka Kazuma, and Crimson Spell by Ayano Yamane. One good trait of this type is that it still has a progressing plot. The story is not lost in the mounds of erotica, and it could still be appreciated. Like the seriously-this-is-not-safe-for-work type, it also uses the intimacies to make a point.

Finally, if you've miraculously slew the oh-god-they-are-at-it-again type, it is time for the am-I-reading-porn? type. The am-I-reading-porn? type is the highest level of BL manga. It is just plain smut with a negligible—if even noticeable—plot. Goshujin-sama to Wanko, Bousou Kareshi, and Himura-senseiby Sakira, and Love Trial and Omoikkiri Suki ni Natte! by Piyoko Chitose are prime examples.

Okaaaaay what one Earth did I just type?

Just think of this as a guide to surviving the world of BL manga.
