It's always bothered me that in the show, we all know that certain things must have happened between Klaus and Caroline, but we didn't see them! Well, I'm here to fill in the blanks (or try to). Caroline and Klaus have been happily together for ten years when she finally admits her wish to be married. He isn't exactly thrilled by the idea but agrees because he likes to make her happy. Returning to Mystic Falls for the festivities isn't easy and plenty of speed bumps occur along the way but in the end, Klaus will do just about anything to give her the perfect wedding. AU.

A Klaroline AU/AH - Caroline Forbes has finally got her life in a good place. After a graduation trip with best friends Stefan Salvatore and Bonnie Bennett to Hawaii, Caroline realized that Mystic Falls wasn't it for her anymore and decided to stay. Now, five years later just as her life is finally seeming to be normal, enter a new love who could potentially change it all.

"My Dad used to say that a road trip is when you really got to know yourself and whoever you were with." Deciding she needs to get out of Mystic Falls for the summer, Caroline asks Klaus to take her on a drive across the country. It's a long way to go and a lot of time to spend together, and as the miles roll by Caroline starts to wonder if her and Klaus can stay 'just friends.'
