![]() Author has written 6 stories for Portal, Half-Life, and Avatar: Last Airbender. Hello! I'm a writer just here to have fun! Been writing for at least several years now, but I've only just jumped into the world of writing fanfiction, so I'm still a bit new at this! I also draw art for my stories, as well as for Blue Sky and Generational Science, and I've just set up a tumblr page for that. Same username. Or just use the link: Portal Posts Please feel free to comment/review if you like my stories and please considering following so you don't miss a thing. Toodles! Edit: Okay so this has happened several times now? Please do not message me about dating, relationships, etc. That's not what I'm here for. I am a sentient puddle of ink not currently seeking a relationship of the romantic kind. If you do message me about that, you're getting blocked from my messages. WIP: Drabbles, Oneshots, and Whatnots (update schedule is almost entirely dependent on inspiration, so very sporadic) The Steel Clock (sequel to In Another Life) (currently undergoing rewrite, original story will be deleted 7/31/2020, then new story will be uploaded) Of Ratts and Men (now an original take on the Portal 2 narrative narrated by Rattman and featuring Chell, Caroline, and Wheatley) (update roughly every week) Completed Works: In Another Life Do You See the Stars? OC's: Alex Newell: Nine (and three-quarters) year-old who was born in Aperture laboratories as part of an experiment on the human mind. Later used as a crude means of keeping GLaDOS under control until a better solution could be found, she was outfitted with an electronic port connected to her nervous system and brain and plugged into the mainframe. Eventually, she was used as the basis for the morality core's personality construct, but remembers very little of that experience. Abilities: After years of experimentation, surgeries, and modifications, Alex possesses several unusual abilities from her in Aperture. Telekinesis: Out of all of her abilities, this one is by far the most developed, having been the focus of most of Alex's time and testing in the labs. Her upper limit is approximately one ton, or 2,000 lbs of force/lifting ability, though this is significantly decreased if she must apply force to multiple objects. i.e. if Alex must lift several objects, then each of those objects must be a significantly lower weight. Technopathy: Alex's second strongest ability. Thanks to her authority status with Aperture Technology, she is able to control and manipulate most technology, excepting GLaDOS, who can only be controlled via direct mainframe access with the port on Alex's neck. Since Alex is emotionally impacted by the mainframe's influence, her control/influence over GLaDOS is limited. She can communicate with other forms of technology as well, but her access is limited by her will to surpass security measures. Telepathy: Alex's weakest ability. Having received no instruction, training, or testing in this area, Alex does not know how to use this ability very well, and even mild exertion of the ability is tiring. At best, Alex is tired by the ability, at worst, she faints and wakes up with a terrible headache. Weaknesses: Despite her unusual abilities, Alex is still fairly frail from her time in stasis. She is susceptible to illnesses, more so than the average human, and as a small child, she is not particularly strong in a physical sense. She is also blind, and while this does not inhibit her day-to-day tasks in Eaden, she does not have the advantage of reading visual social cues or body language. Also, all of her abilities are completely null when she is unconscious, and they can also be nullified by sufficient distraction. She is also somewhat susceptible to EMP blasts or pulses, as they essentially knock out her central nervous system for varying amounts of time, from a hour to a whole day. Personality: Alex is loyal, polite, and generous to a fault. Having experienced a cold early childhood, she strives for compassion with everyone she meets and considers manners to be of the upmost importance. The flip side of this is that she tends to bottle up her emotions so that she won't burden others with them, as well as hide concerns from her family under the belief that they are "not important". She also has a tendency to consider "no" as a "back gate yes". That is to say, she holds the belief that if she asks politely for something which is refused, she has free reign to achieve or attain the thing she wants herself as soon as the person in question's back is turned. Alex harbors deep hurt and confusion from her time in the labs, rooted in the mixed and unpredictable behavior of the scientists there. While she has happy memories in the labs, such as time spent with her "giant friend" Wheatley, she also has memories of being trapped in the Aperture mainframe with GLaDOS and other experiences which leave her unsure of how to feel about the labs on the whole. |
