Ch. 18

3 minutes later

'Air!'

The first thought that came into Alex's mind after his fall was that he was not able to breathe as Shark was pressing on his chest and his desperation for air. It turned out that his luck was not at it all time low as the cliff that he just felled off was only a few feet drop. Though the worst part of this incident was that Shark, the one who was initially thrown against him and Paul which resulting in their current situation, is still on top of them.

"Get off!" was all Alex managed to gasp out with the limited air he could inhale from beneath the big SAS solider.

"Sorry!"

After a few seconds and to both his and Paul's relief, Alex was finally able to appreciate the precious necessity of breathing air.

Shark look at the two with an apologetic look and waited for them to get their composure back.

"I cannot believe we just survived that." Said Paul and saying what everyone else was thinking as well.

"Still, we can't stay here long. We need to keep going." Alex said after it seems that both Paul and Shark was forgetting that they were in the middle of escaping.

Paul and Shark glanced at each other after this reminder and then turned to look at Alex, indicating him to start leading.

With no one accurately knowing where they are nor caring as long as they are going further away from the hideaway, Alex once again lead the three of them toward a random direction.

After walking a few miles, Alex started to hear a rustling sound that was slowly getting louder and nearer. Raising a hand indicating for the others to stop, Alex crouched down behind a bush to obscure himself from the approaching unknown with Paul and Shark confusingly doing the same as well behind him.

Listening closely, Alex could slowly make out that the sound did not come from a wild animal, but skilled people who was trying to get through a forest without alert everybody of their presence. The only reason why Alex was even aware of their presence was because of how hyper-aware he is now with his surroundings. Now the only question is, are the friends or foes?

Hiding behind the bush, the three of them waited for the unknown people steadily get into view….
